Something New Under The Sun

Daily Mail:

At least two new minerals never seen on Earth have been identified within a 14-ton meteorite found in Somalia two years ago.

The minerals were found in a single two-ounce slice of the space rock, which was sent to the University of Alberta, believed to have discovered a potential third new mineral.

The two newly discovered minerals have been named elaliite and elkinstantonite, but no other details have been released.

    1. Bullshitium.

      NASA, still faking space.

Nothing they “find” is new. It’s all stuff they have on earth.

Probably along the same lines of the “moon rocks” they brought back, that turned out to be petrified wood.

  1. MRNA minerals, eh? Biden probably declares them minerals of mass destruction and declares war on Somalia.

  2. The meteorite fell to Earth long before it was “Discovered” in 2020.

History: (Global Resources, Ltd., C. Herd, UAb): The rock was lying on top of the soil in a limestone valley rich in groundwater, with thickets of vegetation on which the camels forage. The rock was known by the finders in the field as “Nightfall.” The local herders near El Ali report that they had knowledge of this rock for more than 5-7 generations memorialized through Saar folklore, songs, dances and poems. There were no other debris in the surrounding area. It was partially immersed in sand but looked different from the rocks that the finders were used to seeing in the area.

Do rocks rise to the surface of the soil in tropical areas like rocks and stones do in Northern North America with our freeze-thaw cycles?

    1. Sure, they worshiped a rock the size of a car but none of the million other car sized rocks in the area. Is this a case of a random rock that white people want it so it’s ours? We’ve seen that before.

  3. And, inevitably…the Chinese now dominate the colonization long thought to be the exclusive domain of testosterone-poisoned white men.
“While the future of the meteorite remains uncertain, Herd said the researchers have received news that it appears to have been moved to China in search of a potential buyer.”

  4. 14 tons is 492,800 ounces, and they found some new “elements” in a single 2 ounce slice? Color me skeptical

    1. Minerals, not elements.
There are hundreds of thousands of undiscovered minerals waiting to be found.
The vast majority of them are extremely rare, and will not be found unless someone actually goes searching for them.
My geology school (U of Manitoba) discovers several new minerals every year.
Most are very rare (a few grams or less) and are not all that important, scientifically or economically.
