Harrowing images captured the shooter, a frustrated elderly man, climbing out of his car to argue with the eco-protesters who had stopped traffic on the Pan-American Highway in the town of Chame.

He initially attempted to reason with the protesters, but moments later pulled a handgun from his pocket and began gesturing wildly as his frustration grew. Despite the imminent danger, the protesters stubbornly refused to curtail their demonstration and continued to argue back and forth with the disgruntled motorist, who became visibly more enraged with each passing moment.

For a time it looked as though the gunman was prepared to back down, but when one protester holding a flag stepped towards him, he snapped the pistol back up and fired at his target from mere feet away.

Terrified onlookers and other protesters helped move the victim to the side of the road and laid him down on the ground as the gunman calmly began dismantling a small barricade made of stones and tyres erected by the demonstrators.

Still undeterred, another protester wearing a black t-shirt and jeans tried to confront the gunman and was also shot. Footage shows how he recoiled from the shot, holding his upper chest in pain and with an expression of disbelief on his face.

  5. Yes, you do have the right to protest and get your message out. No, you do not have the right to impede other people’s right to their day-to-day routine. Leftists do not understand this concept.

Which is sad, but totally predictable, as was the concept that eventually somebody, somewhere eco-protesters insist on pulling this $hit, would “have enough” and start shooting, or just run them over. And what I also predict ( – you ARE sitting down? – ) is that eco-protesters all have massive, massive martyrdom complexes, and this will happen more often in future until they get the message.

    And what really doesn’t surprise me at all but irritates me no end, is that the police arrived and arrested him – why didn’t the police arrive and arrest the protesters in the first place, which would’ve saved two lives and solved everybody’s problems but the protesters’?

    And a bit of comfort for all – the one t-shirt that noted, “The older we get, the less of a deterrent “Life in prison” becomes…”

      It is not sad. They got what they wished for and deserved. Now they will become heroes and martyrs hailed by politicians with their faces plastered on mail stamps and pound notes to celebrate their stupidity. Maybe even a statue. They will become George Floyd angels.

      2. Whenever I see pictures of the eco-protestors/terrorists, I just want to kick them in the nuts. I have had to do this twice in my life, and have found it to be a very effective disarmament tool. I would also kick the women in the vagina, that would hurt like hell. I am a woman and the pain “down there” can be quite intense!

  8. The cops only turned up when the good American with a gun had already done their job for them. To arrest the good man with a gun, obviously.

    The pretext for the protests is the renewal of a copper mining concession to a Canadian firm. In reality, it’s an excuse for local Indians and radical labour unions controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, to force the mine’s closure. Put baldly, the teachers are traitors and the American did the right thing by the Panamanian people.

    1. The backers will get rid of the protesters once they have served their purpose of devaluing the mine, so that the backers can pick it up for a song.

    2. NEVER forget that the primary role of the police is to “protect” the villains from the righteous indignation of their victims.

      In the past, there was a fashion for police “cruisers”, and not just in the USA, to have: “To Protect and Serve”, emblazoned on the sides of these vehicle.

      I suspect that their VERY expensive lawyers told them to desist, because ONE “failure” could bring on a case for “false advertising” at the very least.

      This also may well apply to EVERY “agency / department that lays claim to “protecting’ anybody or anything. “Children’s Services”, anyone?

      Then again, ALL of these “organizations” are funded using money “liberated”, essentially at gunpoint, from the peasants.

      In many places, the “Social Contract” is very much a “unilateral gentleman’s agreement”.

    But I get called a hypocrite for supporting the trucker protest in Ottawa that also blocked routes and impeded people from moving.

    How does that square with the first two “protests”?

    1. FYI, the truckers’ protest did not impede movement. They left lanes open on all the streets to ensure vehicles could get through if they wanted to. I went to the protest and checked it out for myself.

      Saying the lanes were blocked is a Liberal lie repeated by lazy media hacks. That people like you believed that lie shows why this site is so important.

      1. You are so correct,316. I watched it every day and watched Viva Frei and others doing interviews. It was a great protest. They tried to do something similar in the SE USA, circling DC several times. Not as great as your protest but did bring attention to everyone plight.

  17. Anyone could have predicted this. I was wondering when someone would drive over the protestors in frustration. The good news is the protestors will have to look to the government “to do something”. Get in line protestors, with the rest of us.

    Are we for or against protestors blocking roads? What sort of reactions are appropriate?

    1. Against the mobs like just stop oil, antifa, BLM, and the Jew haters as they deface public/private property and are usually violent.
      The only other protest I can think of, which you may be referring to, had hot tubs and bouncy castles.
      The border protests were people who have jobs protesting government policies that were costing them their jobs. Plus no violence or destruction of public property.
      If you don’t know the difference you are lost.

They were protesting against the “local subsidiary of Canadian mining company First Quantum Minerals to continue operating an open-pit copper mine in a richly biodiverse jungle west of the capital for the next 20 years”

    1. Copper is desperately needed in a de-carboned society. Open pit mining in a richly biodiverse jungle is a necessity. Looks like you have to sacrifice some of the planet to save the planet.

  25. The old boy just threw away his remaining years. Had he waited it out he would have gone home and enjoyed a nice meal, a quiet evening, and the rest of his life. Now he will probably never see his home again. That is why I am against carrying around a gun; everyone loses their temper at some point. If his handgun had been secured in his home 2 people guilty of nothing more than being a**holes would still be alive and the old boy would be enjoying his life.
    And I am not an anti-gun nut. I have my R-Pal and own several firearms, all of which are locked up tight. But I know how people are.

    2. I agree with you. And am not an anti gun nut (I own the few guns permitted by Our Dear Leaders in Blighty). And I despise the generality of the Eco Loons. But two things:

      1. We don’t really know what the protesters were protesting about: general lefty greeny protest or were they directly affected by some outrageous/government/bribed scheme.

      2. I think it is a Christian (and my) view that you can’t do evil so that good might result. So shooting a lefty/greeny wacho ( even if this were the case here) is WRONG even if the world might be better with their absence.

      PS: the bloke is clearly not right: he just shot two people and carries on lifting logs out the way!

Re Police: The Lotus Eaters had a podcast yesterday (prior to, and unrelated to this incident) discussing why police do not stop those protesters or the Palestinian “supporters” and instead arrest people flying the Union Jack -that’s provocation in the UK – or those opposing those Eco-nuts. In a nutshell, the new police are woke and most often lead by people that have been raised/educated with woke ideology. Their marching orders from polticians that back the WEF agenda. They do not side with the law, they side with ideology and the current thing. If you look at the Panama video, this is far from a formidable blockade; a few old tires and logs, that a 77 year old man is clearing with one hand. Those governments agree with this, so the police let it happen.

    Blocking roads and daring people to run them over is one of those quintessentially Leftist things to do that leverages everyone’s basic decency against society. It took quite a long time, but they finally met up with some old geezer whose basic decency was all used up.
