I’ve never met a liberal/progressive who could tell the truth about what they were really after, i.e. their end game. Whether that be destruction of the family, legalized pedophilia, the crippling of the national economy or a full on dictatorial, dystopian Marxist hell, they always wrap their intentions in weasel words like “social justice”, “gender affirming care”, “minor attracted persons” or “fairness”. Hopefully more and more people are seeing through the verbal smoke screens to glimpse the nightmare that their policies produce. But we still have a long way to go to undo their damage and bring the ship of state back onto an even keel.
Most of them are too dumb to understand that the word “intersectionality” is not a description of something positive about their side but better serves to describe how the interests of their various special interests violently collide where they meet.
For example, a liberal will tell you they support transgenders as a basic human rights issue. They have no answer about what this does to the rights of the 1 in 5 women they say are victims of sexual assault.
They want to be the ones that have sugar when no one else does. They’re willing to see millions die to bring their dream to reality. Or might even prefer that millions die, it makes them that much more special.
That’s why they won’t tell you what they want.

It is interesting, but I would like to add a Canadian perspective. Last night I had Christmas dinner with my daughter and her fiancee, and several of their friends, ages 25-30. We of a certain age are interested in the cultural issues, and they are a symptom of the times, but we miss the forest for the trees. To a person, these kids expressed a visceral hatred for Trudeau, but it was almost exclusively down to the fact that no matter how hard they work, and these are good kids, they see no path to the life their parents had, let alone the opportunity to even exceed it. I did a bit of questioning on the cultural issues, and they are “like yeah, we don’t like the woke stuff, but whatever.”
James Carville had it so right, “its the economy, stupid.” The fact that Trudeau and his ilk the western world over have screwed an entire generation is what is and will be their undoing.

It’s not that things cost that much more, it’s that the money is worth that much less. Governments love inflation. It’s a tax that they don’t get directly blamed for.
Also, taxes are automatically indexed for inflation and then some. At best the government gets their % no matter how badly the currency is devalued. At worst it kicks you up into a higher tax bracket and the government takes even more.
Economics = Truth. No one can bullshit about the economy and their own economic health and prospects for long at all. Why? Because economics are the contemporary version of SURVIVAL. And every human is programmed to SURVIVE at all cost. Even at the cost of one’s political identity.
Kenji you’re quite right. The key word is truth. Economics has no bearing without it. On an individual basis certainly the consequence of bad choices is felt, harder if they are ignored.

Actually, lots of Democrats are coming to grips with the problems of wokeness at the behest of people like Yglesias, Silver, and Klein.
