      1. Max does not seem to be building or progressing towards any kind of success with his party.
        If he can’t win a by-election in one of the country’s most right-wing ridings (or even have a decent performance), the question is going to need to be answered.

        1. It would in a normal party, but PPC is a cult of the Grand Maxipad. It will never get anywhere for as long as he is in charge, and it will exist only for as long as he is in charge.

      As for getting a new leader, nope. I like anyone who can speak forcefully, and cut through the political BS, regardless of the consequences. Eventually, one would hope, Canadians will wake up, and Mad Max can ride the new wave of populism.

  6. There are many in these parts who are fed up with the MSM. Sometimes it’s good to remind oneself why. No better than to head over to the Atlantic and dissect their latest hit piece on the Bud Light boycott.

    They missed it right out of the gate. Bud Light is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, a Belgium-based conglomerate. It’s not an American company. AND isn’t the fact that a Mexican brand is now the best-selling American beer a good thing? Shows Americans aren’t racist.

    In other words the Bud-Light boycott is a social-media fad like the Ice Bucket Challenge. By now you get the feeling that James (the author) hates right-wing people and is mocking them. Waiting for the MAGA-hat-wearing, Donald Trump references.

    That was a very nice paragraph. He highlights the ignorance of senior management of Bud-Light because it is obvious that drinking beer has “no political associations” and Bud-Light drinkers are not “progressives”. Yet the marketing team turned to a trans-sexual to advertise the product to conservatives. He notes that even progressives turned against the brand. But he couldn’t come 100% clean (not taking sides) when he used the phrase “when its conservative customers decided they were offended”. They didn’t decide they were offended. They were offended.

    Some people call this whistling past the graveyard. And then he contradicts himself in the next few paragraphs.

Lots of companies are similar to Anheuser-Busch—producing for the mass market, relying heavily on the brand to drive sales, and facing competitors that make similar products. The record since Donald Trump’s election in 2016 suggests that such companies are vulnerable to potential boycotts—from the left as well as the right—and are almost certainly viewing Bud Light’s troubles as another reason to try to avoid any remotely controversial action.”

    It’s either Trump or global warming. But if you re-read the above paragraph, especially “The record since Donald Trump’s election in 2016” it doesn’t make any sense. The examples of successful boycotts (he references) are all pre-Trump yet something has happened since 2016? It’s Trump’s fault, see?

    “And that, ultimately, was the point of the beer boycott: not just to get Bud Light to back away from its partnership with Mulvaney, but to deter other companies from adopting any similar association in future. If the goal was to chill corporate speech, right now a lot of corporate executives are shivering.”

    The goal was not to chill corporate speech. The goal was to say “enough” to having the LGBTQ+ agenda stuffed down the throats of conservatives who just like to drink beer that is associated with strong horses and pretty girls (real ones). Conservatives have finally realized that the only way to get back at corporations that have gone full “woke” is to boycott their products. And it seems to be working. Very well indeed. The MSM doesn’t get this. So they play the role of the Incredible Shrinking Man. Whatever happened to that guy?

        1. Mexican beers are lauded as being second best only to German beers, as it was Germans that started brewing Vienna styles there in the late 1800’s.
          If you like dark beer, Negra Modello is a decent mass market beer, Dos Equis Ambar as well, although I prefer Bohemia Vienna. There are others like Indio and an up and coming craft beer market as well..

    1. Interesting – I had heard something about Saturn’s moon this week but missed the details (it was on the radio). Re: building blocks of life, I found iron-bearing rock in my yard, the same element found in advanced microchips. I keep looking for one of those but none have evolved yet. I am excited about phosphorus though, since we only have about 80 years of supply left on earth! That’s the kind of discovery that Elon Musk is chasing I’m sure.

      1. Mofa ,you should post this again. It isn’t getting the attention it deserves. Mulroney is still butt hurt about Meech lake. And if you ever thought there is a place for us other than serfdom in this confederation, that speech should dispell that myth. How will history remember him ? Well, there is the GST. That sure saved our manufacturing. What can you say – I always thought he was a blowhard idiot – but he shouldn’t have went full retard. I am sure he will be well rewarded.
