The bought and paid for media are excited about Justin’s temporary tax break. Of course the evil Conservatives must end the shutdown of business in parliament for this legislation to pass. But I’m sure that has nothing to do with it. The NDP lapdogs have already agreed to support it.

The opposition parties should say loud and clear, give us all the documents and the tax break will pass.
Let me fix that for you:
…unredacted documents…
Should
Justin and Christia are just lifting the tax shoe off of the necks of Canadian tax payers while they run off and put on the steel-toed, spiked logging boots to come back and assume the overlord position in a more meaningful way.

What a crock! Knowing that the government is running a deficit (and has been since Trudeau came into power), it seems that this ‘tax break’ simply adds to the deficit, so we borrow to pay for it (i.e. taxpayers borrow to pay for the tax break).
Also, I doubt it’s a slam dunk getting businesses to simply remove GST/HST on a certain set of goods/services (which I’m sure will all be carefully laid out by the Government – ha ha ha!) in a short period of time.
What else can be expected from this useless government and their NDP toadies? SNAFU!
Let me add “FUBAR” to your righteous “SNAFU”
Is this just an excuse for Blackie to attend the Taylor Swift concert at taxpayer expense?
Looks like Trudeau is preparing for an early spring election.
Handing out a bit of small pocket change to make us feel indebted to him and give him our vote …
He is being delusional … he is one of the most despised people Canada has ever produced.
I cannot wait to see him unemployed with nothing to do and nowhere to go. Who would hire this turd.
An even more corrupt and grafting agency…The UN
You may be right but he wouldn’t be the center of attention and power that he is now.
He wouldn’t be a good employee of the UN but he may try it out.
He has no skills and not much education. And he is seen as a joke by most of those who have had any discourse or have heard him speak, know that his is a vapid idiot and a fool.
Another !
Except that the temporary HST/GST tax relief will end Feb 15 2025, and the carbon-DIOXIDE tax will kick up another notch on Apr 1. That $250 gift to the ‘hard working middle class’ will just turn around and return to where it came from.
That $250 for “hard working Canadians” probably doesn’t apply to retirees since they don’t work. Always watch for weasel-words fron Liberals.
I checked and we retirees do not get Justin’s bribe. And all told Justin’s cost $6.8-billion.
Bread and Circuses.
Oh the sheeple, especially in the GTA, Ottawa and Montréal, will bleat praises to the Turd. Any vague promise of free crap always does the trick.
Ah, look, Trudeau pretending to care about the little people for 2 months, with an overly complicated plan on “tax relief” for Da Pore.
It would be so much easier and beneficial to every Canadian to just remove the Carbon Tax.
Those documents must be absolutely explosive in nature, kryptonite to the LIEberals. It’s interesting that Blackie doesn’t just PROROGUE PROROGUE PROROGUE his way out of trouble. When looking at the current list of proposed legislation tabled, he is hellbent on his censorship and pre-crime criminalization of this country.
He’s running scared.
“Prorogue”. Question: does anyone know if the time elapsed when Parliament has been prorogued applies towards an MP’s pension? It shouldn’t, and lots of Liberal and NDP MP’s are worried about the date of the next federal election.
Since the CBC likes it, the forgone revenue should come out of the CBC subsidy, no additional deficit, win-lose less.
Good thinking.
I love how the CTV articles says Among the dozens of consumer goods the government’s offering relief between Dec.14 and Feb. 15 are: and then does not list anything.
Michael Kinsley for the win.
FFS . Western Canada – stop playing your banjos and grow some b*lls. Climb down off your turnip trucks and get out of this mess. FCK
Maybe we should be nicer to Dear Justin.
He just removed the GST from Junk Food and Pop for Christmas.
The REZ will be thrilled with that, their food staples just got cheaper.
This illustrates the progressive mindset. Progs will congratulate and fellate each other on “lowering taxes”.
The average Canadian sees that taxes are lowered on some stuff, and not others. And they wont bother looking into it, cause nobody likes reviewing bureaucratic rules. Furthermore, the effect on overall bills will be negligible.
While I am no fan of Ford, he offered goodies the right way. Applies to everybody, is simple and straightforward. Like the Vehicle Registration rebate. Easy to message and brand.
The only thing the Liberals will get out of this is the cbc saying that “Trudeau cut taxes. Sorta.”
Progressives cant help themselves, they live and breathe bureaucracy rules. Just so they can say they are smarter than everyone else.
“It is not my fault Canadians are too dumb. If they had just registered their 2nd vehicle as a temporary self owned charity, they could have shifted 20% of their upper tax bracket to their spouse, adjusted backwards for 5 years, and saved a whole $20 on their income taxes.”
This government is insane and desperate. They want you to spend $$ so that the GDP will look better, even though we slick economically.
Temporary tax relief creates HOARDING behaviour, that will out-rival COVID hoarding when no one could buy TP. If I were a parent with a young baby, I would fill the garage or closets with diapers and clothes until they are size 20!
New handout Canadians will be all over this. This is the worst policy move since Mulroney introduced the GST in 1991, without eliminating personal income taxes, as he promised to do!
Anyway, I will be making my HOARDING list, while double-checking at stores.
This is a flicking nightmare for all businesses, as all of the computers are automated to charge GST on top of other taxes, so they will have to fix the programs to uncharge GST. How many more federal employees will have to hired to pay for this flicking program.
Can this federal government get any worse? Liberals are desperate and need to be voted out.
Meanwhile, I will be making my list of temporarily on-sale cheaper goods. Flicking idiots!
Trudeau, Singh and their minions are completely clueless (or evil) if they think a two month GST relief on some items will make ANY difference to those struggling to pay the bills. Oh goodie – just some more deficit spending that upcoming generations will have to pay for. An example of what families are facing – my last natural gas heating bill for a small 1100 square foot in October was only $43.00 of consumption but the carbon tax on that was $24.86. Nov to March should be something to look forward to. I know that the carbon tax also applies to distribution but this is ridiculous. Scrapping the carbon tax on utilities would be a start to give people some real relief. We need a DOGE committee here in Canada that has teeth. Yeah, I’m dreaming.
L – “Among the dozens of consumer goods the government’s offering relief between Dec.14
and Feb. 15 are: Prepared salads, sandwiches, and similar pre-made platters Dine-in, takeout, or delivery restaurant meals Cakes, pies, doughnuts, brownies, and other pastry items”

