Whatsisname’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunchor not.

FARMING in England is facing a crisis as thousands of farmers have accepted government payments of up to £100,000 to leave their land. The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) say that their ‘Lump Sum Exit Scheme’, launched in 2022 by Boris Johnson, aims to ‘support farmers in England who wish to leave the industry’.

It has been successful. Last month Defra told me they had received ‘just over 2,200 eligible applications’. Approved farmers who want to throw in the towel have until May 31 of this year to transfer their land, but there is no rule that says it must remain as farmland.

Contrary to a previous statement, Defra said: ‘The scheme itself doesn’t have any specific restrictions – however, we expect that most of the surrendered land will stay as agricultural land.’ Earlier they had said: ‘In return for signing up to the scheme, farmers need to either rent out or sell their land or surrender their tenancy in order to create opportunities for new entrants and farmers wishing to expand their businesses.’[…]

It comes from the Absolute Zero report produced by six of our universities, Cambridge, Oxford, Bath, Nottingham, Strathclyde and Imperial College, and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), a government agency. The research programme goes under the name UK FIRES with the convoluted slogan Locating Resource Efficiency [RE] at the heart of the UK’s Future Industrial Strategy [FIS].

They suggest drastic measures. By 2029 (five years from now), they aim to reduce beef and lamb consumption by 50 per cent. By 2030, they recommend that fertilisers are phased out, by 2050 all beef and lamb production should end and energy used to cook and transport food should be reduced by 60 per cent.

  1. Is the way to reduce consumption is to reduce consumers? That seems to be the plan considering those unexplained excess deaths. “Gee why don’t quite understand these excess mortality statistics. Must be a coincidence”.

    1. Basically came here to say this. Their carbon-reduction plan is to reduce carbon units, as the V’ger avatar was wont to say.

    2. “By 2035, they recommend that food availability will be reduced by 50%, by 2050 all food enjoyment should end and human energy used to forage food will be reduced by 60 per cent. “

  2. Re the “Related” link: wOw!! Lemons grew on trees and no further processing needed. Who knew?

She’ll be shocked when she finds out where electricity comes from; the electricity tree, right?

*sigh* Good thing breathing is an autonomic function.

    1. I think “Great Leap Forward” is a great name for the energy/emissions revolution we’re going through.

A Great Leap Forward to Absolute Zero

  3. I’ve seen the “I didn’t know you could eat lemons” video in social circles after having watched it in its entirety once. My daughters actually knew people like this, I’ve met them too.

At Thanksgiving a couple of decades past, my sister offered to help cook, and always, my mom would only say “Ok, come right in and you can help make ….. ” and said sister walked into the kitchen, opened up a can of cranberry jelly 99% of the way with the the jagged can lid stuck straight up and set the can down on the table saying… “ok what’s next?”

Sometimes I wonder how her kids never starved to death, prior to recalling how my mom “babysat” (raised?) her kids for her to such an extent the kids referred to my mom as “mom”.

So anyhow, as long as the gov’t of England is a benevolent and loving gov’t of England nothing bad will come of this.
I was especially entertained by reading that Jeremy Clarkson couldn’t see how anyone could make money by farming these days.
No one “needs” to be a farmer, when all your food comes from a grocery store.

  4. Green theocracy will do that to the human mind. Co2 is evil and we must remove it even if we have to eliminate people in the process. It’s for the greater good of our delusions of planetary salvation. The pathologically driven Brits (and all the bankrupt western welfare states) will self-exterminate while the developing world will happily nullify all the results of their mindless justification and sell them the tools required.

  5. People seem to have a remarkable tolerance for many, many restrictions and impositions; it’s part of their domestication. However, mess with somebody’s access to food, and things can get ugly really fast.

  6. This isn’t Green theology at work – it’s a hostile takeover. Farmers are being squeezed out in the name of Gaia so that ultra-rich philanthropists ( cough, WEF, cough ) can implement their industrial scale processed food farms. Insects, algae, processed food products will make a ton of money. Especially if there’s no competition and no other choice. As to the impacts to the environment and to the health of the population – don’t ask questions, you denier you.

  7. Bye Bye Great Britain
An Islamised Island Starving itself to death for 100K quid.

These “farmers” are definitely not from the same Genetic pool as the European cousins.

  8. L – If you’re wealthy political elite implement a policy of starving the citizenry.
The solution may be found in the ancient slogan: “Eat the Rich!”

If that’s comprises the first course, then normal agricultural production can resume.

*(Warning! Eating the stupid is inadvisable as that trait might be ingested, too.)

  9. “most of the surrendered land will stay as agricultural land.” – owned by blackrock, gates, and WEF.

“control foods and you control the people”

    1. Is that to say, in North America, on average, one vegan farts every 4 minutes? Or is this one particular fellow you know? and if so, how do I avoid him?

  10. And I’ll bet the British Farm Organizations are no different than their Canadian counterparts and describe this ongoing degradation as “new opportunities”.

  11. “The report asserts that AI and technology will help improve livestock health and land management and the words ‘biodiversity’, ‘net zero’ and ‘biosecurity’ appear often. ”

This must be a joke, or is it supposed to be placed in the Juxtaposition file. AI is eliminating the white race from history, it has already eliminated critical thinking from GEN X, Y, and Z, and now they are going to eliminate farmers. The politicians have already taken us back 10,000 years by creating a new society of ‘hunter gatherers’ (hunting the countries with the most beneficial social benefits and gathering all they can steal, coerce, or con out of the inhabitants) with their importation of illegal aliens who are intent on turning Western Civilization into the Third World countries they’ve left. There aren’t enough lamp-posts, trees or rope to mete out the justice that is so richly deserved.
