Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has launched an $8-million national ad campaign urging Canadians to protest Ottawa’s plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions from Canada’s electricity sector to net zero by 2035, saying it will lead to skyrocketing energy costs and blackouts.
The rest of Canada should listen, especially provinces such as Ontario, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, which would be particularly hard hit, along with Alberta.

Yeah well here in Alberta, my energy costs have increased 128% from this time last year. What’s being done about that? Nothing! That’s what.
You don’t really expect any politician to actually do something? Do you?
I have a bridge for sale.
That’s why I said “What’s being done about that? Nothing! That’s what.”
Which “energy” costs are you specifically referring to? Be specific.
Electricity.
I scrolled down to the last section which is “What are the next steps?”
I looked for the phrases “separation referendum” “provincial police” and “Alberta Pension Plan” but didn’t find those…
When the federal #Libranos refuse to negotiate on carbon taxes, (why negotiate? why not just refuse 100% of this?) on every escalating cost to westerners, what will be the next step? Are the feds going to send in the army? What army?
If Conservatives are elected in the next 2 years, will they shut the entire carbon idiocy down? or will they negotiate? When the federal Conservatives drop the ball in 8 years, and the #Libranos return to power will we have this argument again? What if AB’s Premier is then an NDP Premier, and we get stuck with this again?
Why are we staying within Canada? My parents say it’s because Canada is a great country, because it’s beautiful, and why does “the right” want to destroy this? and so we disagree comprehensively.
What a stupid country.
Even if we shut down all industry, turned off all cars, stopped heating our homes ,it wouldn’t change a thing on planet earth.
China and the third world would continue to belch out ever expanding amounts of green house gases.
When it comes to GHG emissions ,Canada doesn’t count.
And the pitiful efforts we in North America make are often counter productive virtue signaling anyway. (Even if you believe the nonsense). Just this week we have a new EV battery plant in Kansas requiring so much power they had to cancel decommissioning of a coal power plant. And the worlds largest EV charging array with 98 chargers (in Texas), that runs off diesel generators.
The Bong and TROC had better take Premier Smith serious. Alberta isn’t going quietly into the nite.
Her message is selling well here even as TROC mocks her and Alberta.
$8 million of “blah blah blah” that won’t move the needle, nor stop the climate fanatics in FedGov from implementing their “vision of the anointed”
The Supremes already ruled that because of the POGG clause of the constitution, FedGov can do whatever it wants in spheres which are expressly the domain of the provinces.

Some things people in Ontario (and farther east) voters might want to keep in mind in case Alberta and Saskatchewan decide to preemptively start the Trudeau Liberal-NDP fossil fuel reduction mandates by reducing petroleum products going east :
-TC Energy’s (formerly TransCanada) Canadian Mainline begins at the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and transports western Canadian gas through the Prairies to Ontario, and through a portion of Quebec
– The Sarnia NGL fractionator is one of the main sources of propane and butane for eastern Canada. It processes NGL mix delivered from western Canada by the Enbridge Mainline (Lines 1 and 5).
– Western Canada supplies most of the crude oil for Ontario’s refineries.

