No joke, apparently

Trudeau now thinks Trump is not joking about taking over Canada.

I think this whole tariff thing about drugs has been smoke and mirrors from the beginning, and now so, too, does the Canadian government.

TORONTO, Feb 7 (Reuters) – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday said U.S. President Donald Trump’s talk about absorbing Canada “is a real thing” and is linked to the country’s rich natural resources, a government source said.

I would like to point out I wrote a column about this two weeks ago that got little attention, likely because it was swamped by inauguration day. But it seems reality is catching up. Here’s that column, talking about the fact one should not expect a takeover of Canada to be peaceful. Now I realize a lot of people on here might think the US taking over Canada would be the best thing ever. Not everyone shares that opinion. I spoke to a few people today who used to wear a uniform and humped a pack, and they independently told me they’re basically oiling their rifles and sharpening their knives. And both pointed out that two thirds of international war crimes legislation was written as a result of Canadian actions in prior wars.

(Kate, coming in late: Setting aside Trudeau’s political Hail Mary into the end zone of Canadian paranoia, I think the jittery riflemen can stand down. Beijing has no intention of selling Canada to Trump.)

  1. This is like watching a remake of Spielberg’s “1941”, or the older movie “The Russians Are Coming!”

    Slapstick all the way.

Some otherwise serious people are making fools of themselves.

    1. So is the Dead Rat, we knew that through its rants about the Safe and Effective fantasies, and it’s doing the same now.
It’s the Alfred E Neuman of commenters.

  2. I was just at my local barbershop getting a haircut. There was an older gentleman sitting in the waiting area and my barber decides to ask me how I feel about being the 51st state- always a good conversation starter- and I just chuckled. Then the conversation turned to the idea of turning Gaza into a nice Riviera- I said well what’s your alternative? Do the same thing that’s been tried for decades? At least it’s a new way of looking at things…then this seemingly normal old guy waiting pipes up with “someone needs to shoot that F’n guy!” Needless to say the conversation ended. I just wanted a haircut, not an argument, and clearly this position can’t be reasoned with, so I just paid and left. My fear is that there are too many Canadians like this and the Trudeau gang knows this. Reminds me of Covid- seemingly normal people saying absolutely insane things like wishing literal death to anyone that disagrees with what the Tv told them.

  3. I think the point is that having a leftist state on our northern border is not acceptable. Canada needs to fix itself.

    1. It won’t. The crime families that style themselves the elites of the Western world only seriously consider doing the sensible thing (never mind the morally right thing) when they no longer have a choice.

The Libranos are not going to change and are not going to turn against the CCP. It’s up to Trump to push them aside and replace them with something that isn’t a threat to US interests.

          1. Go feck yourself, your useless piece of protoplasm. Whatever you say, I immediately assume the contrary is true.

          2. What on Earth makes you think I lose? Or is it because you’re a loser and trying to pull the winners down to your level?

  4. Because I forgot to take the jab and the booster, I don’t get Trudeau’s messages just by walking past a 5G tower. I have to think for myself.
Trudeau thinks lots of crazy stuff. He thinks I’m part of some fringe minority with unacceptable views. He thinks maybe I’ll buy the lie this time. He’s still wrong.

BTW, I hadn’t believed the 5G stuff about the jab, but in some people it almost seems to work that way.

  5. Canada has vast natural resources, a huge temptation to Putin and Xi. We have no means of preventing them taking over chunks of Canada. The Americans do not want communists on their northern border, and they would not hesitate to pre-empt Canada to stop any other invasions and to take those resources for themselves. Canada has far greater strategic importance to the US than Greenland.

We have forfeited the right to sovereignty by letting our defenses wither. What is it about this that Canadians just don’t get?

  6. If Brian’s imaginary friends are anywhere close to as smart as him, they’re probably oiling their knives, and sharpening their guns.

  7. What Trudeau “thinks” is not the least bit relevant. The guy has the intellect of a garden slug.

  8. Perhaps Brian is a graduate of Regina University where it was said “they excel at only one thing, Denying reality.”

  9. The libranos prayed for a Trump win. They saw it as their best chance to turn things around. They knew they could scare Canadians with the bad orange man. They now have their boogie man and will now paint PP and Danielle Smith as Trump acolyte.

The libranos will now run an anti American election. The theme will be, ‘ we’re not Americans’ and we’re not for sale’, and it will be soaked up liberal Canada. If you love Canada you’ve got to vote Liberal…

Don’t bet against it not working. They are going to present themselves as Captain Canada.

    1. Well, if by some fluke the Liberals held on to power, Canada would disintegrate anyway…especially under Herr Carney…the green fascist.

  10. “No joke”.
Proving once again, our progressive comrades have no sense of humour.
    Or proportion for that matter.

Me thinks it is a matter of personal security.
You have to be able to laugh at yourself to enjoy life’s absurdities.

Which explains, partly, the self loathing and misery of our little friends..
TDS is a serious Liberal Disorder..
“Look mom,the Orange man is laughing at me”.
    Make him stop!
Of course, every really good joke has a serious kernal of truth.

