Shutting down oil and gas has nothing to do with climate and everything to do with subjugating a sector of the population that’s much to independent and free willed. This western canadian “cowboy” attitude is dangerous to the people who want to control every aspect of our lives and the energy industry is clearly their financial foundation. Burn down the foundation and before long, they’ll see the folly of their ways and begin voting the correct way.

Methane is a green house gas, it is a trace element in the atmosphere at .07 parts per million! This concentration
is totally incapable to hold any heat! So this emission is doing zero damage to the environment (as if heat is a problem) ! The position that it has some mystical strength is a fabrication of the truth!!!!
Interesting as Dr. Sultan Al-Jaber (President of COP 28) pealed the skin off the lie——” There is no science out there , or no scenario out there that says the phase- out of fossil fuels is what’s going achieve 1.5 drop in temp.——-it would be impossible to stop burning fossil fuels and sustain economic development, unless you want to take the word back into caves.”
By their logic, that trace amount translates to an easily attainable goal that we should all happily embrace.
But didn’t he go back on that after receiving a lot of criticism from the climate zealots?

I am disappointed that prairie premiers are still using the climate change lingo and objectives. Do they still think that the voters in Alberta and Saskatchewan can not handle the fallacy of climate change rhetoric? Or do the premiers themselves still hold to the climate change dogma? Difficult to tell by the way they talk.
Personally, I think the solution to Trudeau and Guillbeau’s attack on Alberta and Saskatchewan oil and gas is to give them exactly what they want now…and immediate reduction in oil and gas exports to the rest of Canada. “Halve and Double”. Halve the exports of oil, natural gas and propane going east of Saskatchewan and west of Alberta but Double the price of oil, natural gas and propane going to the rest of Canada. By halving the exports and doubling the price, the cost is revenue neutral…to Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Let the other provinces negotiate the “Just Transition” of oil and gas with the Trudeau Liberal-NDP government instead of letting the other provincial premiers get away hoisting the entire burden on Alberta and Saskatchewan.
I too am disappointed, and let’s include Poilievre and his “Conservatives”. I note that, alone among Canadian politicians, Max Bernier has been saying that the whole notion of AGM is a fraud.
Wayland, I’m not ‘disappointed’ I’m extremely pissed at all of them, and yeah, Max is the lone ranger on a number of the important issues. What a pity he has zero chance to make a difference. Mostly because the whole political class is against him, due to them not wanting to lose their place at the trough!

Galileo risked his very freedom when going against The Church Doctrine by supporting a Heliocentric Solar System. You’d think our side would at least commission a debate that included anthropogenic climate change and carbon tax proponents and skeptics. I think voters, now feeling the financial pain of carbon taxes, would be open to hearing from both sides.
