That was over fast, election called for Ford’s PC’s.

Looking forward to Ontario re-electing Captain Canaduh and the gang and the following FAFO that will happen and Ontario’s economy cratering soon after when they find out.
I don’t know what I was supposed to see there, but I noticed comments were turned off. As such, I turned off Canada. It’s a shame.
Didn’t see a Conservative Party. PC is not conservative.
Pretty sad when it’s a toss up for the least bad. None of the above should win. Less government interference.
Pretty funny that Bonnie Crombie is getting smoked in her riding. I do love it when Libranos suffer.
Well she sounded more conservative then the blob. 🙂
who cares
For the first time ever i decided not to vote. A pox on all their houses. Ford is the least worst of the other choices. But that’s not saying much. However federally I will crawl over broken glass to vote for PP. Actually I get to vote for him directly as he is my MP. Not that he’s the perfect choice, but I can’t vote for Trump until we achieve statehood. And that won’t happen as the last thing the Republicans need is 2 or more Democrat senators. But PP represents a faint hope to avoid the iceberg Canada is heading towards.
Doug’s victory was a foregone conclusion. The PC’s had 79 seats at dissolution and will have at least that many when the night is over. I’ll be surprised if they don’t get at least 90 seats.
The real question is whether the Liberals will be able to reclaim Official Opposition status from the NDP. They have a huge edge on the Dippers in polls but they could still trail in the number of seats.
Either way, the Ontario Liberals had nine seats. They’ll be happy with 15 seats, but don’t be too shocked if they wind up with 20 or more.
The NDP will be grateful to hold on to 15 seats, and could go as low as eight.
No more bets, please.
When I went to vote this morning, a woman was complaining to an election official that she had registered online but not gotten a voting card. She was advised that if she had indeed registered properly, her information was in the system, and looking her up would be straightforward, so all she really needed was the photo ID.
Which was not true—legally, she needed another proof of address, which she had not bothered to bring that morning.
I didn’t accuse her of anything, of course, in case I was wrong, and because that was the job of election officials.
They didn’t bother enforcing Ontario election law, perhaps for fear that the woman would take offense and accuse them of voter suppression on orders from a Tory-run provincial government.
I suppose myself they had nothing to gain personally by making it easier for the Grits and Dippers to explain away a bad election night with tall tales about Tory cheating, rather than the inability of the parties of Kathleen Wynne and Bob Rae to win honest elections.
I only got my registration card yesterday, so wouldn’t be surprised if many didn’t have them.
In any event, it’s the Tories who are having a disappointing night. Most seats have already been called:
PC 77 (below expectations)
NDP 25 (above expectations)
Lib 14 (as expected)
Green 2 (as expected)
Bobbi Ann Brady re-elected
Only five seats remain with no results.
Plenty of Ontario voters were ready to return to Kathleen’s vomit, with the Liberals outperforming polls, but not by enough to greatly increase their caucus, thank God.
PC 43.3% (expected 46%)
Lib 29.6% (expected 28%)
NDP 18.4% (expected 18%)
Green 5.0% (expected 6%)
Bobbi-Ann 0.7%
All others 0.4% (expected someone, anyone, to vote for real change).
You are quite wrong. I worked as a DRO today. If the lady’s name is in the system – which it can be, even if they didn’t receive a voter information card – then all she needs to provide is an approved document.
I’m not going to type out the whole list, but if the voter’s name is in the system, all they need to provide is *any document issued by Government of Canada, or Ontario, or their municipality*, a credit card, professional license, SIN card, and etc. It says specifically on my manual “PHOTO ID IS NOT REQUIRED”.
My mistake, honestly made. I hope you didn’t take my crack as an attack on you personally. Your taking the time to assist in the election I sincerely appreciate.
The posters at the polling station did make clear that if you’d lost or never received the card, other proof of address would be requested, such as a recent utility bill.
I do wonder what it would take for one of your colleagues to seriously challenge someone’s eligibility to vote.
You don’t even have to prove you’re a Canadian citizen to successfully register, after all. Any adult resident in Canada who really wants to vote can easily do so, even if he isn’t a citizen. We have no idea how many non-citizens actually do this (and the Liberals, for some reason, have never made much effort to find out the scale of the problem, much less rectify it).
And the photo ID would be a good idea, too. Passports and driver’s licenses have your.mug shot on them for good reason.
We processed about 1500 voters, and there were very few that I would have bothered to have asked to prove their citizenship. That may not be true in other ridings, or even other polls, but I had no worries about most of the electors.
No personal offense taken, by the way. And I didn’t volunteer – I did get paid.
Doug has to go with a big buqet of flowers to K Wynne. Because she & McGuinty burried Ontario Liberals.
A moron like Doug to win so comfortably for 3rd time in a row is only because ON Liberals are still wondering in wilderness.
I wish for PeePee’s PCs a similar win in a month or so.
