If [linguistics] had been real science, the project would have lost its funding years ago for lack of results.

It is immaterial as to whether or not linguistics has made any significant contribution to the sum of human knowledge. What is entirely relevant is that Noam Chomsky is at best an extreme leftist crank and at worst an apologist for mass murder. The first has nothing to do with the second.
He is also a great fan of Pootin.
Annnnnnd … the pony does his one trick
Annoying isn’t it? Always being reminded that you have lost your marbles and became nothing but a useful idiot?
Is that article from 2004?
From all of his blovations, I just assumed he was a garden variety hard socialist lunatic, who knew that he had some sort of academic career that involved blovating
Dear Gnome,
I agree with you, particularly with reference to John 1:14. Now as to the rest of your blatherings….
Pretentiousness thy name is Chomsky. I’m so intellectual that most people can’t understand a word I’m saying!

Great fan of Putin?
l believe Putin had his daughter murdered.

that caused the greatest environmental disaster since the great flood of Noah but Canadians need to send in your carbon tax dollars
I took symbolic logic from him in 1961. It was my only D at MIT. I didn’t understand him then. Now I guess I feel better about it.
That’s a plus. People who claim to understand him tend to be as big a pretentious asshole as he is.
I took a Linguistics 101 course back in the day and found it mildly interesting with respect to another aspect of language. You know, phonemes and graphemes etc. It enhanced an understanding of how words are made and spoken and complemented etymology.
That said, Chomsky is an ideological idiot that strayed well beyond his “science.”
Bilabially yours,

As someone who specialized in linguistics at university way-back-when, there isn’t a day when I don’t thank God that I chose to abandon the field. These days, linguistics is chock-a-block full of woke nuts who push the crank discipline of sociolinguistics (sociolinguistics is to linguistics what astrology is to astronomy).
Anyway, back in the day, a fellow student and I invented a character named “Choam Nomsky” – a brilliant political scientist who blathered out crackpot views about linguistics as a sideline.
Linguistics is a Science? At MIT no less? I took a second year Grammar course at university. Tough course and I learned a lot. It ain’t Science. Kind of like my kid sister’s Political “Science” degree. Definitely not a part of STEM, in my opinion.
Wow, watching Chumpsky hiding his dyed in the wool commie badge until minute 46 was a real treat. It finally came out in a way that demonstrates his lying sneaky approach (Buckley got him on false temporality) can only survive in a walled academia bestowing him the power of throne speach. “I feel a tone of moral and emotional falsness…” that being said I shall now proceed to lie to you.
That was fun, thanks!
Actually, loser projects are the most likely to be funded, these days.
All things green
Electric municipal vehicles and autos
Training people to “respect” diversity (actually much can go wrong as some cultures are a mis-fit) and inclusion of people who actually need in-care therapy.
Pharmacare for everyone = disaster
FREE pot and hard drugs
The justice system, especially bails and pardons
Gun controls/buy-backs for registered users
Lack of border control – many rules for real Canadians, but none for others and free hotels, $$$
no accountability for so-called first nations/tribes (some of us got here before you emigrated from the USA)
That is my short list ..
Welcome to Bizarro World.
I’ve always hated the bastard. In the Skinner v Chomsky debate, I’m firmly in the former’s camp; not because I believe in tabula rasa, but simply b/c I can’t stand the arrogant, Commie clown.

However, I do miss the days of civil debate and discourse:

Btw Skinner named his lab chimp “Nim Chimpsky”.
