Oh no! Disney has reportedly lost a billion dollars just on four of its recent “woke” movie flops…
You can bring movies to the public, but you cannot make them sell. Once an unassailable and uniting brand, Disney brand is now negatively associated with activism by a significant number of consumers. The company is now even reporting a decline in licensing revenue from products associated with Star Wars, Frozen, Toy Story and Mickey and Friends — iconic and once-unassailable corporate images.
The question is how long Disney (or its shareholders) can tolerate falling revenues tied to its “misalignment with the public.” It is a massive corporation and it can lose billions before facing any truly dire decisions. Yet even Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, now appears to be seeking to “quiet things down” after years of culture wars.

Disney may be losing billions but the makers of those flop films surely made big bucks in the process. So basically this amounts to a transfer of wealth from Disney share holders to those woke film makers who got all that cash.
Films released under the Disney brand are aimed at families. But people with children tend to be more conservative, perhaps a result of the responsibilities they take on. Or perhaps it’s because gays and transgenders, who are almost always progressive, don’t usually have children:

But even the biggest can be brought down if customers get cranky. All businesses live on a knife edge.
Disney should corner the market on popcorn so at least one business unit is making money while they self-destruct.

When Disney says “we have a misalignment with consumers’ tastes and values”, they re saying “we went woke, and are going broke”.
My opinion of this adherence to a woke business plan by Anheuser-Bush, Disney,Target etc is that western societies are being pilfered by continuous & nefarious means thru international money laundering, confiscatory taxation, made up special inquiries , wars, missing gov’t funding of obscene proportion, money laundering thru gov’t lotteries, human trafficking, the drug trade etc … well one gets the point .
People have a tendency to see these corruptions as separate entities ,though I don’t believe that the case. The deep state has long tentacles & deep pockets courtesy of all the massive pilfering, and as such can afford to subsidize the financial losses of companies that are on the fore front of the re-engineering of social morality and security as we have known it in the past.
In straight up language these woke corporations are being subsidized for their losses with YOUR money and also your sense of meaningful order. It doesn’t really matter how much these corporations lose … there’s an endless supply constantly coming in and replenishing itself with much of it landing in off shore accounts.
These companies are not about to go broke unless the powers that be deem it expedient.

This is just the Paris Hilton thing all over again. Granddaddy built the company and handed it over to successive generations of idiot kids who are more interested in treating the company like a giant trust fund bankrolling their idle fancies than stewarding it responsibly. Iger & friends will destroy the House of Mouse before they allow Nelson Peltz to return it to profitability because it’s ideological for them.
Personally I think Disney’s brands can’t be saved. The classic Disney/Marvel/Star Wars brands were based on universal societal mores and ideals. Western society has become too demoralized and fragmented for that to ever work again. Even the soi-disant “based” nerds think Rogue One was a good film.
