The Libranos: Just Another Day In Bananada

National Post;

Canada’s auditor general recently fired and called in police to investigate two employees who had been privately earning money from government contracts they had not declared.

In a statement to National Post this week, the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) said it is still investigating a third employee that it also discovered had contracts with another arm of the federal government the employee had not disclosed to their employer.

The firings, which occurred between September and December last year, come to light as questions swirl about how a federal public servant’s company was able to obtain a nearly $8-million contract to work on the ArriveCan app.

  1. Dont know why, but stories like this evoke images of El Greco’s The third of May 1808.

  2. Destroying us and stealing our money.

Here’s disgraced ( never charged with a crime of course) ex city of Toronto councillor and finance chief who allegedly took bribes from Dash Domi in the famous MFP corruption scandal, who now looks like he owns a Porsche Dealership on what was once highly coveted city property assaulting some guy.

      1. They all skated.
Are their calculators on earth that will show us how many gubmint pensions Olivia Chow will now be able to collect?

  3. I hope Blacklocks takes the CRA to court over this. The Rebel did so and was successful.

  4. Meanwhile, over at the Department of National Defence, it is perfectly acceptable to be “working” at DND while at the same time getting paid by an outside party who has a contract with DND. In fact, DND does not even keep track of its employees that are also being paid by outside contractors.

No wonder Canada’s military is in such fine shape.

“There are no rules against serving military personnel or public servants at National Defence having contracts on the side with their own department or the federal government, this newspaper has confirmed.

And, although such side deals are allowed, National Defence admits it doesn’t know how many such contracts are in place.”

    1. “In response, the department announced that Yeo had been suspended and that it had launched an investigation. Because that investigation is ongoing, the department notes it cannot comment.”

Of course, the investigation run by DND will last until it doesn’t matter any more.

  5. Of course the government is corrupt, it’s always been the case, the obvious solution is to publicly fire everyone involved, not hid behind “due to privacy reasons” (i.e. we got embarrassed and they might sue)

That’s why it’s important to have a limited government, because it limits the corruption.

  6. Just like that involved senator that quit and bolted to Finland, nothing will happen.

In cases of government why do we allow the “presumption of innocence”?
Wouldn’t it be better to assume it’s always corrupt.

    Reduce the STATE.

  7. So whats the problem?
This is a fine example of both the ethics and performance of “Good Enough For Government”.
The current standard by which Canadians judge our performance?
Waste,Destruction and Deceit..Welcome to “A job well done”.
In fact every “Government Worker” could hold down a dozen “Government Jobs” and no one would notice any change in performance.
Fire, plow and salt..will not be enough.
How can we be sure, the corrupt are gone?

    Heads on Pikes?

Never forget, these are the same people who lecture us about “The Public Good” and boast of that “Good Governance” they provide us..

  8. Has anyone noticed a 40% improvement in government services since Blackie increased the government workforce by 40%?
Maybe the new 40% do nothing but steal from us.

  9. To be fair, the ArriveCAN app can certainly use a bunch of improvements. Very aggravating app to use.
