Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Reminds me of catching jackfish / pike at Kenosee Lake in Moose Mountain Provincial Park, Sask in 72-76 …
good times, Kelvin and I used the smallest perch we had and kept it from sinking to the bottom with a bread bag we had taken for sandwiches as we didn’t have a bobber.
My favorite thing as a kid was fishing for perch off the docks at the boat launch at Kenosee. We’d use frog eyes for bait.
If you’d used the whole frog you could have caught the pike!
You’re right.
But not if you have a Barbi / Spiderman pole with knotted 5 year old line that gets used 3 times a year.
Start kids with panfish and live bait (frogs eyes are livebait) off big platforms or shore.
Kids like the constant action and hook each other less if they’re not casting and losing tackle / snagging.
Put the fish in a bucket to get the kids to lose their natural fear.
Made me recall catching giant pickerel in Lake Besnard, northern Saskatchewan back in the mid-90s. Great fun. (Except for the pickerel.)
Never realized pike would hit dead bait ?
I think they’ll go for anything. I’ve had them eat dead perch off a stringer hanging off the boat.
Then there’s the old gum wrapper on a treble hook trailed behind a canoe.
That was interesting!
Only fished a few times when I was a kid; caught some perch in a lake where my parents had rented a cottage for week so I now nothing about the sport.
?
did l neglect to post?
lets see how far this gets
Interesting…I bought a cheap underwater camera off Amazon this year, and got two chances to use it ice fishing. Way cool! Watched a lot of panfish eating the bait, a few bass and even a pike grabbing my little jig! It’s really neat seeing what’s happening under the water…
And then trying to figure out why the pile are snubbing my minnows.
Every time my Old Man saw Mitchell Sharp, turdo la first’s cabinet minister, he said he looked like a pike. He did.
Sonar and underwater cams will improve your game and teach you so much.
Those are really smart pike almost all of them have scars from recent releases.
Europe’s pike are bigger than ours same as their perch, we have so many unpressured fish we just think they’re all dumb.
Opening day pike on lake Muskoka.;^/
Tight Lines All.
Fished Lake Winnipeg last week with a buddy. Used a ‘Livescope’ – cool technology. No big pike but we didn’t target them. Still some nice walleye in Lk Winnipeg but nothing like it used to be
