      1. In addition to the population further discounting the veracity of popular media, “Carrying coals to Newcastle,” comes to mind.

Taxpayer funds wasted on needless subsidies of “renewable energy” are already in the billions.

And so on, and so forth.

  1. We don’t need no stinking sparky cars:
    https://news.yahoo.com/brother-sister-had-stop-6-090000489.html
“…had to stop 6 times in 1 day to charge their rented Tesla in cold weather because the battery drained so quickly.”
“We ended up having to stop every one to one and a half hours to charge for an hour, then an hour and a half, then two hours,”

… and then add to this the kill switch roaddog mentions in the first post…

      1. Evidently some idiots want to sample the alleged future. Good. Maybe this experience will cure them. Also it partly explains the volume of Tesla sales. It would not surprise me if EV garbage become new government fleet cars either. Just wait for ambulances stopping to recharge or cops breaking the pursuit for the same reason.

    1. I know someone who works at Hertz and he told me that the fleet of Teslas are the most work in the entire business.
All the cars are linked to one company owned cell phone in their office or else the clients would be able to take cars and keep them as long as they wanted.
When the clients find out that they can’t use the app on their phone to open/close/start/summon their car during the rental, period, they get upset because of course, it’s mostly about showing off how progressive you are, not about getting anywhere with your Tesla.

      1. roaddog, the list is long & distinguished. I just don’t know how much the Senate is able to do on its own, ‘specially w/ the RINO’s.

        1. We are plagued with turncoat RINOs, who will vote with Democrats at the drop of a hat, errr, did I say at the offer of a BJ?
That’s how we got the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill which, per my first post at the top of this thread, which openly reveals how government feels about citizens. Every citizen is a criminal, and will be treated as such. Interlocks which have historically been used to prevent those convicted of DUI offenses from starting and driving their cars when intoxicated will soon be mandated on every new vehicle sold in the US. So, the majority of citizens, who do not drive while intoxicated are now to be treated in the same manner as convicted criminals; to say nothing of the fact that the price of new vehicles will, of course, increase. Guilty until proven innocent.
Bottom line: Democrats will get whatever they want.

          1. “Democrats will get whatever they want.”

They keep pushing, they may get more than they bargained for. Even up here, in quiescent, less-armed Canada, rumblings are beginning.

    1. I expect we’ll be seeing a lot more about failing Tesla’s.
Elon isn’t a protected species anymore.

  2. Interesting article on why India continues to buy Russian oil.

    https://dnyuz.com/2022/12/31/russias-war-could-make-it-indias-world/

“Since February, Europe has imported six times the fossil fuel energy from Russia that India has done,” Mr. Jaishankar said. “So if a $60,000-per-capita society feels it needs to look after itself, and I accept that as legitimate, they should not expect a $2,000-per-capita society to take a hit.”

  3. It’s everywhere now, note, this is a dated link:

Ditto in Calgary Alberta, 9 new locations. Will the fast food restos do likewise? Cafeterias? Libraries? Just imagine, drive-thrus, sky’s the limit.

David Murrell pointed to the new taxes recently, the 6.3 % increase on April 1 is for liquor. Think the governments are the biggest winner.

    1. “Dining area”? Retail floor space can be quite expensive. Can they really trade product display for an open dining area (even a few 10’s of square feet) in the hopes that the occasional beer sale will provide equal/more profit?

‘Sides, I can think of lots of places I’d like to have access to a cold one. 7-11 ain’t one of ’em. Appears they’re trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator here, and the LCD is probably just going to head to the alley & consume Branvin sherry or Lysol or similar.

      1. I agree. We’ll see how long that lasts. Biker, this changes the meaning of HAPPY HOUR totally!

        1. “All staff who handle alcohol are ProServe trained. “

What a crock. Attended a wedding a few years back, bride was an old friend. She asked if I could bartend. Sure, my pleasure.

Get there, some snot-nosed punk fresh outta ProServe school trying to assert himself as “The Boss”. I bartended in a lounge and while in university at cabarets, as well as a number of social events that my local volunteer fire department hosted during 7 years of membership. Eminently more experience & knowledge than any GD course. I smiled, nodded grimly, told him to stay the hell out of my way & proceeded to do my job.

          “ProServe”, all right…

          1. Couldn’t say. Wedding was on her parent’s farm close to an hour out of Lethbridge.

    1. A few years ago, people on this site were waxing poetic about the virtues of alcohol taxation, for the children, no less.

    1. Seeing as most of Christianity has gone woke, this is no surprise.
Islam is biologically viable, even if it is a form of civilizational necrosis, woke is not; woke is civilizational torched earth.

    1. Most Canadians do not understand the depth and breadth of the American economy.
Most Americans do not understand the depth and breadth of the Canadian swamp, which dwarfs the American swamp by a factor of 10x on a per capita basis.

Dr. Stanislaw Burzinski, the cure for cancer supressed for 40 years and his battle with the thugs at the FDA…this brings about a level of rage against medical bureaucrats I have not even come close to experiencing over C19. And we are supposed to trust these people.

  5. Bottom line:
    Canadian “Conservatives” = fascist clowns.
    American “Conservatives” = libertarians.
