Rishi Sunak has pledged to increase Britain’s defence budget to 2.5 per cent of national wealth by 2030.
The Prime Minister unveiled the biggest uplift to military spending in a generation, which will add £23 billion to the military budget over the next six years.
Won’t make any difference if they can’t recruit soldiers.

They can afford this too.
And Canada can afford to spend more.
It is a matter of priorities and I’d prefer they spend on Military over windmills, solar panels and Unicorn Farts.

Actually Wally it is 11,000 sidearms from WWII. So we are going to scrap military surplus that could be sold to law abiding Canadians and instead we’re going to destroy them. Typical Liberal government policy results in a lose, lose situation. We could sell these firearms to willing Canadians who would be paying twice for them but no, we’ll destroy them because ‘guns are bad’. How about since we’ve already paid for these guns why not run a lottery and give them to qualified Canadians and we can start preparing for the great melt-down when it comes.

Roger, ‘poverty’ has been redefined in the UK. It is now a household having less than 60% median income*.
When I was a kid (50+ years ago) there were some kids who lived in real poverty.
The rest of us had F all. No central heating, no double glazing, if you were lucky (and we were) a telephone (a ‘party’ line though, shared with a neighbour – if they were on the line you couldn’t use the phone), no freezer, no microwave, no carpet in the bedroom (five of us kipping in there every night), one toilet / bathroom between 7, etc. etc.
But that wasn’t poverty.
Now ‘poverty’ means only having one big screen TV, Smart phones for Mum and Dad only, Sky TV without the movies package, only having enough to buy 20 fags a day and four cans of Stella.
* And that 60% is before anything they get from the State, such as housing benefit……….
This military spending commitment won’t be to handle foreign entanglements. My wager is that it will be focused inward to pacify the native Brits once they get too ornery about full implementation of the great reset and how the Sunaks want to enslave them. Watch for this to happen elsewhere in the western world.
