I admire and respect DeSantis, but this wasn’t his time. The only reason I believe he ran now was because he got advice suggesting that Trump would be “removed” somehow. Just who was it that gave him that advice?
As for Trump not doing anything but talk, well… I seem to recall the U.S. economy doing pretty well during the first three years of Trump’s administration — prior to Covid (which the Dems were ever-so thankful for).
Then there was the border wall, which even though he didn’t finish it, it was remarkable that he got it started. I never would have believed he could have done even that much. Then there was energy independence leading to cheaper gas prices, low unemployment… I can’t remember all of the items Trump checked off. He couldn’t do everything he wanted to do, but that’s what the deep state constantly running interference pretty much every day during his admin would do to your agenda… from the fake Russian Collusion narrative, to the two phony impeachments… the second one as he was about to leave office. Truly incredible what Trump accomplished considering opposition that would have overwhelmed any average politician.
And the deep state isn’t done with him yet!
And Trump also had the economy roaring back one year on from the COVID-surprise (read: October surprise in January).

Sometimes a symbolic gesture is worse than no action at all, since it allows politicians (particularly Liberals and their ilk) to then turn around and proudly proclaim that they have ‘solved’ the problem…and therefore, no further action is necessary. Other times that symbolic gesture is the beginning of the end, as people notice and embrace it, and further actions are taken that actually do solve the problem (or at least begin to do so).
Only time will tell which scenario happens here. It’s Florida, so I hope for the best…

But if DEI hiring slows or stops, fewer students will enter programs that qualify them for DEI positions. That in turn means that the faculty who teach this nonsense will have less to do, resulting in a reduction in their numbers, even the closing of entire departments.
So it’s good to see.

Florida State University receives substantial funding from the state of Florida so it too will have to shut down its DEI bureaucracy.
When have you known the far left to capitulate on anything? This is a smokescreen. They realized they overstepped in the initiation by making it too easy to identify the fundamental purpose of the DEI representatives. So they will create more vaguely titled positions and carry on as they have under DEI. My guess is they will open up slots in the legal department under something like “Compliance Officer.” That way, the implication is interpretation of laws applicable to the college…when in fact the personnel will be doing what they did previously under their Diversity titles.
