It’s his job not to: A former deputy minister of public safety yesterday testified it was “not my job” to warn a Conservative MP he was targeted by Chinese agents. Rob Stewart told the House affairs committee that foreign agents target “many people in Canada” that he never warned: “It was not my job to inform them.”

What the f*ck are we paying you for? Obviously, senior bureaucrats expect fat paycheques for sitting on their asses doing nothing. Of course, he’s a card-carrying Lieberal. He won’t be fired.
Mike, the old British sentence “I’m all right Jack” comes too mind. So loing as they get their $300,000+ salary and benefits, they don’t care much for others’ welfare. All these senior bureaucrats do is shift the blame to others to cover their respective asses.
“All these senior bureaucrats do is shift the blame to others to cover their respective asses.”
This is their primary talent, and what advances them to higher levels.
Well he is half way there.
Fire him, then job performance is no longer his problem.
However that denial of responsibility is the current go to for most of our minions.
We pay them.
They refuse to perform the task.
Firing and clawback of all past wages&expenses is a good start.
Followed by financial individual liability for the damages caused by their betrayal of duty.
Retribution can be such fun.
more money less service is the slogan of the turdo government
Like service was ever a thing. Government has served itself for years.
The only way a conservative government has even a slight chance to be successful in this country is to let every single Deputy Minister and Associate Deputy Minister in every department know that there services are no longer required and they are being let go, right on day one.
That would be great, but we’re not going to get a conservative gov’t, we’re going to get a “Conservative” gov’t.
“That would be great, but we’re not going to get a conservative gov’t, we’re going to get a “Conservative” gov’t.”
So true. No real, viable alternative in sight yet…
Figurative heads on pikes as a warning to the rest of them if they dare undermine/subvert implementation of the agenda. Literal heads on pikes if it comes to it.
In hindsight, probably Trump’s biggest mistake was leaving all of Hussein’s filthy, traitorous, little underlings in place when he took office. That, and selecting from the corrupt, dirty, shallow pool of DC parasites for his administration. Look how that turned out for him.
Think it would be any different for Pollievre if he didn’t take aggressive steps? Think a rat like this Deputy Minister or a Michael Wernick would dutifully implement a Conservative agenda impartially, as their job prescribes?
Better still, just eliminate 70% of all Ministries on day one, download all ministries that duplicate provincial responsibilities to the provinces and focus on legitimate roles of government. The rest of the term focus on deregulation, privatization, balancing the budget, and paying down debt.
A metaphor for the country.
I have been noticing over the years that a lot of our problems are related to the bureacracy . It’s time our media started looking deeper into the management of these departments.
the “Deep State” exists in every western “democracy”
O.H., of course it does and always has. It’s just a nickname for the ruling class.
As our political system has been turned into an exclusive club whose members wear different colored ties, we can expect little in the way of substantial change. A Triple-E Senate for instance, is never going to be part of the club’s agenda.
Why would anyone expect anything different?
Kind of like the minister of housing — an issue for which, by Justin’s admission, the federal government takes no responsibility.
Isn’t the role of the Minister of Housing, to direct money to Liberal developers, contractors, and consultants so they can afford more luxurious houses?
It’s not my job!
I believe the late Freddie Prinze made his career on that line.
if only the empty hair would do a similar exit as Freddy
The deputy minister should follow Prinze’s example to the letter.
Somebody that lazy and useless must be career RCMP.
To paraphrase an old ditty,
“The working class,
Can kiss my *ss,
I’ve got a gub’nent job,
At last!?”
Interesting to watch Andrew Bridgen’s speech in the mother of Parliaments today in as much as 600 + MPs that supposedly represent the British people were AWOL. There were more people sitting in the public gallery than MPs sitting in the Commons. I would love to hear the excuses from those absent. Possibly the most important speech in Parliament since the declaration of war in 1939 and the chamber looked like a mausoleum, possible a glimpse of things to come!
Meet the shiteous Rob Stewart.

All of these seem great potential Walmart employees.
I suspect they are unqualified to work at Walmart. Look at them – Poli Sci degrees every one of them (meaning utterly useless for anything). Not one of them has any experience in actually dealing with the public. And mostly doing their entire careers in Ottawa with the federal government. Why we the taxpayers would provide any one of them with a six=figure salary is entirely beyond me.
Also remember that these goofs got a two year holiday during Covid by “working” from home. I would just love to see an explanation from any one of these pissants as to what value they provide to their employer – the Canadian taxpayer.
Walmart employees are actually required to perform their assigned duties. And unlike with the public service, Walmart employees who stand (or sit) around doing nothing eventually get fired.
Migawd, there is a feature production of expenses Canada should not have had to bear
I agree, Kakola. Get rid of all of them and whatever remains of those departments would probably run more efficiently. And if the department stopped running entirely, no one would notice the difference to their lives, careers or personal health and happiness. These people are purely barnacles on Canadian society. Look at it this way; if the federal government disappeared tomorrow, no one would notice any difference. The governments which actually matter are municipalities and the provinces.
The only difference between Canada and the US of A is our swamp is smaller .
In raw numbers yes, in proportion to the productive population? Ours may well be more parasitic than theirs.
After a nice pause..Did anyone ask this Minion,a high priced minion at that,
“Whose responsibility was it?”
Cause I would be real curious to know,if this “Deputy Minister” even knew ..
“Not my job and I’m entitled to my entitlements”. (TM) Liberal Party of Canada
That’s why the document that describes his job is called an “act”.
Nothing wrong here…he’s entitled to his entitlements, that’s the standard Lib card and who is he to deviate from that?
Wow is contempt for the people is duly noted? What the fork are they paying him for again?
