National Post- Federal justice minister’s vehicle has been stolen three times in three years
The federal government estimates that 90,000 cars are stolen annually in Canada, resulting in about $1 billion in costs to Canadian insurance policyholders and taxpayers.

Either he has a relative or friend involved with a car theft ring or he’s a complete idiot who leaves his car running with the doors unlocked.
Yes, this should arouse suspicion and be investigated. It’s either incredibly bad luck or some form of collusion and fraud. Maybe his next vehicle should be an e-bike, an old Pinto or other type of vehicle no one wants to steal.
Nah, he should take public transit.
Does it have to be an ‘or’, couldn’t it as easily be an ‘and’?
IMHO … 90% of all government theft … see: COVID funding and loan theft … is perpetrated by government insiders …
Every government employee should have all of their e-communications forensically examined … daily. As a requirement of their cushy employment
It’s these 3 that prompted their summit on auto-theft, not the 90K. They don’t give a f*** about you, and neither does the fake liberal Nora.
Oh I think she’s authentic.
A Liberal Wine Hag: too stupid to understand cause and effect.
So, would starving Nora to death be a victimless crime? She doesn’t believe people have property rights and food is property so starving her to death is a victimless crime. Seems logical.
Steal her purse dog and see what she thinks of that.
National socialists in canada have elected peak stupidity – congratulations are in order for this achievement!
What about insurance?
It’s mandatory but in California they’re climate change crazy and won’t issue new policies due to forest fires coming to get them.
Not that unusual.
The pattern goes something like this: your vehicle is stolen, you replace it with the exact same vehicle, it gets stolen, you replace it with the exact…well you get the picture. Kind of like Einsteins description of insanity.
Coming soon to a country near you, the death of insurance. Out here in Bring Cash they scare you into buying earthquake insurance. It was affordable years ago but no longer. It now adds about $1,000.00 to your annual rate plus a huge deductible. Mine was $85,000. I cancelled it five years ago.
Another oxymoron “justice minister”. It should be “minister of legal industry”.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer thing.
So I wonder what his kick-back is?
His kickback is a new Toyota Highlander. (Frequent replacement saves us taxpayers the cost of depreciation, maintenance and repairs.)
Loreto views insurance the way children view Santa Claus. Magical elves apparently pay for everything.
It is a question of priorities. Now that we have tampons in the mens washrooms, maybe, just maybe we can look at mass auto theft.
Given that the solution is a more stringent auto manufacturer regulation, which can be done JUST LIKE THAT, what is this really about?
It’s an apple pie, Chevrolet moment. Who would be for auto theft?
The Liberals have nothing left to campaign on, their policies are shite.
The dumb thing is, they pretty much had it solved and then they decided to try some exciting new technologies, so many new cars are now less secure than ever.
Every car owner needs to keep their fob in a protective Faraday style case. Fob transmissions are easily captured and decoded, typically by thieves using scanners in parking lots, targetting specific vehicles in demand. Wait for the owner to show up, press the fob, and voila, code/signal captured.
Follow them home, come back late at night after a new fob has been cloned, and steal the car.
EEZY PEEZY.
My fob, in a Faraday bag, has a very limited radius of operating sensor, by the car. Basically, the car only senses it within 10 feet of the car. Very effective.
Fact. Everything you just said. The cars with the old passive anti-theft chipped keys on the other hand, were as close to un-stealable as they could get. Nothing is completely theft proof (ultimately if someone wants something badly enough, they’ll get it, even if they use a tow truck to do it) but it was a lot more work to get one of them working. Then the manufacturers had to go and screw it up.
Well … you could live in Oakland …

The legal industry should not be establishing sentence parameters for crimes. It’s way past time for citizens to be setting them.
At least Juries are comprised of lawyers. Yet.
At least
Juries are NOT comprised of lawyers. Yet.
Sorry about that.
Instead of another government study, moratorium, inquiry, panel, why don’t we just go back to the good ole days, just hang the bastards. Steal a man’s horse or cattle and the vigilantes just strung the thief up, nice quick easy solution. Today too many bleeding heart liberals will say that is too severe, well that kept a lot of people honest way back then. But if we consider that solution too severe then the other alternative is to start a prison on nortrhern Baffin Island and incarcerate the thieves there. Perfect solution no roads, no cars, no reason for stealing. Air drop with an armed forces survival kit and let them build a structure to keep the bears out. Everybody is happy even the Greenies cause we’ll save the bears.
“The documents, shared on social media by CBC reporter Kate McKenna, show Justice Minister Arif Virani’s government-owned 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE was stolen in November but later recovered. The same vehicle was also stolen and recovered last February when David Lametti was justice minister.”
Is the Toyota Highlander built in Canada? How embarrassing the government keeps losing this vehicle.
In other news, the government plans to take a totally ineffective action (banning the flipper zero) because it’s basically a cost free action, and doesn’t solve any thing, but the government can say “look, we tried”
Did no one notice the tweet at the bottom of the thread header? :
“Imagine jailing people for a victimless crime”
Apparently it’s in response to PP’s suggestion that after three car thefts there should be prison. Why 3? Why not 2 or even 1?
Somebody steals your property, you take their freedom.
Its simple.
Liberals, however, are simpletons and they think the government grants you freedom.
And they only take that away when you disagree with the government.
Liberals, however, are simpletons and they think the government grants you freedom.
The kicker is, far too many [spit] Progs think that way, too.
I stand corrected.. All those 20 year old males Trudeau dropped on Canada do have skills after all..
