The government is bending to irrational pressure to be seen to be “doing something” about Covid, this time in the wake of an outbreak of Covid cases in China, despite the fact that the variant is the same as the endemic one already in this country. So we will institute a series of useless measures which will capture Covid arrivals from China about as effectively as a sieve.
The only measure that stands any chance of success would be to immediately halt all flights to Canada originating in China, meaning that Canadian citizens travelling in China, or Chinese immigrants wishing to return to Canada, would be stuck in China. And the effectiveness would be questionable, since they could enter through a third country.
No one wants to ask the hard questions, such as how a country with an over 90% vaxx rate could be experiencing this, or how their much lauded zero Covid policy could end so disastrously.
What I am seeing is what we saw three years ago: that Justin would rather coddle his Chinese bosses than take a firm stand rooted in reason.
Would that we had an opposition that had the intestinal fortitude to ask who Justin really works for.

Although each state had a mess of reporting “system”, during the mass COVID hysteria, it was well ignored that states like Florida were doing good, and lockdown Democrats poorly. Oddly Vermont had 1/10 the rate of New York.

Interesting that Canada finally has some recognition (although limited) of natural immunity. Also a vaccination is not given any recognition.

One of the original selling points for the lockdowns was that they wouldn’t prevent you from getting Covid, it would just spread out when you got it, and, in theory, avoid over capacity at hospitals.
When you severly lock down a country of over 1Billion people, at some point its going to spread and spread quickly.

Is there any difference between the Covid the Chinese now have and the mutated Omicron Covid we now have that is now no more than the common cold? We already have Omicron here, how will excluding the Chinese stop us from having what we already have? And why are we terrified of the common cold?
Or is this just more theatre from our government to get us terrified of what is now merely the common cold, so our government can once again take away our freedoms. They really miss taking away our freedoms, and are looking for any way to go back to the good ‘ol days of a year ago when we gave up our freedoms whenever they said boo. Plus. it makes them look like they are “doing something” about “the problem’, even if it is only the common cold and is thus not a problem at all. The fact that it did not work the first time is ignored.
