Or if she gets enough votes to win Joe will quickly resign for health reasons. Then every effort will be exercised to keep her in power. I think the extensive security preparation around the Whitehouse indicate this.

    1. Not likely. He blazed the way to a landmark agreement on Canada/US/Mexico trade the last time he held the office. Trump’s targets for tariffs are nations that already have highly punitive tariffs in place on goods imported from the US, and the phrase “free trade” is therefore meaningless.

      Trump is certainly the only candidate on offer capable of recognizing and acting on the national security value of a productive relationship with Canada regarding energy resources.

        Yes, and the idea that Canada, the US or any other western nation should have a ‘free trade’ agreement with a third-world country is ludicrous. I will never forgive Brian Mulroney and his PC party for pulling the old ‘bait and switch’ on us by campaigning on the FTA then immediately turning it into the NAFTA. I was fooled…I voted for him, and for free trade with the USA (naively believing that it would apply to diary products here). I would NEVER have voted for him had I known that free trade with Mexico was part of the deal.

        That’s exactly the case, Kenji. ‘Free Trade’ requires one thing above all others: a LEVEL playing field.

        This crap was initially pushed by greedy manufacturers who saw an opportunity to vastly increase their profit margins by taking advantage of slave wages and little to no regulation of labor, safety or environmental standards. It has now become a necessity for virtually *all* manufacturers to move their production (in whole or in part) offshore, since they cannot compete otherwise.

      Canada imposes duties and tariffs in order to fill coffers.
      The USA does so in order to protect local industry.
      Canada’s policy in incoherent, and is a much, much bigger burden to local industry/business than anything the USA might do.

          Cars? Mexico is getting tariffed because of China building huge factories there to destroy the American Big Two. Stellantis is already dead, an apparent suicide. Ford and GM, the last two standing. Thank God Ford is building F-250s in Oakville, instead of electric vehicles. Maybe they can sell those in the Canadian market and make a buck. If the Canadian and Ontario governments stop trying to tax-and-regulate them out of business, anyway.

          All things considered, the corporations of Canada, the banks of Canada and especially the government of Canada all need a hearty kick in the nads. I’m encouraged by the prospect of Trump winning and putting the boots to them, high, wide and handsome. Nothing else will move them. Europe too, they are in exactly the same condition Canada is in, but without the oil.

          As to auto parts, do you actually think Trump would give China preference over Canada in the supply of products of that nature?
          You make a legitimate point that Mexico and Canada are the biggest trading partners of the US, therefore targeting Mexico because of their overt partnership with China in trafficking fentanyl to the US should actually increase US/Canada trade levels.

    As of 7:00am this morning … there is NO WIND whatsoever at my house … not the slightest wisp. But will that keep the State from interfering with my vote? And it has rained twice in the last week … nothing in N.CA is “tinder dry”. This is a deliberate attempt to suppress Trump voters … who are the most likely to vote ON Election Day … like me.

    1. Well … the wife and I just voted … she had her OWN sample ballot with her, that SHE filled out … I didn’t TELL HER who to vote for which Kamala thinks “garbage people” like me do.       We got the LAST parking spot in the church parking lot where we vote, but no lines, no waiting, no hassle. The church is next to a Regional Bike Trail … so I guess the Registrar expected we would bike the uphill mile and a half to vote?

      When done, I dropped my ballots (all 5 or 6 pages of em) into what looks like a pizza delivery box. Not a very large box … maybe a 24” cube at the largest. So I wonder what they do when that box gets full? Do they transfer the ballots to another box? Do they drive this box to the County Registrars office? What is the chain of command? I hope they handle these things better than the LAPD handled OJ Simpson’s evidence. “If I voted for Trump, the box must be dumped” … Right? Johnny Cochran?

    Who knows where the Latino or black vote will go? If the polls are out by .5% – landslide.

  23. If your polling numbers are not many,then the % of error becomes higher when you extrapolate to the size of possible votes. If it’s close,say within 2% and the margin of error is 4%. Then your polling is useless.

  27. Regardless of who wins tonight, resist the urge to buy in to all the baloney we saw in 2020. Educate yourself a bit on how elections work and the relevant state/federal laws. If there are lawsuits, read the actual filings rather than someone’s opinion on them, which is almost always biased.

    I can give plenty of examples from 2020.

No one with any sense at all believes that Joe Biden got 81 million votes, or that he got more of the black vote than Barack Obama.

  28. Watching Fox, the presidential race in New Hampshire is really tightening up. At 4:20 pm, it was a tie: 3 votes for Harris, and 3 votes for Trump. Ten minutes later, it was 3 votes for Harris, and 3 for Trump. Fifteen minutes later, it was 3 to 3.

    41 minutes after that — just a couple of minutes ago — it had tightened up to 3 votes for Harris and 3 votes for Trump.

    The counting furiously continues.
