Now that the Liberals are all done with the task of lowering grocery prices, they’re going to make sure that Canadians get better, more cost-effective service when they deal with a bank. I’m certain that a government which has zero interest in balancing a budget is well-suited to micromanaging your bank. What could possibly go wrong?
Freeland says she has instructed the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada to work on making more no-fee and low-cost bank accounts available to Canadians.
Finance Canada is also being tasked with taking a look at reducing bank fees, such as charges when a check bounces back.

Any bank that will seize your assets at the whim of the government is not affordable.
That would be all of them: to my knowledge, not one bank OR credit union refused Trudeau’s orders to freeze the accounts of Freedom Convoy supporters.
Not one.
Correct!
Beware the government subsidy attached to this (and there will be one) to offset the banks costs. Government wants banks MORE dependent on them to operate. This, in turn, gives government more control over the actions of these banks such as who can open an account, obtaining private financial information, closing out accounts of target individuals and businesses, providing loans to those in no position to pay them back…and the all important pressuring small people oriented banks to place themselves on the market for large monopolizing banks that already respond to the government’s whims.
Ask yourself one simple question. Do you really believe the liberal government gives a flying eff whether the great unwashed have to pay a few bucks when they write a bad check? Do you think they care about the minimal fees you pay to open up an account? There is no benefit to them here based on that motive.
The government needs to get out of the way and keep their slimy, money grubbing paws off the economic engine because, as a monetary mechanic, they are continuously leaving tools in the power train. Liberals’ faux compassion is always a moralizing trick to stick their hands into your pockets and rip out your wallet. They are highway robbers that rely on power of legislation to rip you off and then they pretend that they are Robin Hood.
In 2019, the Liberals gave $12 Million of our money to Loblaws, a very profitable company, to buy new refrigerators!
Why is Loblaw getting $12M to install new refrigerators? McKenna under fire for new funding

Loblaws is part of the Weston Group, possibly the biggest most wealthy corporation in Canada. One could say Irving or McCain but hey they are big, are they as big as Weston? 12 million bucks to them is like 20 bucks to me.
Remember Feb 2022:
TD to Freeland: “if you have information on particular people we need a way to share that information”, “if you list them as people subject to sanctions (ie as if they are terrorists) we could act swiftly.”
CIBC to Freeland: “We should think about putting the military in place to keep the border crossings moving even after the protestors are removed. To send a clear signal.”
RBC to Freeland: “As [TD CEO] said, if we listed them as terrorists we could move fast. And let’s be clear, they will eventually all move to crypto. The money has to go somewhere. If we list them as terrorist we could act more comprehensively.”
BMO to Freeland: “Agree with my colleagues … If you labelled these guys terrorists we could act quickly.”
I remember! I will NEVER forget!
More meaningless drivel from Liberals, every single policy they implement has been an utter failure.
Librano shakedown initiated.
She’s in lockstep with Biden.

There are already accounts with no fees and unlimited transactions available. One just has to look for them for their day to day banking.
But, Liberals believe, and know, the average Canadian is dumb as a tree, and , also trusts Liberals….
Just more virtue signaling from the worst government on our history.
I’m sure this will dovetail into social credit fees quite nicely.
I’m sure the onrushing CBDC will be completely “no transaction fee” for our “convenience”.

Just more BS, banks and government are bum buddies.
Progressive theater that Canadians soak up, see thru, and putter along, smiling like always.
While the can is being kicked down the road.
The low/no fees personal accounts exist on the backs of businesses. My small business fees (not the interest, the fees) continue to increase yearly. And we are charged to deposit cash including another separate charge to deposit change. Every account has a fee. Every year we are charged $2000 for, allegedly, a bank rep looking at.our accounts and declaring them ‘in order’. Isn’t that what my accountant does? Every e-transfer is charged a fee. Maybe thank a small business owner next opportunity for your lack of fees. And every bank does the same in my province. Thanks Jack Layton, NDP/Liberals.
