I read an article recently about “Fat Positive” spokespersons. I wasn’t even aware that such a creature existed. Apparently these people preach that being obese is brave, natural and beautiful. That kind of stuff. Ok, fine. If that’s your opinion, then that’s your opinion.
However, the fundamental point of the article was to highlight how many of these people are now dead at a pre-mature age. And, it wasn’t just a handful. It was a whole long list of names of people who used to spew the “fat positive” message on Twitch and YouTube. Diabetes, circulatory issues, heart attacks etc. And, not one of these people on that list reached the age of 50.
I guess my point ties into the above content. Instead of developing a self-disciplinary attitude to address their obesity, they found it easier to excuse this shortcoming by taking the less arduous path. After all, it wasn’t they that had the problem. It was you for pointing it out. Only, people likely didn’t point it out (or didn’t have to). These people knew (and those still doing it know) that they are obese, and it’s not a healthy state. It’s why they take such an offensive (instead of passive) attitude towards their state.
