  2. Once again, someone claims that the TPS is a systemically racist system, and that’s why she used her position to corruptly attempt to promote her chosen fellow travelers to higher positions in the TPS by providing them with answers to questions, and not disclosing her conflicts of interest.

    All of the officers involved should be outed, and her career should end, but it won’t.

      I used to challenge people to find me an example of real “systemic racism, in Canada, in 2020” (yeah. it’s been a while). I only had one taker in all the years I was asking, and only because he actually worked on a study of some kind for the government. After I eliminated his most obvious distortions:

      No, not an individual instance of racism by one person working for a corporation or the government.

      No, not the fact that there aren’t as many of the (______) race employed at a particular place as you think there should be based on their relative population in Canada.

      No, not hiring based on experience and merit rather than skin color.

      No, not insisting that they show up for work on time.

      Finally, the only thing he had left was that many natives had to “travel too far” to access government services, and most of them don’t have cars. That’s what he laughably called “systemic racism”.

      I decided that a $230 increase on a $1700/mo, 650 sq ft 2 bdrm apt is pure THEFT…and it is.

      So, I sold my 3 Season Citation RV – bought a 2007 Travelaire TT346 – 4 Season RV (built in Red Deer – SOLID unit), had Winter skirt built, bought some 60′ of heat tracing, proper drinking water hose and FK it, moving in July 01. From ~2000k/mo to 930/mo which incl. Power, water & sewer. Cancel Telus (bastards), get StarLink, & a PO box. Site has a nice FirePit, and is 2 kliks outside of Calgary City limits…

      While I look for work in Texas.

      …as for some new pile of Expensive Crap from Apple, I still rock likely the most stable, toughest unit I’ve ever owned: a 2011 14″ MacBook Pro w/CD drive. 13 yrs old and Zero issues. updated software, upgraded RAM & a 500Gb SSD.

      My other do to machine is a Lenovo ThinkPad T460. Also upgraded with Max RAM/SSD. That unit has the absolute best keyboard I’ve ever used.. Also I believe ~10-12 yrs old. (Paid 160 on e-bay for it)

      New & “Improved” does not always mean “BETTER”. I’d put either one of these against your avg $1200 New laptop from Staples any day of the week – may not come out on top, but…given what new laptops go for… $$ to $$..?, I’d blow ’em away.

      1. I have never had a PC, always Apple, since 1986. My current laptops are 2 macbook air, about the same vintage as yours. Found for free and fixed up for $200 or less. Very solid machines! I have a “Vintage Mac Museum” in my basement, I keep and repair vintage macs, just for the hell of it.
        All are functional and useful.

        Good luck on your move to the trailer park/campsite, if it’s the one i’m thinking of, we will practically be neighbours!

  23. A story from four decades ago. I got to know as a colleague, at Queen’s university grad school, a fellow who was radically left-wing (e.g., he liked the North Korean government). His wife’s father was a member of the Canada Communist Party, and was a very-high-up exec at Radio Canada. Anyways on Friday evenings on occasion I would babysit their 7/8-year-old son, to give the parents a break from the kid. (As a young man he spent two or three years in the CFL). Anyway, during one babysitting session I came across propaganda leaflets running down Lech Walesa — hot the time the charismatic union leader heading the amous dock strike in Poland. The propaganda was quite ripe. Showed Radio Canada true colours even back then.
