Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick

"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella

Good for Trump.
I wonder how many Canadian nationalists are going to watch – yeah none because they’re a bunch of Margret Atwood readers who watch CBC and still get home mail service.
I’m not watching because there is nothing more boring and more of a waste of time than watching people play sportsball.
So, you are a fan of chasing the frozen rubber disc.
I was as a kid, but as a kid I was also a player. If I was forced to watch a sport, and had a choice, it would be hockey.
I’m not watching because NFL stands for Neeling Fairies Lineup.
Besides, Australian Rules Football makes North American foobaw look like geriatric ballet.
Americans are disgusting:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1oxX0TKOLU
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse than WAP …
This is what freedom of speech looks like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE2QAYVlUJE
Can you imagine what true freedom would look like? It would make a little youtube video look lame and tame. Canadians are afraid of freedom.
Freedom carries a terrible price, but its still a bargain compared to every alternative.
Chris Stapleton singing the star spangled banner was the only reason that I watched the last super bore.
I’m refinishing a coffee table, I’m not “anti-Superbowl” but I’ll see the Elon DOGE ads later…
Fox: The prime minister said this weekend to a group of Canadian businessmen, he was at a private meeting, he said that your wish for Canada to be the 51st state is a quote real thing. Is it a real thing?
Trump: Yeah, it is.
I think Canada would be much better off being the 51st state, because we lose $200 billion a year with Canada, and I’m not going to let that happen. It’s too much. Why are we paying $200 billion a year, essentially in subsidy, to Canada. Now, if they were the 51st state, I wouldn’t mind doing it.
Over 200 comments earlier this week – the most I’ve ever seen – calling me everything from a “fed” to a Zalenskyy knob gobbler to a Liberal and much worse. Reputation crapped upon all day long. But hey, Trump acknowledges this live on Fox, yet apparently I’m the fool.
See for yourself.
https://www.linkedin.com/posts/brian-lilley-18098328_donald-trump-says-yes-making-canada-a-51st-ugcPost-7294477247023890432-YmkG?utm_source=social_share_send&utm_medium=member_desktop_web
If the shoe fits.
Then I guess you’re wearing it.
Trump “Canada has nothing the US needs”
So why would Trumpy want to pay $200 billion a year to have Canada as the 51st state?
And right now Fox News is going to talk about annexing Canada – 5:26 p.m. SK time.
So you’ve just got time to work yourself into proper hysterics!
I’m pretty sure the hysterics were all the comments made at my expense on Friday. And there was a lot of it.
This just in! Trump says a LOT of outlandish things! For a number of strategic reasons … Please make a note of it.
PS … your Dear Leader admires Dear Chairman Xi’s basic Dictatorship. Better you stay in bed with your Communist owners, eh?
Kenji says a lot of outlandish things – this just in!
Trudeau is not “my dear leader.” But his is the prime minister, like it or hate it. And what he said was acknowledged by Trump, himself, on Fox, no less. But don’t acknowledge what’s right before you. Convince yourself of whatever you wish.
If Trump saying it, himself, on Fox, isn’t good enough for you, than nothing ever will be.
Psst … Trump isn’t an idiot. He doesn’t want anything to do with making Puerto Rico the 51st State because doing so would forever cement the future of America as a permanent CA … with a supermajority Leftist Congress and permanent Leftist POTUS. Yeah … that’d be even WORSE if America’s toque became a State. You can KEEP Ottawa.
And you can keep all your newly-arrived “refugees” who didn’t know how freezing it would be in Canada … and didn’t know how worthless your plastic money spends.
Who wrote this?:
So how could a union of Canada and the United States grant statehood to New Brunswick, or Saskatchewan, but not Puerto Rico? How about Prince Edward Island before D.C.? How do you deny 3.9 million existing American citizens statehood, but give it to a bunch of Canucks?
Republicans can’t fathom the idea of giving Puerto Rico and D.C. statehood, because that’s an automatic four Democrat senate seats, and likely another five in the House. And that’s another nine electoral college seats – all firmly painted blue.
So let’s add Canada to the mix. Seven of those 10 new states would almost certainly be Democrat bastions, forever. Alberta, Saskatchewan, and once in a while Ontario might vote Republican. The rest? They might vote Conservative as Canadians, but would surely be Democrats as Americans.
