  1. “Like many unfortunate things, the rise of advocacy took off with Donald Trump.”

As far as I was concerned it was airborne long before that. NPR and PBS stations were Obammy’s gushing cheerleaders.

    1. Even in their Mea Culpa, they find a way to blame Trump. Along with other unfortunate things he brought, mind you. There is no fixing this

      1. Gosh darn, if only Trump wasn’t around we wouldn’t hate him they way we do. It’s his fault that we hate him!

These people are like 4 year olds throwing a tantrum – cope, denial, and finger pointing, even when trying to be introspective. Pathetic.

      2. Yes and also in their Mea Culpa they cannot acknowledge that on nearly every issue of importance ,Trump was correct.

      3. “killing of George Floyd”
He’s still focusing through the singular lens of “Get Trump”
Seems one eyed Leftards are lifers.

      4. They’re really hate what comes after Trump.
Trump’s their best hope. After him, deluge.

    2. If you are conservative, you will read this and say, duh, it’s always been this way.
      But it hasn’t.

      Utter Rubbish.

I attended UC Berkeley as a hippie in the 1970’s. I’ve lived in Berkeley. I know how Berkeley thinks … but, no … I don’t drive a lesbian car (Subaru) nor a high-tech-hipster car (Tesla). But I have listened, err tried to listen to NPR for decades … and it has ALWAYS been leftist tripe. Oh … the soft-sounding voices are comforting to the squishy left … but they are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me as I listen to leftist trash story after leftist trash story. And yeah, the TDS is off the charts … even with this old white dude’s mea culpa.

But this old white dude’s REAL complaint comes at the end … when this good little leftist suddenly realizes he’s been DEI’ed out of existence. Only NOW … that OJ’s razor knife of DEI has come for HIM! Does he cop to NPR’s hard left spiral. All the prior LIES and lack of journalistic integrity are fair game now that those LIES are focused on his … “white old dude privilege”.

I can’t wait for him to admit that the incessant “Global Warming” narrative by NPR was biased garbage too. Because that topic constitutes about 60% of NPR’s programming. Yeah, they can’t even broadcast the sweet sounds of Parrots calling to each other in the rain forest, without reminding you that you’re killing the planet via “Co2 poisoning”.

      1. Kenji

        Late 1970’s UCSD medical center.
I hated NPR/PBS back then and still do.

My wife likes some of their programing. Long as I’m not around. (-:

      2. Kenji Re: “I attended UC Berkeley as a hippie in the 1970’s.”. I take it you are a reformed hippy. Reagan was a Dem once was he not? Maybe the old white dude can reform somewhat too.

        1. I’m probably a small-L Libertarian conservative. I don’t really care what you do in the privacy of your home or your closet … but when you come for the kids … I’m your relentless enemy. And I’m a logical and honest thinker. If it works – do it. If it doesn’t – then STOP it. Logic. Simple logic. And honesty. Flooding America with millions of underclass dependents is National suicide. Where’s NPR “resistance” to THAT crisis? Defunding the police and decriminalizing brazen theft … is National suicide … where’s NPR on that insanity?

          1. Kenji – but that is the whole point of Uri’s article, NPR is telling America how to think about these questions instead of doing balanced reporting that says, maybe flooding your country with millions of undocumented migrants is national suicide. BTW, don’t big L libertarians believe in open borders?
            Cheers

          2. Big L Libertarians pretty much believe in complete and total societal Laissez-faire. No governmental control over anything. Pretty loopy thinking.

I’m more of a cafeteria Libertarian … carefully picking and choosing the elements that should remain free and unfettered.

    1. It’s not a she…at least not for now. Methinks thou missed the hyphen between Sarah Lawrence (a US College) and educated.

      1. I was a bit surprised about a liberal woman having second thoughts. Now it wasn’t, it turns out. *laughs*

  2. What do you mean it just started???
PBS like CBC like BBC have been lying for all of my life. I’m 77.
    Liars are scum.

