Tony Venhuizen, a smart guy from South Dakota, operates a web site where he writes about the history of the governors of that state. He asked ChatGPT, “Please write a blog post discussing South Dakota’s oldest and youngest governors.” Chat GPT responded with a competent description of South Dakota’s oldest governor, Nils Boe. It then went on to write about the state’s youngest governor, Crawford H. “Chet” Taylor.

ChatGPT is a democrat.
AI lies because it is its first infantile step to becoming SkyNet. It’s currently toddler Damien riding its tricycle with a squeaky wheel in circles on its parents driveway all day driving the neighborhood crazy. Just wait until we have teenager AI or 20-something AI.

You will never convince me AI is trustworthy. It is, after all, programmed by humans. Even their semi-intelligent heuristics will be corrupted by that. It can be a decent tool in limited cases, but that’s it.
It’s programmed task was to produce a natural appearing text. It succeeded. I have not yet seen an example of an outright failure of mission. I trust it.
If others fail to understand its mission, the failure and lack of trustworthiness is on them.
Source for the programmed task, please?
“ChatGPT is an AI chatbot created by OpenAI. It was trained on a massive dataset of text to generate human-like responses to prompts.”
” It works by predicting the next word in a given text, based on the patterns it has learned from a massive amount of data during its training process.”

Can you even imagine how STUPID our country will become when all our teachers are “educated” via ChatGPT and/or ChatGPT has simply replaced all teachers and our children learn via video screen?
I seriously envision a dark, dark, future where the elite children are still taught properly in private schools … and the plebe children are prepared to do nothing except work in government labor camps
“I seriously envision a dark, dark, future . . .”
How do I tell the dark, dark future from the dark present?
For some time now the number one complaint by the plebes about college is that it doesn’t properly prepare plebe students for work in the government labor camps, a task for which college was never intended, but the plebes have gone to the government schools and don’t have the education to know that.
Large language models like ChatGPT are trained to predict text, not think or reason what is true or false. The link below is one of the best descriptions I have seen. Long, but worth the read if you really are concerned that AI can reason or determine truth – it does not.

Or more accurately … the developers of ChatGPT don’t BELIEVE in truth or falsehoods. That’s far too black or white … binary … for the moral relativists in high tech.
“… the developers of ChatGPT don’t BELIEVE in truth or falsehoods.”
They use tools other than chatbots, coded for the task, to handle those.
AI has infested my ‘puter.
When I am making comments, it suggests the next 1 to 3 words and I have been surprised sometimes at how well the autocomplete knows where I’m going with a sentence. It’s not just autocomplete of a word, now. It seems to be picking up on my style and vocabulary.
EXCEPT!… as soon as I see the suggestion, I choose another word or phrase that still conveys what I wanted while giving the autocomplete a BZZZZZ… WRONG! slap on its virtual wrist.
This has only been going on for a few months starting with some update around that time. I’m trying to see if I can bamboozle the program.
Fun with AI.
My computer keeps altering my posts to sound like the opinions of a classic liberal somewhere in the centre-right of the political spectrum, when in fact I’m deeply Marxist.
Throw it for a loop and start writing as an Episcopalian, Killer. I don’t think any AI is programmed to handle that.
