Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Keep farming, mining, extracting oil and gas, and build the infrastructure needed to prosper.
Seconded. All in favor? Carried.
Everything? Nothing? The devil is in the details.
“The next step IS THE establishment of the economic tribunal. The economic tribunal is a crucial part of The Saskatchewan First Act. It’s an independent tribunal, which will look at the economic harm and impact of federal policies“
No need for a tribunal.
See VOWG above.
I started to read the ministers comments and all I can think of is why don’t you just get the government out of the way of the people that make this country work? It’s so simple but they have to blather on about how “ they “ are going to do this or that. B. S. ! “They “ cause most of the problems that the taxpayer, the economy, have to pay for, and stand there pretending to be the solution. I believe they are trying to do the right thing but it’s a long road and they better grab a set if they are going to see it through!
The Act is meaningless.
The will to follow through on it is everything.
Bingo!
We will know shortly whether they intend to stand behind it, or whether it’s just another paper tiger created for the sole purpose of finger-pointing at the feds… who will predictably react by court challenge and/or the withdrawal of federal benefits/services.
See, censorship right up there and this is canada. ha freaking ha. Can’t reply to my own post when the censor is on board.
Dear Danielle Smith:
Please get board with Sask on this. Maybe share the costs for both the research and the lawfare coming out of it? Sometimes two heads really are better than one, and we certainly all face the same threats from Ottawa.
thanks!
Generating all electricity without fossil fuels by 2035 is of course impossible; because, laws of physics and stuff like that. Never mind that there is no scientific basis for such an initiative. Great way to impoverish the citizens and destroy the environment, though.
Couple comments and potential Q’s for the minister next time you have her attention
1) Given that wind and solar are unreliable forms of power generation how does the Saskatchewan Party justify throwing more money down this economic black hole? Let someone else figure it out (if indeed that circle can be squared) and then implement. Tell Ottawa to lead on this. After they can run everything this way we’ll be right behind.
2) The economic tribunal – how will this be determined? Government appointment? That’s likely ok with the Sask Party in power, but what happens if/when, God forbid, the speNDP gets back in?
3) As for the various groups bleating on about how they have not been consulted I suggest the Sask Party carefully look at any expenditures they have in these areas that could/should be picked up by the federal government. Present said groups with a list of the services/policies and amounts spent provincially. Then ask them if they want the feds to take those over for them or would they rather the province continue as is.
4) Lastly, regarding keeping the lights on and people fed. Tell the feds “Molon Labe” wrt power and fertilizer.
Is getting rid of the RCMP in that bill?
Is replacing Canada Pension Plan with Saskatchewan Pension Plan in that bill?
Pssst. The federal government is your enemy.
Pass it on.
Terrible idea. The “economic tribunal” is an instrument that’ll be used by the opposition to hammer the piss out of you. Lies of Big Oil/Big Coal/Big Nuclear or whatever funding economic impact studies are sure to come …bias…ignoring Indigenous land rights/claims…money for health care and the list goes on and on.
Don’t go there. I get that you’re using it to dot your i’s and cross your t’s from a legal perspective but it’s a double edged sword.
Just say no and start drilling and farming. Tell the feds you’ll see them in court.
Tweet from Scott Moe several days ago – “While the Saskatchewan Party was standing up for Saskatchewan, the NDP chose to stand up for the Trudeau-Singh coalition.”
Fair enough…I mean, it’s common knowledge right?
Response tweet from Aleana Young Sask NDP Economic critic: Actually, it was hundreds of indigenous leaders and @metisnationsaskstanding in solidarity with *us* but maybe all POC look the same to you“♀️
Ah yes, the tried and true “slander them when you’ve lost the debate” card. Know your enemy. Yes, I know Brian, you like to provide “balance” on your blog but I’ll be damned if I’m going to take lectures from a cheese expert.
To each their own, but remember the cheese expert also spent something like five years working for the Petroleum Technology Research Centre, so she probably knows a bit more about this stuff than much of the rest of the caucus.
I ask hard questions of all sides.
And I refer to Pipeline Online as a news site, not a blog. I’ve been a reporter/editor most of my life. Not a blogger. There is a difference. But thanks for reading it on occasion.
These damned cheese experts havarti pretensions!
“but remember the cheese expert also spent something like five years working for the Petroleum Technology Research Centre, …”
*Golf clap* Sorry Brian, I’m just not impressed. And to claim she knows more than the rest of her NDP colleagues is a pretty low bar. She also claims Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as her personal hero which to me doesn’t exactly scream “drill, baby, drill”. Short story: Young doesn’t give a shit about you or energy workers… to her it’s all about ideology although she lacks the guts to come out and say it publicly. Hey, you know what? Give her an opportunity for another interview. That’d be fun.
Pro tip : The PTRC are not your friends and never will be although they talk a really good line. I’m assuming of course, like me you’re a “fossil fuels make all of our lives better” kind of guy. If I’m wrong, let me know.
And yes, I get it. You’re a news site. Apologies.
My bad.
Banning things based on questionable computer models (bad science) is no way to run a Province.. No side to pick.. I don’t love oil and gas any more than I dislike EVs..
Bring a better product and save me some money.. Make it a upgrade and you wont need the thumb screws.. Its just all so completely unnecessary..
Now we can have the big showdown: Trudopian Libtard climate fantasy versus Moe conservative constitutional smoke and mirrors.. Sadly, they are all blowing smoke up our collective ass.
Tired of all this Petro Masculinity.
Okay, I gotta ask, what the heck does that even mean? Because the story quotes the female Minister of Justice, who was previously for four or five years the Minister of Energy and Resources. I’m confused, and afraid to even ask.
Progressive Pat strikes again.
But darling, I’m just getting warmed up!