You add 10 Canadian states, Puerto Rico and DC, and you get 62 states, and nine or ten of the new 12 will all but certainly never vote Republican any time soon.
The net result of adding Canada alone means forever ensconcing the House, the Senate and the president as Democrat. Add in DC and Puerto Rico, and the Republicans will cement American as a one-party nation, under the Democrats, for generations.
—
Oh right, I did. In the column that was so roundly crapped upon.
So you wrote what is patently obvious to hundreds of millions of people … then claim some “special insight”. Mmmm, OK then
Kenji, if it was so patently obvious to hundreds of millions, why did so many on SDA lose it on Friday?
Brian,
Trump is using an economic metaphor.
Literal mindedness is a red herring.
This is about continental geopolitics and unifying what is in our best interests,
Bannon was saying so recently.
For adult context, check out an interview that Candice Malcolm had with Preston Manning, on True North. There is a pertinent reference to Bannon in that conversation.
By the way, I thought too many commentors were unkind to you on Friday, but maybe you should consider it all and eschew any alignment with anything that Trudeau is lying about.
If I have this wrong, then I am open for correction, as we all should be who strive for signal to noise.
Have a nice day.
Thank you for that.
You know, I am one of the exceptionally few journalists in Western Canada who is NOT bought and paid for by federal Liberal government subsidies, who is NOT captured by the left-wing mind virus of wokeism and anthropogenic climate change. You’d think the followers of SDA would appreciate that. But that clearly was not evident Friday. Maybe they’d prefer there be NO ONE. Because that’s what they could get.
And Trudeau was not lying about it. Trump said as much in the interview at the top of this post, which I transcribed. That’s Trudeau derangement syndrome speaking, the other form of TDS. To use a bad pun Trump trumps anything Manning or Malcolm say, period, every day of the week and twice on Sunday. It doesn’t matter what they said, only what he said. And he said in response to is it a real thing, “Yeah, it is.” Period. End of discussion.
My approach is ignore what Trump says, and instead focus on his actions.
I think the conversation of having the US absorbing Canada is a negotiating tactic more than an actual threat or statement of intent. The media’s job is to sell the news, and to call out those they disagree with. In Canada they apparently fail at both if one’s name isn’t President Donald J. Trump. I rarely disagree with Trump and am taking his side on this issue. He was elected to represent the USA and to bring it back to greatness. Canada’s mess has more to do with what Canada’s duly elected gov’t has done, not that I actually agree with anything they’ve done. Of course The Turd™ thinks Trump’s USA is going to absorb Canada, but he believes in many things without a basis in reality.
In Canada, nobody in politics runs on “bringing Canada back to greatness”, yet all they’d need to do is undo the entirety of everything the #Libranos, “Progressive” Conservatives, and the NDP in provincial politics have done. Which is not so dissimilar to what Trump has said he’ll do in the USA.
That was quite a +230 comments tirade, though I differ in opinion where you mentioned being called a “Liberal and much worse” as I don’t actually know anything worse than being called a Liberal and hey I’ve worked a long time in construction and have never actually heard of anything worse than being called a Liberal. So there’s that.
Anyone who sides with the Lieberals is a Liberal. And that includes Brian Z and anyone else.
Ask yourself ‘why would anyone in the US want to add Canada?’ It would be the same as adding Mexico. I take Pres Trumps remarks as a wake up call to Canada. For Canada to really fight the drug labs, the corruption, the money laundering. Or is Trump saying if we Canadian’s don’t clean things up ourselves then he might do it for us? Look at what the US did in Grenada to the communists. Canada is a communist country.
So a Liberal, Trudeau, says Trump wanting to take over Canada is real. Trump agrees. So clearly, according to your Trudeau Derangement Syndrome logic, Trump is very obviously a Liberal. Plain as day!
Give your head a shake. And get off my back, you !@#!@#!@. I offer no quarter to someone who calls names while hiding behind an alias. I use my own name in everything, thank you. Let’s see you do the same. Man up or take a long walk off a short plank.
Brian Z you don’t make any sense. You joined team Turdeau; that’s how I see it. Watching Pres Trump in action is like a dream come true.
