Polar bears are so plentiful they have become a nuisance, says a Department of Environment report. New data contradict repeated claims by then-Environment Minister Catherine McKenna and others that bears were victims of climate change: “Inuit are concerned about this increasing number.”

      1. Old Polar Bears that are unable to hunt die. Indeed, all Polar Bears ultimately die, or so I’m told. The photographer apparently wasn’t at the meeting. Shame.

    2. Justin Trudeau is claiming that there are no polar bears left in Antarctica because we have only been fixing climate change in the northern hemisphere.

      1. There’s no polar bears in the Antarctic because polar bears don’t like the taste of penguins. Claim they’re too fishy.

    1. On top of the inukshuk maybe; climate change caused a scarcity of cedar trees in the Arctic – Inuit oil lamps must have caused it.

  3. What is the optimal number of polar bears? Where I am, it’s zero. It’s zero in many areas. But a few thousand in Toronto would be nice.

    1. We have herds of polar bears moving through Calgary in the winter. That is why we built the plus 15 system.

  4. I recall a number of years ago that of the 15 or so populations of polar bears, 12 were increasing, 2 were stable, and 1 was declining

    So of course the “scientists” focused on the 1 that was declining

    1. The latest: Scientists claim to have reasonably accurate data on 11 of the 19 polar bear sub-populations in the Arctic. Of these 11, seven are classified as stable or increasing.

      The status of eight populations is unknown. Polar bears apparently don’t fill out census forms nor do they stand still to be counted.

      Total estimated count has gone up from around 5,000 to 30,000 to 35,000 in the last few decades.

  6. Climate Barbie has struck it rich. Hysteria sells and she pimps it as well as the next airhead. Who needs a PhD, then subjecting themselves to mundane scientific research when all you need to do is slightly amend the Chicken Little mantra for the species or cause de Jour and you can usurp all the attention away from science while claiming that the science is settled, then get elected with the in-crowd tribe and retire with a gold-plated pension while riding the NGO, speaking circuit. What next, academia?, media?, the institutionally leftist dominated west is her Oyster.

  7. Eventually they’ll transition to a system wherein the polar bears manage the Inuit population. Same thing they’re trying to do in Yellowstone.

    The monied, coastal rich think that flyover country is their own, personal petting zoo.

      2. It is unacceptable that the predators in flyover country will actually kill you, and probably politically incorrect to say it out loud. I think the woke vision of wild country is the same, ie. petting zoo and Disney cartoon all rolled up in one. Thus, every summer we have a number of Tourons who visit Yellowstone and get trampled and gored when they attempt to pet the Bison. I’m anticipating the day when wolves have finished exterminating prey species in the park and start running down and eating the Tourons.

    1. There was recently a whimsical proposal that the reintroduction of wolves in Colorado should focus on the suburbs of Denver. Hard to argue with the logic of that. The morons who voted (it was a public referendum ON THE BALLOT, because the scientists at the Colorado Division of Wildlife simply can’t be trusted with wildlife management) for the reintroduction will never experience the costly impacts that will ranchers in rural parts of the state.

  10. I agree with some of the posters above. We need to expand the polar bear range to new habitats.

    There is an island off the NY-NJ coast with a large central park that would be able to accommodate a stable breeding population. They may need to adjust their food preferences from seals to new species of prey, but for them, game will be plentiful on the island called Manhattan.

    If the polar bears can make it there, they can make it anywhere! It’s up to you, New York, New York!

    Climate “experts” such as McKenna have learned to avoid Gore’s stupid mistake – that of making predictions which can be shown to be wrong during your lifetime.

    Unless you are pretty young, prognosticating something will happen “by the end of the Century” is pretty safe!

  16. I can hardly wait for Trudeau to show up and take their guns away, right after he shuts down their diesel generator and replaces it with solar panels and electric ski-doos. What a clown world.
