I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

Reuters;

Ahead of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s four days in exile, several staff researchers sent the board of directors a letter warning of a powerful artificial intelligence discovery that they said could threaten humanity, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The previously unreported letter and AI algorithm was a catalyst that caused the board to oust Altman, the poster child of generative AI, the two sources said.

  1. “Someone discovered something, so we tried to fire the CEO.”
    The media are just trolling now.

  2. Yeah but it’s MSN and Reuters. Same guys who pushed Russia collusion, Covid lies etc etc. I don’t believe a thing from msmedia. It may also be just a big hoax/snake oil move, to ramp up sales.

  3. Slowly at first … then all at once. The people creating this entity … hate people. They want us all post-birth aborted. Age is not relevant

  4. I’m glad they found something else that’s going to destroy the world. MYANiAN calendar didn’t work. all the computers shutting down didn’t make any difference.
    Ice age, global warming etc were getting boring. Come boys and girls jump on the AI hand basket elevator for hell.

    1. Yeah but we have a convincing movie about SkyNet killing us all. The other things? Not so much. Day After Tomorrow and 2012 both sucked. And the asteroid in Armageddon and Deep Impact will only destroy California, as we all know…

    2. All these different scare stories about how everyone is going to die: ice age, global boiling, nuclear armageddon, global famine, Covid, Ebola, Y2K, UFOs, asteroid strikes, AI. And somehow, the proposed solution to all these very different calamities is exactly the same: more power and money centralized into the hands of government “experts.” It is almost like the “solution” is the real point, and they are just looking for something scary enough to frighten people into going along.

  5. Nothing more pathetic than conservatives getting played like a violin for the 99th time by leftist scare narratives.

    The same people who eventually saw through the COVID scam and the UFO scam and the Ukraine scam walk straight into the “AI will destroy humanity” scam.

    No wonder we keep losing.

    1. Dumber society, something “easier”, money to be made, power over people, lack of accountability and finally just plain unchecked greed all around. And you worry about an ideology losing, how about humanity?
      If anything Conservatives are just too afraid of delivering a resounding fk u to the libtards after all they earned it

  6. Known as “The Forbin Project” AI could take control of all the nuclear missiles in the world because humans can’t be trusted. Seems like a reasonable decision to me. It even has a Canadian “researcher” from Newfoundland.

    1. Gordon Pinsent – known in NL as the Codfather . BTW Scott Adams pointed out yesterday – isn’t it funny the guy trying to come up with an alternate to human intelligence is named Alt-man. The simulation winking at us again

    2. That brings back memories. I remember when they introduced recycling, I referred to it as “the Four-Bin Project”, but nobody got it.
