  1. Great observation.
Reminds me of Lou Gerstners book “ Who Says Elephants Can’t Dance?
There is hope if the right talent steps forward.

  2. Government funded organizations can just keep on going, with or without competent people. When was the last time a government organization collapsed? I am not aware of one.

    1. Add to that “funded by endowments” … doesn’t Harvard have endowments so large they’re in the top 100 nations of the world in financial strength? BTW … Harvard just appointed a Black Woman President … first time ever at Harvard. Box – checked. Meh.

      1. Harvard is a hedge fund that happens to run an University for tax advantages…

On their 2021 return, their investment income was $5,257,253,083 versus $1.88 billion in program revenue, and their total assets went from $59 billion to $72 billion.

  3. University have been hot beds of “leftist group think” since at least the 1980s when I was attending.

Didn’t buy their BS then, and still don’t… touchy feely and equity of outcomes pie in the sky twaddle.

But then I went to learn about mathematics and physics, which doesn’t lend itself to mountains of intellectual shyte Piled Higher and Deeper (PHD).

  4. I grew up in a pool of around 200 kids. I think about 125 graduated Grade 12 in 1970. Maybe 12 went to university. Now out of 200 kids, I’m guessing 180 graduate. It’s like Oprah handing out Pontiacs. Even the retards graduate. University or college – I’m guessing 100. The high school system failed but stoked by government cash it will continue. It just doesn’t mean anything.

    1. Scar

That mirrors my experience to a T.
      Same year
..and all through the previous yrs every teacher promoting University…those that either didn’t have grades or inclination, lumped together as “undesirables” relegated to “occupational” class or “shop”

I’d bet those of us in that selection have for the most part done rather well.. the bright ones.? No idea, with a number of them opting for drama, journalism or some other course of action… non of it STEM related. And it’s gotten way way worse… Credentialism is the path forward.. whether you know yer shit or not.

  5. Geez, must be a slow news day if they have to talk about Blubber Douggie’s tape worms.

  6. This saddens me. True to the metaphor, they will still be there for generations. But we are terrestrial, therefore botfly larvae are more apropos as they will fly off and infect others.

    Let them have tenure.

  7. “Parasites in a Whale Carcass”

Not to detract from the message, but wouldn’t calling them saprophytes be more accurate?

      1. Her excess tonnage is the result of racism; excess wealth because of hard work. And don’t you forget it.

    1. @Bruce–this event reminds me of the WKRP in Cincinnati Thanksgiving episode. The only thing missing was a Mr Carson-like municipal official saying “As God is my witness, I didn’t know whales could fly.”
