  1. CNN has said it’s going to back to non-partisan news reporting, like it was (sort of) in the old days.

    This would seem to be part of that.

    1. I remember CNN in the old days: making cute stories about Saddam Hussein in order to get access.

    2. To be good propagandists they have to appear to be non-partisan, as they have failed in the attempt to make their opposition feel demoralized and isolated. Joe is the designated sacrificial lamb to give people the appearance of things working as stated since he is nearing his expiry date, and Hunter is too unreliable to let into the club.

Those 50 former intelligence officers who signed a letter stating that the Hunter laptap story had all the hallmarks of Russian disinformation — a letter which all the news outlets reported on, and which almost certainly had an effect on the last presidential election — must be finding things a bit warm right now.

      1. First, they’ve been publicly named, and high-ranking professionals tend to take their reputations seriously.

        Second, they used their status as former intelligent agents to change the course of an election, and some of them at least may have enough morals left to feel ashamed over that, publicity or no publicity.

        Third, they were proved wrong, and these aren’t people who like to be proved wrong (although they’ll argue that the careful wording of the document means they weren’t wrong).

        Fourth, they may have violated the law. Prosecution is a long shot, but there is a case to be made.

          1. The next administration when there’s a change in government. Plus as KM suggested, their own bureaucracies who feel humiliated by what has been done by their supposed superiors. There will be plenty within the FBI prepared to hang Christopher Wray out to dry.

          2. cgh… You’re assuming that there will be a change in government. You’re also assuming that the next election will be conducted fairly. You’re also assuming that there will be an election.
