Scottish Daily Express- Anger as EU project sees Police Scotland rebrand paedophiles as ‘Minor-Attracted People’
Chief Constable Iain Livingstone’s annual year end report refers to child abusers as Minor-Attracted People (MAPs). The move comes amid wider concerns by campaigners over what they see as attempts to rebrand paedophilia as a harmless sexual preference.
A spokesman for the force stressed that MAPs is not a term they routinely use to describe child abusers and said that its use in the report had to be understood in context.

Nonsense like this will continue and escalate until an effort is made to identify the specific individual who made the original recommendation for “minor-attracted.” These euphemisms are sometimes created purposefully…sometimes just out of ignorance and a lack of empathy/sympathy. It matters not. The creation of the term should be out in sunlight so that those who it effects can put pressure on the individual to explain himself/herself. Bureaucracy is not just a generator of inefficiency. It hides those creating that inefficiency.
Instead, you get this EU Horizon Project which is said to be overseen by The Swedish Research Council and Vinnova. The problem here is that the EU Horizon Project holds a budget of $95.5 Billion….while The Swedish Research Council and Vinnova advertise an operating budget of $7.7 Billion. So, who is really overseeing the application of the Horizon Project? Who, specifically, is calling the shots? I think it would be beneficial and enlightening to determine the names of the specific individuals guiding the application of those funds (which focuses primarily on Climate Change, btw) and open up a can of sunlight on them…Until the proverbial “proctology exam” is done of them, they will keep inserting this nonsense into your everyday lives.

In the DSM5 manual, pedophilia DOES mean “Minor-Attracted People”

The problem is that “pedophilia” has become widened in common use.
This is common for terms with strong emotional effect: antisemitism, genocide etc.
So Epstein for example, is called a pedophile, when was just a powerful male
who was able to indulge his attraction to very young women.

SO, the EU seems to have come up with the expression that defines
pedophilia by dropping the label and using the definition directly.
HOWEVER If “the Chief Constable Iain Livingstone’s annual year end report refers to child abusers as Minor-Attracted People (MAPs).”
he is out of order.
A. pedophiles are not necessarily child abusers.
B. Child sexual abusers are not necessarily pedophiles.
I don’t know and don’t care what the DSM5 manual is.
Pedophiles are child rapists. So are paedophiles. You can change the name or the spelling all you want. They are sick people. I am not sure if you are defending them or not. If you are, you are one sick puppy.
I’m mainly just making a couple of distinctions. A lot of disputes are really over what labels are used.
