Peter – I knew Paul Martin was going to be submarined by the Libs when I saw a Mansbridge interview with him – and instead of softballs like Martin was expecting, he set him up with Gotcha questions, typically used for conservatives. Poor Paulie didn’t know what hit him.
At that point it was clear that Big Paulie had been reading too many of his own press releases and actually thought he was all that and more. To be fair Martin had some abilities, but public speaking and leadership were not among them.
Trudeau is going down the same path (except he has zero abilites in anything other than self delusion), and will be taken out. He will be replaced with far worse, which Fife knows.

Yeah, as soon as he was tagged “Mr. Dithers” it was pretty much over for him, I think.
I remember his barely-restrained anger when journalists all over Ottawa woke one morning to find leaked copies of his election platform (or was it a budget?), and the startled looks of his people, live at a press conference, when he suddenly blurted out that would “eliminate the notwithstanding clause”. You could immediately tell that none of them had the slightest clue he was about to drop such a bomb on them. By that point, the Liberal Party having been split right down the middle by an internal civil war, Martin clearly had no idea who he could still trust and who was working against him.
I read a real interesting comment on Matt Gurney’s Twitter feed (he’s a good poster) to the effect that the entire Trudeau reign might be one long dead-cat bounce for the Liberals engineered by Harper’s incompetence and fecklessness. The Chretien-Martin War tore the hell out of the Liberals. A lot of talent was lost that did not return. Once Trudeau is out, that might be it.
You are assuming that only Canadian citizens voted as are the rules. If you bought that, I will sell you the Brooklyn Bridge too.

The reason thousands of Canadians die of fentanyl is because the sensible alternatives ie heroin or morphine are banned/restricted to unavailability.
Yes, heroin or morphine are much more sensible for recreation. (But if you are inclined to try fentanyl I don’t want to discourage you. Enjoy.)

It’s because fentanyl is cheaper and more powerful which is pretty desirable to addicts. Why would they ever pay more for a less powerful drug?
Because it has a broad pharmaceutical range unlike fentanyl which is narrow and therefore very easy to get yourself killed with. Legal heroin and opioids = no fentanyl epidemic.
They don’t want heroine they want fentanyl. Heroine is far too weak for them at this point.

I swore at my car radio last week when a PSA came on stating that “drug addiction is not a choice…it’s a medical condition”.
The BC government produced the ad, and even proudly took credit for it at the end.