Well you sure showed your real character by swearing at me for speaking the truth.
“So a Liberal, Trudeau, says Trump wanting to take over Canada is real. Trump agrees. ”
And you BELIEVED him.
Trump has a long established and documented history of saying outlandish things that *may or may not be true*. It’s part of his negotiating strategy. He has written books about it.
And you BELIEVED him when he uttered a throwaway line about Canada becoming the 51st state, as if that could ever really happen. You ranted about it to the point where you made a complete fool of yourself, and now you are back here again acting as if you have somehow been vindicated because Donald Trump made yet another tongue-in-cheek remark?
Not really the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you Brian?
(Pro Tip: when you’re in a hole, conventional wisdom says STOP DIGGING. You’re welcome.)
Fred from BC – a throwaway line he’s said on the record what – five, six, seven times? Don’t believe anything Trump says, except when he says it, right? Don’t believe what he says about DOGE, because clearly he’s just using throwaway lines and that’s how he negotiates. Don’t believe what he says about deporting people, because that’s just how he riles the troops. Don’t believe what he says about opening up drilling, because he wouldn’t do that in his first series of executive orders. Do you, and many others, not understand that this man actually does what he sets out to do? How many times do you have to hear it come from his mouth for you to wake the heck up??? I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer? I kept my mouth shut on Friday and took untold amounts of abuse. But Trump today vindicated, yet again, what I said. And yet your derangement blinds you.
There was a man in the 20s and 30s a century ago who said he wanted more land, too. And no one believed him, until he took over Austria, then Sudetenland, then Czechoslovakia, then marched into Poland. Only then did people believe him. And a guy in Russia did the same thing, and in 2014, then in force in 2022, he did. You might hate our government for whatever reason. But they are still OUR government. And this is still OUR nation. Wake up.
LoneRanger,
You want the truth? I am not on team Trudeau. I never have been. I have stood 20 feet from him and asked him hard questions. Have you done the same?
https://youtu.be/1DNigxe5bXE?si=5E6I47kqVSw0cOOg
I have been told his office on occasion is briefed on some of the stuff I write. That Guilbeault hates my guts, because I’ve basically destroyed the case for wind and solar, their darlings. The work I did in that regard has had major impact on policy in Saskatchewan, and in turn, this country. Can you say the same?
No, you just continue with the keyboard warrior schtick, calling people names, besmirching their character, behind an alias. A man with no name has no character. You know my name.
What would we do without such heroes?
He’s almost not Prime Dictator for another few months, thanks to Brian and his many heroic buddies.
Yes, we know your name. It’s “Blinky”.
https://youtu.be/iZndVv-jl-U?si=oQAY7bKA-7bkTzLM
If we’re such a communist country, how is it this fall I voted for my mayor. I voted for my MLA. That MLA and a few dozen others formed government. The loyal opposition took the opposite side, and has been providing a critical role? You want communist, get on a plane to China, and stay there. Maybe you’ll talk big then.
Brian. I think LR was speaking about the country federally, and the federal government. At the very least, we know that the turd IS NOT a capitalist, and I think it would be safe to say that Carnage is more like an oligarchist than a capitalist.
SK may not be conservative based on the experience I’ve had in the 15 months I lived there, but it certainly isn’t communist.
That’s not why they were crapping over you, Brian. From what I’ve seen, it’s your suggestion that Canucks take up bayonets, or something along those lines, to defend against Trump’s hostility. It came across as you joining the “Team Canada” approach of retaliatory tariffs. At least, that was my impression. Am I wrong?
The suggestion that Canada (aka “Canuckistan”) could defend itself if Trump really wanted to take over the country was a bit far-fetched.
“That’s not why they were crapping over you, Brian. From what I’ve seen, it’s your suggestion that Canucks take up bayonets, or something along those lines, to defend against Trump’s hostility. It came across as you joining the “Team Canada” approach of retaliatory tariffs. At least, that was my impression. Am I wrong?”
You are not. He acted like a petulant child throwing a tantrum, and was treated accordingly. And just as it all died down, now he’s back again to remind everyone what happened and to double down on his foolishness. No sympathy here. I have enjoyed his posts in the past, but no more.
