Daily Mail- Switzerland plans to BAN electric cars from the roads
Switzerland will ban the use of electric cars for ‘non-essential’ journeys if the country runs out of energy this winter, the government has announced.
Emergency plans drawn up in the event the Swiss are hit by blackouts also call for shop opening hours to be reduced by up to two hours per day, heating systems in nightclubs to be turned off, and other buildings to be heated to no more than 20C.
Crisis measures could see streaming services and games consoles banned, Christmas lights turned off, and all sports stadiums and leisure facilities closed.
Perhaps those using excess electricity should be made to pay a levy – perhaps named a Watt tax. Those who use more than their “fair share”, such as those driving electric vehicles, would contribute more to the new Watt regime. This would not be a tax per se, but rather a credit scheme that would be revenue neutral. Those who use more would contribute to those who use less.
Basically modeled after the carbon tax – just in reverse.
Oh you can bet your ass there will be a “Watt tax”. This whole global warming scam is designed to do exactly that…..more and more central control and more and more government. It is simply a way for government to absorb more and more of the economy. The wet dreams of Marxists and fascists (close cousins).

My cousin lives in Fullerton, they do their laundry and run the dishwasher after midnight.

A similar thing happened in CA … when every gasoline station was required to remove their underground gas tanks and replace them with complicated/expensive tanks with spill proof features … what happened?
It drove EVERY independent gasoline station operator … who routinely dropped gasoline prices in
price wars with the corporate stations … OUT of business Now? There are NO independent gasoline station operators … they’re ALL corporate stations. All of em. Now … Every gasoline station FIXES prices as high as the Market will bear.
Hence … gasoline costs $6 – 7.00/gal. in CA. Mission accomplished
This is a feature, not a bug. Trudeau and his apparatchiks would have loved to be able to have just shut off all of the convoy trucks last year by remote control. In an EV world, this is a piece of cake. Everyone who supports this arrant nonsense is handing tyrants another tool to control your lives. And all in the name of preventing a so called climate crisis that isn’t happening, and never was.

The Swiss have a LOT of hydropower and have added 5 nuclear power plants.
I don’t know and I’m not going to take a break and search, but it may be that the Swiss grid is the problem. They have good supply to cover the increased demand but no way to distribute the electricity to satisfy the demand. “The last mile” sort of problem, perhaps? I dunno.
Climate warming will help alleviate the Swiss problem.
