8. My sister and I noted this a long time ago in that there is the draft for players every year – much like a slave auction. I was gobsmacked some time back when I read that the average player in the CFL only plays for 3.5 years. The public always hears about the rich players, such as Tom Brady, but there are many who labor and only do “OK”. Back in the 1970’s, Canadian football players would have a spring/summer job as salesmen to augment their incomes and provide a fallback for when their playing days were over.
   Do not misunderstand me, I still think the players have a pretty sweet life, but it is definitely a short career as is all physical careers – such as dancers (10-15 years max), other athletes and circus performers. But hey, you are doing what you love to do.

    But I’ll tell you what ABSOLUTELY IS a slave auction! It’s called Letter of Intent Day in NCAA Football and Basketball. College sports that are a multi-multi-Billion dollar industry. An industry in which the workers, err “student athlete” players receive; room, board, and a rudimentary lesson in English. The NCAA absolutely is a modern day plantation that exploits slaves.

    But why is this extra-constitutional travesty allowed to persist? Because the primary benefactor is our hardcore leftist institutions of (supposed) higher learning. That is why the FREE NFL Farm System is allowed to exploit the health and wealth of these young men. Because Leftists PROFIT. Big Time. As does the NFL.