Really? Because I made no comments on Friday after the initial post. You can check. “Petulant child throwing a tantrum” my @$$.
Trump, again, said today he wants Canada. Again. How many times do you have to hear it? He hasn’t doubled down – he’s tripled, quadrupled, quintupled, sextupled, septupled… Listen. You might notice there’s a message in his words.
FC
The Canadian Army would clearly surrender without any sort of real conventional fight. That much is clear. Any battle would be a slaughter. As would the navy and air force. No chance in hell. The French in 1940 would have lasted longer. We’d last about as long as Denmark did in 1940: about six hours.
But for 20 years, barely civilized Afghans with next to no technology held off the occupying US Army. And they ran home with their tail so far between their legs they left something like $80 billion in equipment behind, with people hanging onto the outside of planes as they took off. And that was after the Afghans did the same with the Soviets. How far-fetched was that? The same could be said for Iraq, too. They bled the Americans until they left. The US did not come out victorious in either of those. In this century, the US wins every battle, but loses wars.
An insurgency wouldn’t be instant, but it could absolutely happen in the case of an annexation. And that’s the term already being used on Fox News this past afternoon. You know, the channel Trump watches, and appeared on today.
How many bodybags going back to Des Moines is Canada worth?
As for retaliatory tariffs, I don’t know yet. But on principle I’d rather stand up for Canada than take anything lying down. And I was on Team Canada, and my rank in the reserves was lieutenant, and my wife was second lieutenant. My service may have been minimal – it was the most my health would allow. But I did serve, for seven years.
And no, I did not say “bayonets.” I said they were sharpening their knives and oiling their rifles.
I apologize for “bayonets.” I wasn’t quoting you, I was speculating on what the debate was all about.
With all due respect, I would suggest that a conflict with Canada would not be the same as the conflict in Afghanistan.
The Afghans see themselves as a nation, albeit an Islamic-based nation, but it gave them the will and the courage to fight for their beliefs and their country.
What does “post-national” Canada have with their “non-core-identity?” Canadians will not have the strength, the resolve, or the will to put up much resistance.
In an hypothetical conflict with the US, I see Canada falling within days.
And I prefer the term “absorption” over “annexation,” because Canada will collapse under it’s own bureaucratic and economic dead weight, and can be absorbed ergonomically… that is if the US had the motivation to pick up the pieces.
As for the tariffs, really now. Yes, the US would suffer some hardship in the short term, but they will benefit in the long run. How can anyone cheer on the team Canada approach for retaliatory tariffs against an opponent whose economy is ten times bigger than our own? That would be insane!
But I won’t go along with the crowd and condemn you for your views. You are entitled to them, and you do make some interesting points. I wish I had the resolve to stand up for Canada, but after what I’ve been through these past 5 years, I really couldn’t care less what happens to this country, thanks to it’s current, feckless government.
What I will do instead is thank you for your service to this country formerly known as Canada.
Eagles all the way. The Chiefs got lucky … or something else … this season. They’ve looked very shaky.
For God’s sake … the Vegas Raiders had them beat. Yes … the Vegas Raiders … before idiotically fumbling the game away in the last seconds. The 4-13 Raiders.
https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2024-11-29/kansas-city-chiefs-las-vegas-raiders-nfl-game-recap
Geeze … I don’t like to gloat (lie detector spikes to 11) … and I’m sorry that Trump went with Mahomes because his wife posts positive things about him … but, seriously … KC has no business being in the Super Bowl. They were hanging on by their teeth all season. They simply never looked like a championship team to my trained eye.
Philly has outplayed, outcoached, and outclassed KC. Congrats city of brotherly love … and Cosby
I tuned in late … did I miss the “black National Anthem”? How many Kaepernicks kneeled during the National Anthem?
Yeah, but, I heard that Trombone Shorty plays at half time, so there’s that.
Yeah Stevie … I’ve already heard the trombone (and horns) play like nobody’s business. The way my ear loves them …
https://youtu.be/pizRRft3_8Y?si=ojTQuJHNX_GaqAXL&t=270
https://youtu.be/lI-BMDnti4c?si=1xJrYz59UMyROtgJ&t=251
Trombone Shorty performed “America the Beautiful” with Lauren Daigle, pre-game. A little too jazzy for my taste (it is NOLA after all), but still good. Amazing song.
