Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

-38C Camping eh..??
“INSULATED” tent..??
BUT…..If I were in that position, where I was forced to do so, I would set up a Fire based heating system of which there are many to be found on U-Tube. Sitting in yer supposedly “insulated” (oxy moron IMO), tent wearing a hoody does not constitute “comfort” in any way shape or form IMO.
Having taken Survival course in the CAF back in the day… We did not have a “tent”, simply 1/2 an old parachute, built our own Lean too with it, Fire in front with a good size wood based heat reflector behind it. For a “Mattress” Spruce/Fir boughs which also covered the lean to. Twas a most interesting albeit hungry 10 days in the bush.
Good times…
Indeed, nothing quite like living primitive for a short while to make one appreciate the comfort of a warm dry house.
I’ve winter “camped” in the box of a pickup truck with a doghouse at -18C. 1″ Thermarest mattress, two sleeping bags, Chilly, but bearable.
Have also tented in ~-10C with a decent 3 season tent. Built a nice roaring fire on the edge of the nearby stream to heat rocks, then erected an enclosure using a square of construction plastic laid over willow stems. Bring in a hot rock with a shovel, sprinkle a few drops of water, instant steam bath. Very enjoyable. Walking around in your underwear beneath a beautiful blue sky in between baths & not feeling the cold
One other time we did the lean-to, wood fire reflector & spruce bough thing in February. A chinook hit, morning two we could hear water running under our spruce bough bed. S’pose to be a 5 day trip, day four we hiked out onna muddy trail, carrying our cross-country skiis & dragging our toboggans through the mud. Memories…
Ruff camping for me , was checking into a holiday inn with no bar:-))))
Nice to see Steve Wallis well on the rebound after the recent death of his wife. Pleasant, unassuming guy.
Good for some mindless viewing. Sometimes nice to shut down the frontal lobes for a few minutes and watch Steve. The video of him camping in the roundabout was amusing. Sad he lost his wife.
Looks like a normal season of November elk hunting. Yawn.
I have the uninsulated Clam model.
I like fishing outside as much as I can but some times it’s just crazy cold and the holes and lines ice over too quickly.
Also makes a great windbreak if you like getting sunshine.