  11. “It is in the interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice. For they cannot live in any country where virtue and knowledge prevail. The religion and public liberty of a people are intimately connected; their interests are interwoven, they cannot subsist separately; and therefore they rise and fall together. For this reason, it is always observable, that those who are combin’d to destroy the people’s liberties, practice every art to poison their morals.” ~ Samuel Adams

  12. Eff it! 82nd Airborne “Come on down!!!!” I will greet them as liberators.
After being told by my PM that I was “racist”…”white supremacist”…”misogynist” during Covid. You can GFY. And you want me to rally around the flag for you ya faggot? FO.

      1. I believe the Khmer Rouge option will be your destiny, because Idiot Intellectuals in Canada have it coming hard.

  13. Heh.
    Lotsa good comments.
    Maybe its the Palestine Option:

Trump will just take the land – Alberta & Saskatchewan and the Yukon – and move the Hosers & Indians to the east and west, their choice. (No condos, just O&G and mining. Maybe some hunting and fishing camps.)
“They’re really really nice people, those Canadians, but their government has failed them and we need to protect our borders from some really really bad people. Yes, yes we do.”

  14. Alberta, Saskatchewan and the majority of the land mass of B.C. could become a stand alone country and have a free trade agreement with the U.S.

The rest of Canada can pound sand.

  15. The US is a power in likely terminal decline led by an idiot child. Either of these conditions radically increase the likelihood of the US doing something stupid and crazy. It behooves Canada and other countries to take measures to counter and prevent this outcome.

    1. Under Trump’s first admin the US prospered. They are prospering now as the grifters that you think of as saviors are de-funded.

    2. “It behooves Canada and other countries to take measures to counter and prevent this outcome.”

      /wink/ highsign/ winkwink wink

      1. And this Government certainly behooves Canada! Those old ladies in walkers, they get behooved real good!

  16. One thing is clear from these comments:
The Libs have successfully destroyed any remnant of cohesion this country may have once had.
Confederation is now nothing but a racket, victimizing AB and SK, and propping up the feds and other socialists.

  17. Here’s the lying turdo la doo, floundering in a cesspool of shit, hoping like hell that this squeal of desperation might convince the gods to pluck him from the mire.

Trump is likely completely ambivalent about who runs this infantile country. Pee-Pee is a nonentity because he lacked the guts and wisdom that Smith had: to meet with Trump at an early stage to make the case that not every politician (and voter) up here was a Yank-hating bedwetter.

Now the weather vane (Pee-Pee) and Blubber Douggie have certainly come to Trump’s attention, with their hollow posturing and ridiculous strutting that is exactly in sync with Turdo la doo … who is reviled by Trump for all the right reasons.

DJT did a superb job of bird-dogging and flushed the Canadian chickens out of the stubble.

    1. To be honest, I would still prefer collapse to annexation.
The US, while free on paper, are saddled with an abundance of weaponized bureaucracies, while Canadians, even under the turd can pretty much do what we like, albeit in poverty.
I truly think that the freedom to roam a wasteland of rubble is preferable to a gilded cage full of armed guards.

  18. “ hoping like hell that this squeal of desperation might convince the gods to pluck him from the mire.”

25 pages into RFK’s book (TRAF) and it is evident Fidel’s boy may well be hoping for some one to grant him a pardon.

  19. Trudeau is in on it, That’s why he outlawed the Assault style rifles. Oiling up the old P14 and Enfield’s. LOL

  20. If it came to a vote count me in, I’d be proud to be a part of the US of A. Alberta has been screwed since forever and it’s time for that to end.

  21. “I spoke to a few people ” ” and both”

“And both pointed out that two thirds of international war crimes legislation was written as a result of Canadian actions in prior wars.”

    Please, you’re killing me.

  22. “I think the jittery riflemen can stand down.”

Shouldn’t that be “the ptsd afflicted gunpersons can squat”?

  23. During dread Covid Theatre,I wrongly assumed that people could only run around with their hair of fire, for a finite time, before reality would intrude.
    Or exhaustion.

So I have no idea how long this outburst of TDS will last.
    Logic?
    Reason?
    Rational consideration of the evidence?
    Not in this idiotic kleptocracy.

One blessing of this hysteria,Western Canadians can once again be reminded..No one in Eastern Canada gives a damn what we think.
The continual drain of wealth from here by Ottawa.
The constant destructive meddling in our business.
The open contempt toward our aspirations..

    Business as usual.
    Enjoy.
I wonder what next weeks “Squirrel” is going to be?

  24. “Surrender pronto, or we nuke Toronto!” – Canadian Bacon

I don’t doubt that you could find Canadians willing to kill Americans, but I seriously doubt that you could find American soldiers willing to participate in an offensive war against Canada. This is ridiculous.

Even in 1812, when we had some legitimate beefs with the British Empire, we had to reconstitute our army because soldiers wouldn’t cross the border to invade a neighbor.
