Gosh, that’s a shame.
They will get paid while off and their pensions will be paid. That is the real shame.
Candaians need referendums at every election for issues like this. A majority Conservative Govetnment just might deliver such a thing if pushed by the electorate.
“A majority Conservative Govetnment just might deliver such a thing if pushed by the electorate.”
Nice thought. But I don’t know which is more laughable, the “might” or the “if”.
Not likely
So sad… now, where did I leave that crying towel? – Oh – and could somebody please lend me your shoulder to cry on? Not you, Maestro; we’re gonna’ need a dirge on the World’s Smallest Violin.
And nobody worry – no need for hip-waders – I ain’t gonna’ cry me a river over it; pretty cold here at the moment!
“This was cynical and dishonest.”
Well knock me down and tickle me with a feather!
It also sounds too good to be true. If Justin was able to stick it to Jaghmeet on the way out the door, this campaign could be more entertaining than BC’s back in the good old days of WAC Bennett.. who actually knew that budgets do not balance themselves.
Finally, some savings for the taxpayers. Remind me again: why do we give these leeches a pension on top of their bloated salaries that increment every year automatically on April 1st? What was the justification?
I was taught back in the day that the “permanent civil list” was to prevent corruption. lol.
I guess Justin will get the last laugh on Jagmeet and his trough buddies!
Jagmeet will get his pension. He was elected in February, not October 2019. They idiots were too stupid when they said 6 years for pension. It should have been 6 years less one week to allow for scheduling. The Prime Minister could likely have the Governor General call the election a week later and she would. The date is up to her on recommendation of the Prime Minister.
6 years is 2 years less than a 2 normal election cycles. Why shouldn’t it be 8 years (730 days) or 40 years less a day, the same way it is if you want to get your maximum CPP repayment
Do we really want politicians in for 40 years let alone 8 years?
Boo fckn hoo
geez i am so sad. those poor unfortunates will be panhandling on the street soon.
Is this real?
I thought the pension conditions were defined years ago.
Anyone have more details?
The scheduled election date comes a week short of six years since the second last election, hence a special act to delay the scheduled election by a week. Note that the Governor General is not bound by the election date legislation.
Scar
Thanks for clarifying. I didn’t realize that election date legislation hadn’t passed.

It breaks my heart. If we had only known about prorogation of Parliament sooner, we could have freed ourselves of them all.
The Rogue (i.e., dishonest, worthless person) “Pro-Rogued”.
Words are fun.
Blackie used to be an amateur rogue, but became a pro rogue, thanks to realizing he is a narcissistic, worthless, lying, vindictive, mysoginystic, (sp), piece of shite.
It used to be spelled parogued.
Awww, muffins…
If you piss off Dear Leader he demands payback, even if you are supposed to be on his team.
What about C-282?
