DNA sequences dating back 2 million years, the oldest ever obtained, suggest that the northeastern tip of Greenland was once home to a forested ecosystem unlike any now found on Earth.
The sequences were obtained from frozen soil and indicate that the region, was once home to mastodons and reindeer. The area is now barren and home to hare, musk ox and few plants.
“No one would have predicted this ecosystem in northern Greenland at this time,” said Eske Willerslev, a paleogeneticist at the University of Copenhagen who co-led a study published Wednesday in Nature describing the ancient-DNA findings.[…]
Greenland was much warmer then, but the researchers did not expect the DNA sequences to reveal forests of poplar, spruce and yew trees such as those now typically found at much lower latitudes, alongside sedges, shrubs and birch-tree species that still grow in Greenland, according to Nature.

Two million years ago the planetary landmasses were largely where they are today. Evidence of the plant species noted is entirely due to warmer climes. Same as the forest remnants in our own Arctic.

Magnetic poles shift, dramatically and often. The axis about which the earth spins, however, does not change much in relation to the earth, as that would take horrific amounts of energy. It wobbles in space, but that’s different.
Contintental drift is pretty well mapped out, and Greenland wasn’t too far from where it is now,
Bottom line: it would have been far north even then.
Continental drift is not that fast and the poles don’t shift the way you are thinking … you are confusing the geographic pole with the magnetic pole.
The Atlantic ocean has been opening / getting wider for 175 million years …. most plates move about the same speed as your fingernails grow.

Hey, maybe it was warmer 2 million years ago, just a thought.
A few years ago archeologists were excited that the Arctic was finally melting to reveal ancient Viking graves in Greenland. They had been frozen in ice for over 1,000 years until, with the recent warming, they were starting to thaw, revealing graves, houses, remains of livestock and so on. The Arctic was significantly warmer 1,000 years ago until it (again) froze over. Makes you wonder if there are cycles of warming / cooling that scientists are unaware of? No….

After the big melt down that ended the last ice age, the resulting moisture covered the globe with steam, heh, the clouds. That further warmed the climate, heh, as the climate changed. As a result even the northern parts became warmer because of the clouds. It is described somewhat in the Old Book.
As the climate, being what it is, changes as it has always done and will always do, it cooled somewhat and became very much as it is today.
If the wise guys of the climate religion would like to say that it is the way it always will be, they know as anybody with an innate sense of reality know, it will change. There will be an era of cold, ice cold and worse and then there will be an era of warm, hot and worse, the climate does not give a damn what the wise guys think.
The wise guys can tell the plebeians that they can stop it if they just stop driving, heating their houses, turn on the light in darkness and so on and so on, they, the wise guys and the all of the inhabitants can’t do a damn thing.
There is not a snow balls chance in hell that man, as it were, can do anything about climate, though there are a good number of scam artists that went to school for a long time and will make millions of $ to tell about it.
