Breaking: NDP Add A Free Granola Bar To Go With Your Child’s Free Fentanyl. Why? Because They Care.

Jagmeet Singh is boasting about the NDP forcing the Liberal government to provide a national school lunch program…

I guess all that free recreational fentanyl is making children hungry…

‘No minimum age listed in protocols for providing youth with taxpayer-funded recreational fentanyl.

It seems that parents will actually be powerless to stop the government from supplying their children with fentanyl, as safer supply technically counts as a health-care intervention and youth have substantial control over their own medical decisions in Canada.

While some provinces set a minimum age (typically between 14 and 16 years old) for when minors can make such decisions, British Columbia has no minimum and relies instead on a fluid idea of “capability” — youth in the province are considered “capable” if they understand what a medical intervention involves, why it is needed and its risks and benefits.

Yet it is hard to imagine any scenario where a drug-addicted minor would be capable of providing informed consent for safer supply fentanyl, given that addiction hijacks the brain and inhibits rational decision-making. While adults have extensive rights to personal self-determination, which permits them to make impaired or self-destructive decisions if they so choose, it is hard to see why this same freedom should be extended to youth when it comes to using hard drugs.

It is true that many drug-addicted youth are in foster care or estranged from their parents, and that, for them, securing parental consent is near-impossible. Yet making an exception for this subpopulation, and permitting them to receive free fentanyl, could incentivize other underage drug users to cut ties with their families and run away from home to secure free drugs.

As parents are often a youth’s greatest asset for recovery, any safer supply system that undermines child-parent relationships is harmful.

In a sad twist, the same laws that allow the government to give recreational fentanyl to kids without parental consent also prohibit parents from sending their children to involuntary addiction treatment — in other words, the government won’t help you force your kid to get clean, but they will give them unlimited “safe” drugs against your will.

As I argued in my MLI report, “By reframing the provision of unlimited recreational fentanyl as medical care, the provincial government may inadvertently turn itself into a parent’s worst nightmare — an unstoppable drug dealer with endless supply and unrestricted access to their child.”

While Health Canada confirmed to me in an email that it did not play a role in the development of these protocols, it did not respond to a follow-up email where I asked if the federal government had any objections to giving recreational fentanyl to minors.’

  1. If my kids are strict carnivores are they still included in the federal government’s benevolence?

Ben is especially fond of ribeyes.

also, if Dr. Jordan Peterson identifies as 12 years old, will he be “permitted” to jump on board?

    1. Every time I see the free food for fools trope I think “someone should get in there and tie it up with some clauses about local, green, organic, keto, gluten free, fair trade, hand sown/grown, no till, zero waste, net zero, gaytrans indigenous colored farmer, etc”

      The children deserve it all!!!

Perhaps they should require consumer foraged too.

  2. I’ll bet that unrestricted, government fentanyl will be in the hands of kids faster than a plate of food at a school cafeteria in the national food program. Paul Wells wrote a substack about the new food program and it sounds like another farce of a program.

It is yet another announcement by the Trudeau federal government that infringes on provincial jurisdiction without notice or discussion. It comes with numerous strings attached and no guarantees of continued funding. Basically, a public relations stunt designed by Trudeau’s PMO communications team who are desperately trying to improve his polling numbers. The same old Liberal routine : promise everything, deliver nothing, blame someone else for the failure…and waste millions of taxpayer dollars in the process.

  3. Canada is a Socialist state! Quebec dictates to Eastern Canada and I would include BC as well ! With that about 60% of our electors vote for Socialist programs and governments! That leaves about 40% on the RIGHT side of the political spectrum!
Chances of us getting meaning full change is doubtful at best!
The West must separate!!! These crazy socialists programs will continue and get worse!

  4. is it true there is an underground fundraising to put a mission together, track down the whereabouts of these demonic things and machine gun them? any truth to that rumour?

  5. The lunch program will be another useless fedgov program that is poorly funded, and imposes substantial costs of provinces who make the mistake of accepting the initial government money (see also, child care, housing, transit, etc)

  6. How about Jagmeet push for a living wage for members of our military so they are not having to go to food banks?

  7. Any good bureaucracy’s primary goal is to expand the need for their services, thus justifying their plaintive cries for more funding which will allow them to increase the need for their services again. The self-licking ice cream cone to a T.

  8. OK, that’s it and you think you can’t be shocked anymore….

    “Free recreational fentanyl”

  9. Fentanyl…the drug of the STUPID. “Heroin without a heart” is what junkies called it. Why? No “feel-good” like you get from opiates. It just stones you right out into Zombieland. That’s how dumb they are…no clue as to why they started in the first place…

  10. If parents can’t get their own children fed … how can they possibly be reading to their children, or helping with their homework, or participating in their education in any way? School food programs aren’t doing a damn thing to “help children learn”. Hungry children need to be in Foster homes … not half-assed fostered into lifelong welfare by the government.

  11. Government agents pushing “safe injection”, “safe supply” and “harm reduction” are being paid by the cartels to sell drugs. It’s as simple as that. They should all be jailed and/or deported to Mexico.

  12. “By reframing the provision of unlimited recreational fentanyl as medical care, the provincial government may inadvertently turn itself into a parent’s worst nightmare — an unstoppable drug dealer with endless supply and unrestricted access to their child.”

I strongly question the use of the word “inadvertently” here.

Time to move out of BC, families with kids.

  13. in related drug infested society news Portland l believe has REINSTATED
laws regarding drug possession. aka it aint free now . . . .

  14. l will absolutely NEVER forget the cartel planted item in the newspaper mid to late 70s, coke really popular among the jet setters, celebs, hot shot brokers, that cocaine was NOT addictive.
only years later some bloke with a missing septum contradicted that., another ‘public service announcement’.
