CBC: Polls close in Durham after voters cast ballots for new MP in federal byelection
Update: It’s a blowout, with a significantly higher margin than Erin O’Toole’s 2021 result. And a big drop for the NDP.

Should be a cake walk for the conservatives. If it’s not…
At this point the Libtard and Dipsh*t vote counts are down 8 and 7 percent respectively from the last general election. Jivani is outpacing O’tooles count in the last general election by 10%. If you’re a dipsh*tter you should be worried as they ususally grow in Ont when Libtards fall. By-elections are not very reliable for predicting general elections. But there is some hope.
And I just love that the Dipsh*tter’s candidate is a Borgia.
The “Liberal” candidate outed himself as an opportunist when he claimed the conservatives values don’t align with him any more, and joined the corrupt liberals…
Thank you Kate for posting this.
For some odd reason the media seems reluctant to call the results like any other time the results were so lopsided this early on.
Must be a narrative being maintained or something.
Well, the liberals just said they will fund the media until 2027, they have to keep up their end of the bargain.
614 voting liberal, unbelievable
Told to vote Liberal by Beijing?
Or perhaps they’re on the Liberal gravy train?
PPC had double the Greens – that is good news.
Wonder how many mail-in votes there were? Or will be?
Ah the Rhinoceros Party.
I remember working in an election in 1980, when counting the votes I was surprised by the number of Rhino votes at my polling station. My polling clerk figured there were a lot of student friends of the Rhino candidate.
Would have been hilarious if that guy had won.
If a Rhino candidate had ever won, you’d have seen the deer in the headlights look from him.
But he’d still make more sense than Trudeau.
I campaigned for a good hearty Rhino candidate in Toronto back in the day, and if he’d won, I assure you he would not have had a “deer in the headlights” expression. “Dracula loose in the convent”, more like it.
Candidates for federal elections in Canada no longer have to pay a deposit to run, and I’m disappointed in that Robert Rock of the #Libranos Party of Canada cannot be deemed to have so few votes that he’s “lost his deposit” …
I think the Rhino Party candidates used to lose the deposits regularly though there was at least one riding in Quebec 1980ish election whereby they took more votes than the local NDP candidate… which warmed my heart.
Somewhere, I have a Rhinoceros Party button with a picture of “Cornelius the second” on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhinoceros_Party#/media/File:Rhino_logo.jpg
Roughly 60 years ago, my Dad told me a joke about an election cycle where a Conservative man and his Liberal wife were going to bed and the man said “Let’s jump into bed and make a little Conservative.” The woman said “No way! We will make a little Liberal or nothing at all”. The back and forth went on for about an hour when the woman gave in and said “OK honey, I guess we could just this one time make a little Conservative”. “Too late” said the man, “My candidate changed to Independent and lost his deposit”.
They don’t do Dad jokes like that anymore.
OK, I am 56 days younger than Joe Biden.
Very much back in the day, went to buy a Rhino membership for Dad. Actually, as I recall, when I sent the money in (this is very much before the internet), both Dad and I ended up as Vice-Presidents. Dad loved it. Those were the days!!
The amazing statistic is that 35% of the voters haven’t learned anything and continue to vote for the Liberals and/or the NDP. PATHETIC.
Yeah I read this as even in Peterborough you can’t trust more than 1/3 of the people.
??
Peterborough ain’t in Durham bud.
I see the Rhinoceros Party is running a candidate called Adam Smith. Are they trying to corner the economist vote?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Smith
I remember the 1988 election when they ran a candidate named John Turner in the same riding as John Turner, the Liberal leader at that time. Those were good times.
Sounds like a fake name.
“Adam Smith” is also the name of the female to male transgender cashier at my local grocery store.
I don’t see what the big deal is. The Cons hold a seat. Big Whoop!
Nice!
5,973 55.4 %
Best part is getting rid of that self important modern day Joe Cluck – phony O’Toole. Controlled opposition and couldn’t retreat from a populist/conservative position quick enough. Pathetic. Hoping for better with Pierre but always skeptical.
Erin O Fool.
Another Uniparty c, for the controlled opposition, Yay!
Would like someone to check this but did read that the Liberal candidate was flirting with both sides until decided couldn’t go with something in the Conservative philosophy. Anyone with those flexibles principles deserves to be decisively defeated.
“Rock initially sought the Conservative nomination but says he decided to run for the Liberals because the Conservative party no longer spoke to his values.”
When I saw the above quote in the CityNews piece cited below, I immediately thought: ”that’s EXACTLY the soundbite that the Liberals put into whatever tweet or press release this article is quoting and RogersMedia dutifully picked it up and repeated it verbatim.”
What f*cking sheep. What “useful” idjits.

Leftists have values?
The Green Party was founded over 40 years ago, and they have two MPs.
And here they are now, getting 2.2% of the vote. Extraordinary that they don’t just throw in the towel.
The tusk is great before us!
Isn’t the CPC wknner, Jamil Javani, a National Post columnist? I’m terrible with names. His victory speech sounds like he’s a tough attack dog. Attack dogs are what’s needed about now.
Replaced O’toole eh? Big slippers to fill there.
Fortunately the pants are already filled. I don’t think that makes sense, but it feels right.
It was good, dude. Sliding-into-home filled.
Isn’t he the guy who CFRB unceremoniously fired for having the wrong opinion? Good on him.
The 35%? All work for the civil service.
Thank you Durham. Canada needs more people like you.