I predict a series of food fights will break out in the Parliamentary cafeteria. Maybe Canada wide?
Trudeau: “Look a squirrel…” Painted themselves into a corner. Soon, Trudeau dressed up as Santa and
his cabinet as reindeer. Gifting cannabis gummies down every chimney. While Klaus Schwab reads The Night Before Christmas.
I lost it seeing Trudeau and Freeland in a kitchen… witches of Macbeth, more likely.
Distractions running as news(fake) is the only scripted role left for the Mendacious Mainstream Media.
Recently announcing a drop in immigration levels, after raising them over 900% since 2025, not to take effect until after the next election, of course. (wink, wink). Now a pause in GST on essential items, like restaurant meals & pre-made dinners?
What a generous break for the many, many families that, thanks to him can not afford the luxury of going to eat out due to his inflationary measures, so they, instead are hanging out in the food bank line or living in a Trudeau tent city on the street somewhere. Can these Liberals be anymore tone deaf? How about cutting the GST permanently. Sh*t can the election stunts. How about turning off the endless supply of our cast to Ukraine and looking after everyday Canadians, to start.
No worries though. Free MAID and Free Boosters for everyone.
Let them eat cake for two months. Oh, how gracious, what noblesse oblige.
just my opinion who the f can afford to spend 2000.00 dollars on garbage food to save 200 on gst or pst these people are so out of it.no doudt the alot of people have given up
One thing this would do is artificially reduce the inflation rate for a short period. This reduces the increase to the amount of ‘indexed’ Federal pensions when they calculate how much to increase those pensions in December. (Indexing is based on the inflation rate) Therefore, anyone collecting Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Federal Civil Service Pensions and Military Pensions, will have a reduced increase.
Even a reduction of .1% will save the Gov’t $Billions next year.
Last year, these pensions increased 3.1%.