That is the key…..the valves are here. Exports of oil and natural gas out of Alberta/Saskatchewan should be cut to the rest of Canada to “curb emissions”. Do it in January for a month. It’s time to inject reality into the delusions of the Ottawa fascists.
Active resistance. Become ungovernable.
No energy need leave alberta. We can be warm and toasty and all the manufacturers in North America can come set up shop get the cheapest energy available.
Exporting energy is a waste… of energy.
So-called fossil fuels have been so thoroughly demonized, it’s inevitable that they are going away in Canada. That ship has sailed.
Hydro has big problems and new builds are doubtful anywhere.
The elephant in the room is STILL nuclear. It’s the only strategy that can save our way of life. What are we waiting for? It’s like there’s a media blackout. If we have any hope of being ready for 2030 or even 2035, we need to insist that nuclear be discussed and acted on. Ontario has made a start but is it in time? The window for our ability to procure these plants is closing fast, Alberta, Sask, and the Maritimes.
No…that ship hasn’t sailed. Not by a long shot.
“Hydro has big problems and new builds are doubtful anywhere.
The elephant in the room is STILL nuclear. It’s the only strategy that can save our way of life. ”
Hydro-electricity has minor problems that are easily resolved, and is still the cleanest, greenest most reliable form of *mass* energy production we have available to us. Nuclear is the second choice, and is not without its own problems.
Hydro where possible, nuclear where hydro is not feasible, LNG or clean coal only if necessary. Wind and solar are pipe dreams.
Hydro is not “green”….not by a long shot. The standard format for dams is “build first then paint green”.
“Hydro is not “green”….not by a long shot. ”
Compared to the alternatives it certainly is.
“Only when they think we might get out will they do anything to keep us in.”
Ted Byfield
Preston thought he knew better. And here we are Marc.
Ontario here – You can count on us. Nah, I’m just messin with ya.
Please shut down line 5 it’s the only way to get people to have a come to Jesus moment with respect to fossil fuels. Let’s see if they give a shit about net zero when they have to walk away from their Mcmansions in Sarnia and beyond.
Like the song goes…”you don’t know what you got till it’s gone”.
I’d suggest we stop using the term “fossil”. There are no fossils 3000 feet down.
If we did, then people might come to the logical conclusion that petroleum may not be a non-renewable resource.
This fiction is req’d not only to allow cartels such as OPEC to keep prices high, but also to convince people that one way or another, we’re going to run out some day so we had might as well start transitioning to other fuels.
And that is why politicians and presstitutes keep using the term “fossil”.
It is instructive to notice other terms these POSs continually use, especially when there are other terms that could be used instead, and statistically would be were there not an underlying agenda.
“I’d suggest we stop using the term “fossil”. There are no fossils 3000 feet do”
It’s useful as a term to figure out if you need to actually read an article or not. Any time I see the words “fossil fuels” I know I can ignore whomever is trying to preach to me. There is a nutjob named Norm Farrell who runs a ‘progressive’ blog called Insites (which seems to only exist so he can post attack after attack on BC’s Site C dam, for whatever reason) and he actually refers to natural gas as “fossil gas” (seriously…he does). You can’t talk to these people…reason and logic bounce right off them as they counter with accusations of being a ‘denier’ or ‘bigot’ or some other variation of “Shut up…you are embarrassing me!”
So I wonder how methane shows up on the moons of some other planets? Are there “fossils” there too?
Do you believe the spokesmen from the organizations that claim to have found methane there? Or who claim “planets” exist as we are made to understand them? Or who can see these moons that can’t be seen from telescopes available to the common man?
If you have a high-powered camera, you can see these “planets” for yourself. And you will note that they always look the same. Exactly the same.
Weirdly Jupiter’s Great Red Spot never changes. At all.
Even though we’re told it does, and have repeatedly been shown images (that we are told are pictures, and not CGI…) “proving” it.
It’s often a tell, much like “tar sands”.
Those using the term are purposely seeding disinformation or are useful idiots parroting the term b/c they share the same ideology.
“It’s often a tell, much like “tar sands”.”
Yeah, that too. Much like residential school “survivors”.
Add a tax on fuel sales to the east. Make it enough to negate the carbon tax on the west.
There’s something that could be accomplished immediately, and would be within Alberta’s power to enact.
And that’s why she won’t do it, nor will any other fake-conservative from any party pretending to be conservative in Alberta.
The same POSs control all major political parties. Depending on which party is in power determines which piece of the same agenda is advanced.
Wait and see.
I waited through the terms of Lougheed, Getty, Klein, Special Ed, REDford, Prentice, and Jesuit Jason Kenney.
How many more episodes of WWF do I have to watch before I’m allowed to come to the conclusion that it’s all staged?
More posturing to burnish “conservative” credentials while running out the clock and doing NOTHING to stop/halt/slow the speed of the idiotic, unasked-for, and unnecessary energy transition.
Even the ad campaign provides tacit acceptance of the anti-scientific lie of global warming and the “need” to transition.
Ever.
Just like Jesuit Jason Kenney, the fake-conservatives are putting on kabuki theatre to pretend they are taking action while fully intending to do nothing. Danielle, just like Jesuit Jason, will later be “surprised” and “disappointed” by the complete rejection of this action by the POSs in Ottawa.
Of course they’re both on the same side, so the disappointment will evaporate as soon as the cameras stop filming.
The Witch of Michigan has spoken;”Line 5 is unsafe”.
The (Creepy Pedophile?) convict in Ottawa insists Oils and Gas must go.
Alberta will have to act as if these “officials” speak truth.
Cause they are “Experts”.
Line 5 needs an immediate Safety Audit,by a Federal Committee on Oil and Gas transport.
Meanwhile Line 5 must be shut off, until said “Committee” can certify it safe.
After the first Ontario frost of course.
In fact in light of Ottawa’s proclamations, all east West Oil and Gas lines must get the same treatment..
Safety First..Right?
Media has been pimping AGW since it was decided it was the key to the totalitarian control the elites desire. So excuse me while I barf at this bit of pretense by the Sun.
The evidence that CO2 is not a thermostat for the planet and that it is however, fertilizer for the worlds crops and more is better, is overwhelming on both counts.
This is not hard to prove, and has plenty of hard data to back it up – as well as a majority of actual scientists.
You have 5 years Mrs Smith to educate the public on this – you are wasting time by not fully denouncing this fraud. And you will win reelection in a landslide if you do.
Just got my updated monthly bill for my hydro electric payments. I reduced my consumption last year by 6% but my monthly bill will nonetheless rise 5.8% This means my bill has risen 11.8% in one year. Looking at that almost all of the increased cost is in new extra fees like carbon tax on the delivery of my hydro. And being rural I don’t have natural gas. This is all hydro electricity, you know, the good green stuff we’re all supposed to switch to.
Be thankful you’re not living in Alberta. 128%
My last monthly bill was $640. That’s over $7,500 per year for a single bill assuming it stays in that range.
It’s clear why Rachel’s commies went to such lengths to hide the carbon tax from being itemized on the bill.