Yes, I am watching. I grew up watching all sports with my father. Even after I moved out of the house, I always came home to watch the Super Bowl with my dad. Great memories.
Canadian nationalists are just so many hounded penguins, huddling on an ice flow, with their backs to the gathering winds.
President Trump rightly doesn’t want Canada as a state. It’s a bet that he put out, waiting for Canada to fold, like Panama, and Mexico.
Watching the halftime … “entertainment” … now. Not. My. People. Not. My. Music.
Aren’t I supposed to want to see … “people who look like me”? Or did that phrase only really refer to a single “type” of a thing?
Obviously they still don’t get it. This crapola isn’t what the everyday citizen wants in their lives.
And the Superbowl multi-million dollar commercials – who comes up with this dreck? I remember a time when they were funny/entertaining/interesting! Sheesh!
My one word response to the Super Bowl ads … creepy. Really strange, odd, things like flying unibrows and unistashes … how do two completely different products/corporations come up with nearly identical unfunny ads illustrating facial hair flying around terrorizing people?
Agreed, Kenji. Awful stuff. Not even music. That’s what we get when Jay-Z gets to pick the half-time show “entertainment.” I miss the marching bands. I’m getting old.
”I enjoyed the woman who did the National Anthem in sign language than I did that guy”
Had to post that … I busted out laughing when I read it.
Isn’t Super Bowl the day that the wife beaters get to celebrate or something like that? I haven’t heard the feminazi’s talking about it for a few years
Apparently the crowd booed Taylor Swift.

Yeah, folks. I posted this before. If the link doesn’t work, just truncate “/MediaViewer” from the link. It’ll work.

Any pick of Trump showing him at the Super Bowl? The halftime show was (c)rap. Not my preference. Hopefully next year, 60th anniversary of superbowl and 200th anniversary of our country, halftime show will be someone who appeals to a broader slice of fans.
Correction: 250th anniversary.
What’s more Amthan than country music?
Wholesome as a church picnic.
Perfect for 1/2 time.
With 8 minutes in the 4th quarter, PHI 37, KC 6
If it’s true and Trump is rooting for KC, it looks like it’ll be the first time Trump lost at anything.
Update. PHI 40, KC 6.
This is the most boring Superbowl that I’ve witnessed in the past 10 years!
The halftime show was a complete snooze fest. I don’t know what possessed the NFL to book Kendrick Lamar, but his show did not live up to the usual halftime extravaganza that we’ve become used to seeing during the Superbowl.
Prince’s performance at the SB comes to mind as a classic. I don’t think we’ll see anything like that anytime soon.
…Purple Rain IN THE RAIN! You can’t get anything better than that!
Had to watch it again to make up for Lamar’s lackluster show in this year’s snooze fest.
“The halftime show was a complete snooze fest. I don’t know what possessed the NFL to book Kendrick Lamar, ”
Particular since he is such a huge POS.
I had no idea who he was and had never heard any of his music when he pulled that despicable stunt by inviting a young white fan on stage to sing with him, only to castigate her *in front of thousands* for having the temerity to sing his own lyrics. He set her up…she was devastated. He is disgusting.
I much prefer they had put a nice vinyl turntable at the 50yd line and spun some Eddie Kendricks and Temptations during halftime.
https://youtu.be/Eke-oF3Vh6s?si=oC0Z1mEJX0nmeCUC
I must have missed that. TBH, I was being distracted while the halftime show was going on. I had other things going on at the time.
Oh. And Budweiser and Bud Light spending what probably amounts to $100M on Super Bowl ads and ad time ?! Trannies Puhleeze!
You killed off your brand. You’re never getting it back … no matter how many cute horses you show delivering beer. You made the exceptionally PISS poor choice, like your piss-beer, of a Trannie FREAK delivering your beer. You made your bed with a FREAK SHOW … now lay in it and do whatever you do with Tranny FREAKS
Budweiser = Trannie FREAK beer … forever.
February 9 becomes Gulf of America day.
Mexico should rename the Gulf of California the Gulf of Mexico
