Times- Jeremy Clarkson: Let Trump bid for Greenland — and Britain too
The Danes, who own Greenland now, might make petulant noises about losing it, but it’s costing them about £430 million a year in subsidies and all they get in return are 60 crabs and two bags of animal hair. So, on the quiet, they’d probably be quite glad to see the back of it. In the same way that a man might cry his eyes out if his high-maintenance wife waltzes off with someone else. But inside, every one of his internal organs is punching the air with delight.

This guy is adamant that Greenland should join Canada: https://x.com/TheRealKeean/status/1878662734952493075
dream on, keean. canadas dreamers and innovators are south of the 49th bro
Hasn’t all this talk of annexation gotten tiresome.
The US has a military installation already on Greenland. They are responsible for defence of the island not Denmark. Greenlander’s are uninterested in joining Canada, the US or Denmark for that matter.
Save some energy for governing the US Don. Your in for a rough ride. No honeymoon for you. The Dems and every Dem governor is taped up ready to go.
First, a recent poll had 57 percent of Greenlanders wanting a relationship with the US over Denmark. They want independence, so something like we have with the Marshall Islands or Virgin Islands would work.
Second, China has been trying to grow influence in the Arctic, both for strategic purposes and economic (they don’t want Greenland’s estimated large amount of rare earth minerals cutting into their business).
Trump’s words sound nuts as usual but make sense. Same with Canada. He doesn’t want Canada, he wants Canada to stop cozying up to China.
Take the 4 western provinces, leave the Mess with the rest of Canada.. Unilingual cereal boxes and 2A for me.
No, forget British Columbia and Manitoba – NDP strongholds – provinces full of grifters.
Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon, NWT and Nunavut – then America would have control of at least half of the Artic Circle as well as having access to the minerals and diamonds.
This, now: https://thehill.com/policy/international/5081836-one-poll-finds-majority-of-greenland-respondents-support-joining-us/
The “Amerimoon” does have a nice ring to it.
I don’t think Trump really wants to buy Greenland. I believe he really wants dibs on the oil and minerals. He is a master negotiator after all.
Isn’t it nice for a change to have a US President whose first response to everything isn’t ‘where are the carriers?” Personally, I kinda like peaceful competition.
I’m not convinced he’s some master at negotiations. I’ve followed him long enough to see a number of his deals go south. But so what, I want him to succeed – maybe Canada gets a kick in the ass and a reset.
Trump isn’t dealing with equals with national leaders, he’s dealing with slimy, career politicians who have little idea how the real world of business works. Now, you may be right about Trump’s past dealings in business, however realize this:
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Sometimes ventures fail, learn from that.
It’s a dog eat dog business world.
In the political world, Trump is master, as he’s dealing with incompetent sociopaths, that know nothing other than empty threats, and have no clue about unintended consequences.
Trump is a disruptor to the status quo.
Carry on El Donaldo!
Here in Canuckland, we are starting to see a cynical campaign of patriotism, that the hypocrite LIEberals will exploit for all its worth, at a vain attempt to save their skins. Be Wary of this empty rhetoric, don’t fall for it!
Sheesh.
Everybody is stupid? Who knew?
The only guy who isn’t is going to pick everybody’s lock? ok then.
In the era of AI with it’s superior cabability supplantly humanity, a crisis of meaning is percolating. What value does an individual’s existence provide? What is the importance of an individual? What should the National Identity of Canada be? The fate of tens of millions of humans hangs in the balance.
It has always been thus.
Life by itself has no meaning. You have to make your life have meaning.
Canada has needed a reset for some time now.
Nice history lesson by Clarkson … and he didn’t even touch the meandering Prussian boundaries! But he is 100% WRONG about the Panama Canal. America built it … and it should never have been given-away by that simpleton dolt, Jimmy Carter. The entire world will be better off if America manages and inhabits Panama and Greenland
Let’s face facts. we are all in a post rational state.
All is in flux.
What was, is no more.
But don’t let the globalists take the floor.
Take a stand for what matters,
An adjusted set of nation states, bound by rule of law and mutual advantage, is what we need.
Good fences inspire good neighbours.
We fought long and hard for that, and it ain’t gonna be made better, certainly not by misguided utopian lefties.
READ HISTORY, and quote Winston as needed,
Nothing new under the sun,,,sayeth the preacher.
AMEN
Offer 5 million $US and US citizenship to every Greenlander alive on Dec 31, 2025. US takes it over January 01.
Greenlanders spend all of January through March 2025 in bed.
I don’t see a downside here….
Say what you will about Clarkson, but he sure can write. He reminds me of P. J. O’Rourke.
