  1. Good one, Kate. This guy knows his stuff. Anyone who has lived by the ocean their entire life knows that pleasure boaters using raw water cooling flush their cooling systems with fresh water after each use (in the case of car toppers) or at the end of the season (in the case of larger, moored boats). Boats that are large enough to stay in the water all year long have cooling systems designed for salt water. And yes, plants and trees survive temporary exposure to salt water just fine…these are just excuses made by people desperate to cover up their incompetence in dealing with this fire, as is the insistence that ‘climate change’ is to blame.

  2. Doesn’t he know that the democrat “journolist II” has already sent out the clarion call that salt water can’t be used to fight fires…

  3. I couldn’t help but question as to why all the waterfront properties backing onto the highway were allowed to burn when there was an endless supply of water lapping at their decks?
One could also ask as to why nobody in that expensive fire-prone real estate along the shoreline didn’t figure out that a rooftop sprinkler system with a back-up fire hose powered by their own gas pump wasn’t a good pro-active idea?

Its not like they couldn’t afford it.

    1. The PCH firebreak on one side … global warming sea level rise on the other ? What could possibly ever cause these homes to catch fire

  4. Thanks. Great post – especially that part of the video near the 16 min. point showing the fire in gale force winds. Nothing will stop that beast.

  5. lm not an engineer, lm not a metalergist, lm not nor had experience fighting fires, but to the crapola about ‘it will wreck the equipment’ shows the abysmal and rampant ignorance of those critiquing and calling the shots because brass for instance doest rust in seawater any tarnishing takes f’ing years, stainless steel likewise. and when l was doing scuba diving the rule was when we practice in a pool containing chlorine . . . . rinse !!! (and repeat lol)

  6. Great video. Addresses a lot of questions. I too wonder why the ocean front properties don’t have pumps in the water at the ready. Maybe they can’t?

  7. why do l get this on the starmer posting?
