        And again, all this is ignoring the big elephant in the room, namely that all official russian stats are cooked up and bullshit anyway.

This too shall pass. What was middle class working in the private sector jumped on a first available plane out of Mordor when they still had a chance.         I did have some measure of respect for your views, even though many here think those views are repulsive… but claiming that Gonzalo Lira was not an American journalist, was working for Russia, simply for speaking out against Zelensky, and the worst claim yet, that he was not tortured, nor murdered. I myself saw his last video feed taken when he was on a bike 5 miles from the frontier trying to escape, only to be captured. He knew what was going to happen to him, and he was right.
        And all of that notwithstanding your attempts to dehumanize the man, which in my opinion, was crude, callous, and downright cruel.

            It is more likely that he skipped bail because he feared for his life, and if what you are saying is true, that he was nothing more than a Russian propagandist, and a declared enemy of the state of Ukraine, then I would say he had plenty good reasons to fear for his life.

            As it turns out, he did have plenty good reasons to fear for his life, because he is dead, and you can deny the cause of his death all you want, but the simple fact that he died while in Ukraine custody should be ringing alarm bells everywhere.

They keep war criminals in jail pending trail and they don’t torture or murder them, but they wanted to torture and murder Lira oh so much that that they send him to house arrest?????             And the idiot skipped bail and mangled his escape. Ukrainians probably hoped he will succeed so they would not need to deal with his bullshit but the idiot got caught in the most stupid way trying to run a checkpoint to Poland on a motorcycle right after a life podcast.             Russian war criminals are treated more than fairly in Ukrainian courts. Lira had no reason to expect a different treatment. Ukraine isn’t russia, courts are fair and prisoners are not abused or tortured.

            People get sick in jail. People die while in jail. Nothing exciting about it. Given that he cheered for genocide I am happy he is dead and offer no apologies.

Taking the GDP as a value of a country’s economy without looking at a lot of other factors like Debt. % related to government spending, trade balance gives a very incomplete picture of the state of a nation. Russia has problems but so do we, When you start to look at a problem it is never just a one sided issue and that even includes the Ukraine/Russia one. And when you start calling the other side insidious names it reminds me of a lawyer who told me once, When the other side starts yelling you know you beat him. If you can’t talk about everyone with a bit of respect you don’t have any,
    Are we all as a people the same as our leader and that is the way we deserve to be characterized. As someone who has friends from all of the countries including Ukraine and Russia I get to sit around and drink a few and argue and debate with them, and have a lot of fun doing it, and when were done we shake hands and hug and go home.
    Maybe its something others could learn to do and we wouldn’t be where we are now. You can learn an awful lot sitting around a pub table with about 5 or 6 different nationalities and having a very loud, at times, conversation.
    So when someone is calling a Russian an Orc, a black man the N word I find that person to be an ignorant illiterate and I take it personally because I have friends in all those nationality’s. Time to get out the bar of soap and clean up the site. How can anyone actually talk like that and still think they can offer a solution when it is obvious they are the actual problem.
