8. Still don’t understand why Israeli civilians are not armed to the teeth to be able to fight back instead of being slaughtered by the muslims. Is this part of the Hamas/Israeli war to get Western support in this final battle against Hamas. Israelis are excellent warriors so to leave them exposed this way seems so wrong.

   1. Because as a secular society with the blight of leftist they thought the government would look after their safety. In the cities and tourist sites, lots of security. Out in the Negev, not so much

   2. I also had the same question … why were citizens (especially kibbutz’s) not armed to the teeth. Even the one kibbutz that successfully fought off Hamas had all the weapons locked up in a small armory , and but for one woman who organized the defense they would have been murdered.

      Leftism played a part but Israel (like Canada) doesn’t trust it’s own citizens and their leaders remember how they carried out terrorist campaigns against the British prior to Israel founding in 1948. It is almost impossible to get a firearm license in Israel. First , you must be Jewish and the onerous list of requirements proceeds from there.

         That wasn’t always the case, and I admit that I didn’t even know that the average Israeli citizen had been disarmed. I remember Orthodox Jews and kibbutz members walking around carrying Uzis or Galils, once. They also had a very low murder rate…so what happened? Why did they allow themselves to be disarmed when they were still surrounded by people who have vowed to kill them all? Makes no sense to me.

         It was certainly a hard lesson to learn, and I hope they punish those who organized their disarming, if they are still in government.

            Netanyahu either directly or indirectly was involved. Just after the Hamas attack he announced Israel would be buying (buying not releasing) 10,000 arms for citizens. Obviously they don’t have 10,000 small arms to spare !