Clicked link and CBC was interviewing an Ottawa lesbian from one of the loser party’s. Of course…
If you mean Catherine McKenney, the Ottawa Centre parasites, perverts and pot- and pill-heads who failed to thrust her into the mayor’s office have thrust her into Queen’s Park as the MPP for Ottawa Centre easily.
Give your congratulations to Mark Sutcliffe, mayor of Ottawa, who defeated McKenney easily by running as the candidate of sanity and the suburban taxpayers rather than the downtown tax-eaters.
Joke’s on Catherine, who’s won the dubious honour of being an opposition MPP who is a nobody the minute she leaves the Queen’s Park campus. Catherine’s moving to Toronto removes an important obstacle to Mayor Sutcliffe’s work to clean up the mess left by Jim “the Fairy” Watson, both McKenney’s fellow pervert and her fellow politician surplus to the requirements of a city that has more of both than it could ever need or want. People here who work for a living and believe in a God that isn’t money or sex are well rid of Jim, and we’ll be well rid of Catherine too.
And it’s not as if most people in Ottawa Centre have it together enough to govern themselves, never mind a province. If they’ve chosen to send Catherine to be their duly elected gadfly to Queen’s Park rather than a responsible adult serious about participating in the government of this province, I can’t see how that’s a bad thing. They voted to continue to be treated with contempt by honest Ontarians, and who am I to oppose their will? Who are any of us?
Dug ain’t much of a conservative.
Hahahahahaha Bonnie Crombie lost her riding.
Captain BlubberDougie gonna save us from Bad Orange Man.
GOD HELP US. President Trump Help us!
FILTHY FORD
Don’t laugh too loud. Bonnie can honestly claim that under her leadership during the election the Liberals made a real comeback. They’re on 13 seats, which they’ll be content with for now, and beating the NDP in the popular vote by 11 points.
It’s Doug who owes answers to the PCs. Just tonight (see above) polls had them looking at 90 seats, maybe more. As it is they’re on 81 seats. That’s two—count them—two whole extra Tory arses in seats at Queen’s Park, ready to vote for whatever the globalists and Chinese communists tell Doug to tell them to vote for.
Playing the Orange Man Bad card probably convinced much of Ford Nation to stay home, costing the PCs several winnable seats. Somewhere Rob is weeping.
With 122 of 124 seats reporting results:
PC 42.9% and 81 seats, below expected 46% and 92 seats
NDP 18.8% and 25 seats, above expected 18% and 16 seats
Green 4.9% and two seats, below expected 6% (as usual) but above expected single seat
Bobbi Ann 0.7%, one seat, as expected (she doesn’t come in twelve-packs)
Silly People Who Think The Elites Would Ever Allow Non-Elites To Hold Real Power 0.4%, no seats. Even their mothers no longer expect much from them. They can barely handle food delivery and they want to be MPP’s?!
What a rogue’s gallery of choices.
Bad, worse and awful. Congrats Morontariowe, you’ve really lowered the bar.
Wake me when Ford shuts off electricity to New York State to pwn Trump. That I want to see.
You and me both.
101st Airborne at Queen’s Park, THAT would be a sight!
The first rule of holes…
I happily voted for New Blue today (I am in the top 1% of voters :p). Voted for him once. Will never forgive him for collaboration with Potato on lockdowns, for the suppression of Wuhan Flu protests and Freedom Convoy. I usually vote strategically, but this treason will never be forgiven. The wrong Ford got cancer.
Here’s a little resistance story from Haldimand-Norfolk
In 2022 Ford decided to bypass the local riding association and hand pick a candidate. H-N was less than happy and elected Bobbi Ann Brady, the ex-riding association president, as an independent. She got under Ford’s skin so bad in the house he promised she wouldn’t have a job after the next election.
This time out he did it again, selecting the current Norfolk mayor as candidate. They started the shadow months earlier and H-N saw more cabinet Ministers in 6 months than in the past 5 years. They threw everything at her, including candidates from other ridings and bussing in paid canvassers.
The result:
Brady received 33,699 votes – THE HIGHEST VOTE COUNT FOR ANY CANDIDATE IN THE PROVINCE!!! It’s 63.65% of the votes cast in the riding and more than double her vote count in the 2022 election. (Doug Ford only got 59.35% in his riding – lol)
Her margin of victory was 20,720 votes – THE LARGEST MARGIN OF ANY RIDING IN THE PROVINCE!!! That’s 10X her margin in 2022, a 1000% increase!
Voter turnout was 54.77%, the 3rd highest in the province. Haldimand-Norfolk was edged out by Parry Sound-Muskoka and Huron-Bruce with 54.92% and 55.65% respectively. Still, nothing to sneeze at when the province as a whole was 45.4%
And for the record books – it appears that Bobbi Ann Brady is now the only person to win 2 elections as an independent in the history of Ontario
We processed about 1500 voters, and there were very few that I would have bothered to have asked to prove their citizenship. That may not be true in other ridings, or even other polls, but I had no worries about most of the electors.
