Households are using cat litter to heat their homes, according to pet shop bosses, after the Ukraine war sparked a shortage of wood pellets. Jollyes, one of the UK’s largest pet food stores, said its cat litter suppliers were “working overtime to fulfill demand” for wood pellets, after a sharp jump in sales earlier this winter.

They are talking about wood pellets. They are used as cat litter. They work about as well as the clay ones.
I can’t imagine that they are really any different from those intended to burn – just sold in smaller, more expensive packs.
I know a few farmers who buy heating pellets instead of animal bedding because 25% cheaper.
The heating pellets seem a little coarser, more pine tar, but apparently the horses don’t mind.
One would hope they burn fresh kitty litter and not used kitty litter. (pheeeuwie!)
Mother earth demands the kitty litter be recycled.
Soon we will have automobiles powered by cat turds.
