Rishi Sunak’s Britain

The Telegraph- Sunak is pulling the plug on the North Sea – watch UK oil drain away

The UK is, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility, facing triple-digit deficits for several more years to come. That highlights the case not for sky-high taxation, but pro-growth policies to boost GDP, making the debt more manageable by expanding our economy.

Sunak and Hunt have instead imposed the heaviest tax burden in 70 years – and who better to tax than those nasty North Sea oil and gas producers?

  1. Perhaps they should put a windfall tax on Apple which makes tremendous profits.

    Or even better; tax lawyers!

      1. I am British my daughter lives and works in Canada i am worried about both of our futures asfor our so called government i want to string the whole damned lot of them up.Apart from Andrew Bridgen there isn’t one true conservative in the whole Conservative party,we are governed by one massive uniparty working under the WEF, i and millions like me have been completely disenfranchised and our anger is slowly but surely fermenting, what happens next who knows but it will not be good.

        1. +1 I guess in the UK you have Reform as an option. We have the PPC here.

    1. Oliver Cromwell will be spinning in his grave.

Al that bloodshed come to nought.

    1. And those entities being subjected to these punitive taxes will pass on the costs to their customers, the general public, and the band plays on. Look everybody Sunak is on our side against Big Oil. It is to weep.

  2. Sunak is an ex Goldman Sachs employee and personally I don’t think you’re ever an “ex employee” as they all consider themselves “brothers under the skin” for life.
Goldman Sachs owns a huge chunk of British Petroleum, a major player in the North Sea and anti oil Blackrock & Vanguard own large chunks of Goldman Sachs in their quest to own the world. Pays the piper, calls the tune and all that stuff.
    It’s a fairly big club.

  3. This watching the west committing slow motion suicide in every conceivable way possible is really getting old. When it all comes crashing down we need to make all those responsible pay.

    1. I’m going to sit beside the guillotine and knit. I read last week that EU bureaucrats were contemplating restricting meat consumption to 16 kg. per individual per year and clothing purchases to 8 items each. There is no rehabilitating someone that evil, nor should you try.

      1. And increasing the chocolate ration from 5 grams a day to 3 grams.
All hail our Glorious Benevolent Overlords.

      2. 4 Pairs of socks and thats it Bucko…!

        Glad I stocked up..!
Beyond insane…I absolutely will have the perserverence to remain on the green side of the grass….if ONLY to witness the hangings.

Cpl thou per day…. with any luck.

        Tucker for President. !

      3. I was just in Ireland … where I enjoyed the most delicious … fall off the bone … lamb shank I’ve ever eaten … in a small Pub at Lahinch beach.

I could literally eat nothing more than that sweet grass fed lamb, potatoes, and mint cream sauce every day of the week. I’ll stuff all the bugs up your nostrils if you get them anywhere near my dinner plate

  4. Do they want another Thatcher?

Because that’s how you get another Thatcher…

  5. Creating a crisis is a progressive specialty. I listened to a Tucker Carlson interview done by Dean Cain last October (it was excellent – a half hour well spent) – Tucker says he’s come to define the World in a binary way: someone is either a nurturer and a creator or they’re a defacer and destroyer. I’ve never seen, for example, one single die hard Democrat achieve anything that could be value adding to their constituents. Quite the opposite – the most powerful Dems are the best at value draining. And the saddest fact is that the Party of Maggie Thatcher has been transformed exactly into a collection of money and freedom sucking vampires. The North Sea needs serious Gov’t encouragement to keep Operators drilling risky expensive offshore development wells, testing out enhanced oil recovery ideas and pushing the boundaries with exploration investment. What they’ve done instead is tie every North Sea Operator to the stake and light the fire. Once they shut it down and leave the damage will be done and Humanity’s progressive engineered energy crisis becomes worse.

    1. Ship to ship transfer in International waters of illicit sanctioned oil probably by Venezuela, Iran , Russia and bought by Chyna.
A Dark Fleet ship with a questionable safety record, prepping the tanks and having no inert gas purge or grounding system working, goes boom.
Tell me again how Chyna has eluded all safety and handling protocals followed by the Western World.
How do they get a pass and we have to shoulder the regulations burden .
And our ability to compete with Chyna slips from our grasp.
      All about the Benjis/filthy lucre.

  6. I had a theory that the government is trying to steal oil & gas assets by taxing the existing owners until they sell out at a discount and the “Friends of Government” swoop in to making a killing. I think I’ll keep that thought to myself.

  7. “The power to tax is the power to destroy.” – US Supreme Court Justice John Marshall, 1819.

“When you tax a man’s income, his income goes down. The power to tax is the power to destroy.

When you tax a man’s income, you are taxing his employment. So unemployment rises and employment goes down. The power to tax is the power to destroy.

“When you tax a man’s ability to work, he works less. True productivity goes down. The power to tax is the power to destroy.

When you tax a man’s work, you tax the chief source of his freedom. “Six days thou shalt labor…” The power to tax is the power to destroy.”

Freedom is beyond a government’s ability to control (although they will try!). Freedom comes from God. Our Creator endows men with certain unalienable rights. Among them is Liberty. When a government tries to tax Freedom, it moves to different shores. ”

  8. They head fake the Scots into giving up the lions share of their reserves. (We’re good at being befuzzked by the Brit’s).

    Drill, drill, drill.

Oh look Scottish independence is back on the menu.

    Shut ‘em in.

Harold Wilson look up at the squalor with labourious glee.
