December 16, 2023: Reader Tips

This evening we present a cover of Satisfaction, as performed by Ksenia Buzina. Who is the lovely Ms. Buzina, you ask? A key member of Leonid and Friends, who I’ve been fortunate to have seen 6 times in concert the past two years! Here she is performing with them.

Your best tips are mightily appreciated!

  1. Pay attention there will be a test.

News #1 from Al-Reuters (behind paywall).
“Unfortunately, inflation has increased,” Putin said. “By the end of the year it is expected at 7.5%, maybe a little more at 8%, but the central bank and government are taking necessary measures.”

    News #2: https://cbr.ru/eng/press/pr/?file=15122023_133000key_e.htm
That is a third consecutive month they raised prime.

So ladies, gentlemen and orc supporters, they claim to be combating a potential 8% inflation with a 16% prime rate? Do you think that maybe, just maybe, they are not being entirely honest? Answer in the next post.

      1. I feel like I’m stepping into a minefield here, but I still have to say this. You’re not going to convince many people by continuing to cite left-wing sources.

        1. Ugh I quoted Pootin himself and linked to Bank of russia …

P.S. Are Gateway Putz and Zero Hedge the only sources considered reliable here are?

          1. COLON
Well you and alla unDORK, are considered unreliable IDIOTS, and BULLSCHIFFTERS. You are a mentally deranged fool, and NO you are not quoting Putin, you are quoting others (who claim) to be quoting Putin.

          2. You also cited “Reddit” and “Business Insider,” but I get it. Did you get Putin’s statement directly, or from second-hand sources in the media? Because quite frankly, I would have to fact-check a left-wing media sources if they claim that that a cloudless sky is blue. I simply can’t trust any of them to report “accurately,” as they have displayed oh-so-often their ability to… shall we say “embellish reality.”
…and please ignore the bigoted response from everyone’s favorite troll by the name of “GYM”

          3. “Did you get Putin’s statement directly, or from second-hand sources in the media?”

No I did not talk to Pootin personally. Are you serious?

Here is what he said, I gave you a translation:
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XfCaxj0B-A

Do you dispute that russia officially claims around 7.5% inflation?
Do you dispute that russian prime rate just jumped to 16% and that it was a third consecutive month that fed raised their interest rate?

Can you think of a logical reason why a country experiencing 7-8% inflation has 16% prime rate? Can you think of example when that happened? If you can please share.

As a bonus point: what do you think happens to anyone who a year ago took a flexible interest rate loan at say 8% and is now facing 20%? Do you see where their banking sector is heading?

“…and please ignore the bigoted response from everyone’s favorite troll by the name of “GYM” ”

Just like Dougie he does not even register anymore.

“You also cited “Reddit” and “Business Insider,” ”

One as a joke the other as a likely explanation of what is really happening. If you have a better explanation please share.

    1. Thanks, but no thanks. I’ll pass on the Drag Breakfast and tune in to the New Year’s Day bowl games.

About the only thing ‘drag’ I’m interested in involves seeing how fast an ICE-powered vehicle can cover a 1/4-mile stretch of pavement.

    2. “people wanted more family oriented activities”
So they’re putting men in dresses to parade their fetish around in front of children.
I wonder if that will stem the decline in family attendence.

    1. Sewage already goes back into the water system has for many years. The sewage from millions that live around the great lakes goes where, back to the lakes.

      1. Just a note: They’re actually serious about this “toilet to tap” stuff. No return to a river where treated sewage water is massively diluted before re-uptake re-treatment and distribution. The problem here is that synthetic hormones, which are not easily and certainly never completely removed will be released at much higher concentrations. This idea runs through the same pipes as the so called COVID vaccines.

  2. Copied and pasted from a post earlier today. FoxNews actually talks about excess deaths. The doctor blames the jabs calling it ‘Long vax.’

In any event, the first MSFM admission of excess deaths and letting someone blame the jabs.

FoxNews is letting people talk about excess deaths and the jabs. I expect the Canadian media to start doing this at some point to try to claim they were always balanced.

      1. I’ve been following that too.

I’m hoping something somewhere finally breaks soon and hunting season begins. It’d be refreshing to see governments scared of their people for a change.

    1. Well that’s a step up. They used to just chop off the victims’ heads. Or, for entertainment purposes, stone them.

  3. https://www.sspfirearms.com/2023/12/08/2024-ammo-shortage-substantial-price-increase/

Kinda wordy…wars in the world + ammo hoarding + rising crime + rising gun ownership = more cost.
    Supply and demand.

And you have arseholes I mean governments like Canada’s who will probably add a tax to ammo if they can.
As they fall in the polls the Liberals will mount more attacks.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/public-safety-canada/news/2023/12/legislation-to-reduce-gun-violence-receives-royal-assent.html

“This will allow any individual to apply to the court for an emergency weapons prohibition order against a person who possesses firearms and poses a danger to themselves or others.”

The Liberals have budgeted exactly $0.00 to buy back what wasn’t theirs to begin with.

“Trudeau Liberals budgeted $37.4 million and spent a quarter of it on a gun buyback program without buying any guns, records show. Newly disclosed figures follow an internal Department of Public Safety report that warned the program was prone to ‘wasted time, energy and funds.'” —

Anybody have the entire story archived?

  4. Bitumen beyond combustion: how to triple oil sands value, reduce emissions, and create an advanced material industry for 2% of a battery plant’s subsidies

“…Bitumen Beyond Combustion (BBC), …(is a concept) to divert produced bitumen from its use as a fuel towards using it to generate industrial products…including asphalt binder, carbon fibre

In a modern F1 car, as many components as possible are made from carbon fibre, including the basic chassis …F1 designers call this carbon fibre structure “virtually indestructible”; … twice as strong as steel and five times lighter…

It’s great stuff, but hideously expensive,…as a combustible fuel F(bitumen) is worth about $0.30-0.50/kilogram. As carbon fibre, the bitumen is worth $10-20/kilogram, and utilizes only about 20 percent of the barrel.

If one million barrels per day of bitumen is sold to refineries at $50/barrel after diluent removal, the revenue is $18 billion per year. If the same volume was used to create BBC products, the potential revenue is calculated at $42 billion”!.
PaulHarvey Note: If you sold $42 B/year of carbon fibre, it would no longer be selling at $10 – $20/kg… Supply and demand is a pretty simple concept. A good article from Terry Etam nonetheless.

    1. Ever hear of supply and demand? Push $42 billion of product into a market already fully served by substitute products and it is suddenly a $5 billion market.

      1. scar – That’s what I noted in the comment. Sulphur had a market until sulphur biproducts from heavy oil killed it. It has had a revival of late though.

So no jail time, and they fined him the amount of his profit. That is not exactly a deterrent from doing it again.

An Ontario man has been fined $100,000 after pleading guilty to the possession and use of thousands of fake toonies circulated in the Canadian banking system.

Justice Amit Ghosh imposed the fine on Richmond Hill resident Daixiong He at the Newmarket Court of Justice after pleading guilty to a charge of uttering counterfeit money back in December 2022, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed to CTV News Toronto on Friday.

He, 68 at the time of his arrest, was charged in May 2022 as part of a federal counterfeit currency investigation launched after the Royal Canadian Mint discovered “an ongoing currency issue through their random sampling process.” That investigation led officers to seize approximately 10,000 counterfeit toonies that had been placed into the Canadian banking system.
