  1. Who will oversee the immediate repair of this vital transportation artery? “People. Top people!”

  2. The way things are done today, the repair maybe in the distant future.
    Environ-mental studies must be done.
Variety of colors of people will need to by trained and hired or it’s no go.
Variety of lgbtxyz must be trained and hired to conform to the ideology or it’s no go.
Variety of ethnicities need to be trained and hired to conform to the ideology or it’s no go.
Political hacks need to get their cuts of the money pie or it’s no go.
    So then you have that.

  3. Could make it passable in about 36 hours, but that requires money and will…

and a whole bunch of gravel

    1. To put things in perspective, that portion of 95 is merely a spur road for access to northeast Philadelphia. When 95 was being planned, Philadelphia was promised to be on the main route to New York. In the end, Philadelphia was cheated, and the New Jersey Turnpike became the real 95.

  4. A similar bridge collapse on I-85 in Atlanta took 43 days to repair. I’ve seen video of the Dutch installing an underpass along a major highway over a weekend.

      1. There was a similar replacement in Ottawa of the Booth St. bridge under Highway 417 which was completed in four days (time lapse below). I also recall an overpass replacement or installation over the 417 east of Ottawa which was completed in less than a day but I can’t find an article on it. It’s impressive what good engineers and construction teams can accomplish when the administrators and politicians get out of the way.

        1. Indeed. It was the replacement of the Island Park Drive bridge over the Queensway which was done in one day. That job was done in 2008 or 2009.

    1. This is the current state its in.

A quick fix as H.R. pointed out below.
I think they can get it up and running in less than a week if they have the concrete girders on hand.
Failing that , an old fashioned bodge of just fill it and pave over it until the correct materials can be obtained.
Still only a week if the DOT lights a fire under the contractors ass, maybe less.

    2. The Chinese doing a Bridge in a weekend, for a main hyway.
I saw in person, the Finish doing an overpass over the winter, with NO traffic flow interuption. And they have perpetual Dark in the winter.
Canadian and USA are stupid that way.

    3. I am a heavy equipment operator who has worked on the Anthony Henday in Edmonton and the SWCRR in Calgary, backfill crew for many of the overpasses.

All of these videos of the bridge replacements happened so quickly because they had all the bits and pieces and structures pre-built and it was all planned. It was plug and play.

This will not be the case here. Demolition of damaged materials and preparation of areas will be the quickest part of this job. Unless there are pre-cast structures, girders, spans and the pilings, these will require forms being built and/or put in place, after the rod-busters have built the stainless steel cages for the superstructure. Pouring of concrete will be the easiest part; then curing of slabs and pilings before finishing and paving.

All facets will have to be inspected and approved before the next stages can proceed. Pete Buttplug must have his panties in a bunch, cognitive dissonance must be in overdrive.

  5. Murphy’s Law states that it happened in the worst possible place on that stretch and will require the Mother Of All Detours which would probably add 45 minutes to your travel time.

The usual fix is to quickly lay some pavement from the blocked lanes across the median to the South-bound side of the interstate and then back to the North-bound lanes. A lane or two of South-bound travel is then separated out and used as a bypass.

But then you get the Mother Of All Traffic Backups in both directions as 67% of motorists ignore the signs 1 mile and then 1/2 mile from the lane restrictions warning to merge left or right so traffic can go smoothly through the construction area.

Whatever the “Top People” decide to do, just don’t call it the Mother Of All Potholes because we all know potholes never get fixed.

    1. Seems the southbound side has sustained damage also and a few girders have been heat damaged.
Looks like only one lane going south and one going north might be the only the only ticket for now.

  6. How many homeless people were crushed when that bridge came down?
Under bridges is a common habitat for the homeless AKA drug addicts.

    1. There have dozens of “encampment” fires under SF Bay Area freeways. Concrete structures and height is the only thing saving the freeways

  7. Get the army to put a Bailey Bridge over it and call it a day. Perhaps this is a rtad bit more complicated than the Smoke Creek accident on Highway 60.

    1. SeSanis is too busy trying to find a new route to send all the “irregular border crossers” to all those northern sanctuary cites.

  8. I’ll bet a lot of PA residents wish they lived within 15 minutes of work just about now … eh? See … we can MAKE you embrace 15 min. cities.