  3. NPR is the equivalent of the CBC except that NPR is limited to radio so the message impact of CBC is much greater being they compose a huge segment of tv viewership, especially in French Quebec where they are the most viewed…and it shows. Poor Québécois, many are conservatives in nature, it’s that they don’t realize it.

KENJI…fyi I answered your question on the Kate post below: « He was turning his life around »

    1. cbc is only watched by 7% of the population, which is a subsidy of over 2000 per viewer

harper should have wiped them in his first week

    2. Just read it, Metalguru. You know I was just messin with you, as I respect heavy metal far more now in my elder age than when I was younger. I’m more of a melody and instrumental detail fan … but I “get” heavy metals appeal. And no, I’ve never thought heavy metal inspired Satanic murders. Your words have also helped me evolve my understanding … and I promise to watch >> Metal, a headbanger’s journey<<

  4. “These are perilous times for news organizations. Last year, NPR laid off or bought out 10 percent of its staff and canceled four podcasts following a slump in advertising revenue. Our radio audience is dwindling and our podcast downloads are down from 2020. The digital stories on our website rarely have national impact. They aren’t conversation starters. Our competitive advantage in audio—where for years NPR had no peer—is vanishing.”

    1. Yes, the media has lost their credibility, therefore their audience, and therefor revenue. In attempting to turn things around they have experimented with every option except integrity.

      1. ” … they have experimented with every option except integrity.”

        Point Finale!

  5. “we are the baddies”..
    Too little too late.
    Enjoy the declone.
With an astounding level of TDS right out of the gate..
Obama, the most honest politician evah,if you use a truly odd definition of “honest”.

  6. This guy Berliner, like so many of these guys, thinks that we’ve all forgotten NPR’s behavior in the Regan administration, and the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and so on.

This has been a LONG time coming. They’ve doubled-down on it so many times they can’t even remember how it used to be back in the day. I do grant that in the 80s they wouldn’t bald-faced lie, they’d shade the truth and resort to biased reporting tricks.

Starting in 2016 they gave up on mere bias and began just freakin’ lying. These days of course, they report HamAss propaganda as it it were The Truth handed down from Olympus. NPR is now Nazi Propaganda Radio.

  7. For decades I listened to NPR; All Things Considered, This American Life, and, of course, Car Talk. I would say it was the best journalism on the planet. I’m sure the reporters had their biases, but it did not come through in their reporting. That changed over time to the point they became unrecognizable.
The Runaways, about kids on Long Island being killed by MS-13, is a prime example of the wokeness that has taken over NPR. Accusations of racism are levelled when the police grow frustrated with the families of the missing teens for not disclosing evidence they have regarding the disappearance of their own children. NPR claims this is racist because the are insensitive to the Hispanic community fearing retaliation from MS-13.

  8. I don’t know about anyone else, but I stopped listening to PBS News three or four years ago. I don’t watch any of their “woke” programs, either. Since I have access to two PBS stations (WGBH and KCST) I can still watch the the programs I enjoy. I stop watching immediately any program which goes against my own standards.

PBS is in danger of going broke because of their leftist and “woke” stance.

  9. Loved PBS in the eighties…MacNeil/Lehrer Report report with Judy Woodruff et al..Michigan Outdoors with Fred Trost on Saturdays, Nature, Masterpiece Theatre on Sunday night.
Then something happened and not in a good way – hardly discernible at first but you could sense the shift. Finally tuned them out altogether, I knew the direction they were headed and I didn’t like it much. Seeya later.
    A lot like National Geographic.

  10. When the guy said it hasn’t always been this way, I stopped reading. He worked there 25 years…………he’s a kid who got hired during the hard left years and now that it’s gone communist activist he thinks the old days were unbiased. Sorry, not sorry. NPR should be banned from the airwaves for their propaganda. Take CBC, BBC, and the MSM with you. No time for partisans.

  11. The NPR can FOAD.
    The sooner the better.
Up here in Frozenturdistan we need the the much more virulent CBC to be killed like a rabid fox.

  12. Good to see everyone here recognizes the bias and lying started a lot earlier than Uri claims.
