      It also doesn’t appear to have any self-propelled artillery to speak of, but you don’t really need that if all you are doing is giving speeches about how great our country is at peacekeeping (currently deployed peacekeepers as of October 31st, 2024: 30)

  5. I think this grand experiment called Canada is wrapping up. All because of a dim witted Laurentian elite soy boy coupled with the great Canadian inferiority complex that prioritizes good hair over policy. It was a good run.

      They don’t give a rat’s ass what happens to our economy as long as they can wrap themselves in the flag and fool gullible Canadians into voting for them for “Standing up for Canada!”…when in reality they are only standing up for themselves.

      A smart leader would do almost anything to *avoid* such a needless, one-sided trade war. A smart leader would recognize how much damage (some of it irreparable) could be done to Canada and how the end result of such a conflict would be the same anyway (shades of Ukraine, there).

      Not these clowns, though. They know how easily manipulated the public really is. They know that even if our economy ends up in ruins and our institutions collapse, they will personally be okay. Whatever the cost to Canada ends up being, they themselves will never have to pay it because they are wealthy and can go live anywhere they choose.

I’ve mentioned on a number of posts on US sites that under the US Military Code the withdrawl from Afghanistan that left military equipment in theatre that could be beneficial to the enemy is a violation of Military Code Section 10, Subsection 899, Article 99. Under this Article it would appear that everyone from the C-in-C, down through the joint Chiefs of Staff, right downto the officers in the field are guilty of issuing and committing an illegal order. It now appears that the Trump administration is about to clean house, the only question now is how far down the chain of command are the charges going to be levelled. Issuing an illegal order, or implementing an illegal order in contradiction of Military Law has been a serious offence throughout history. However everyone involved in the retreat from Afghanistan that left military equipment in theatre that was beneficial to the enemy cannot be charged but at some point there must be a reckoning to those at the top that issued and complied with the order to evacuate.

      Why didn’t they destroy it? I suspect they didn’t have enough personnel left in Afghanistan.

      Was the evacuation a cluster f*ck? Yep. Reminds one of Uncle Sam leaving Vietnam.

  14. Yes, Canada is a freeloader in the US led coalition of the wars-forever NATO circle-jerk. That is at best, a distraction in the quest for a military strategy for the defense of Canada (the three coast lines and territorial integrity). From the benefit of hindsight, it’s likely a good thing that we weren’t up to the magic numbers of defense spending while engaged in US led adventures that did nothing but cost lives and treasure, for what? Destabilizing shithole regimes so that we felt obligated to import the Jihad? Are more surface ships which today means more manned targets the answer? Other than modern subs, drones, missile. and anti-missile systems, of which we likely have none, does anyone in the political establishment have a clue what would make sense. The latest fighters on order are single-engined and in a flame-out quickly become lawn darts that perhaps offer just another (obsolete by the time of delivery) manned target for modern anti-aircraft technology? IOW, we have a military mentality stuck in the cold war era designed to project power that we obviously cannot deliver on nor should we. Our contingent in Latvia admits that in a shooting war with the Bear, they are at best a speed bump.

    If we want to defend the Arctic, how about we first toss out the McKenzie valley pipeline LPC predecessor to C-69 and develop the Beaufort the way it should have happened 50 years ago. The Oil patch will pay for much of the development. Dome Petroleum had ships built for exploration before going bankrupt after their beloved Liberals killed it.

  16. Funny all the hyperventilating over Trump firing all the military ‘leaders’ he doesn’t like, exactly as Obama did in 2009. Not a peep about LA’s mayor Bass, a full blown communist, firing her fire chief, a DEI hire I might add, for the fires.
